So there are none of cheat-like method for characters to get stronger or develop outside of common sense! - Simple MC: The MC is a simple and relaxed person (and a bit cunning maybe). He just wants to enjoy his new life in the One Piece world but with a bit dreams of having a crystal palace/harem and ambition to reach the top of the world! - Light Story: Not too intricate plot but still not really bad. Don't hope too much for many dramatic or hot-blooded scenes! This fan-fic is better enjoyed just as a light and relaxing read/interlude, so don't take it too serious! - Wish Fulfillments: This is the first fan-fiction I created! And this fan-fic is actually just a wish-fulfillments of mine! - Flaws: Surely there are some/lots of flaws in this fan-fiction, so don't expect too much it's a great masterpiece! ====

Chapter 8 - Down The Mountain

•×•×•×•

Lepus and Brisa finally arrived at the nearest suburb from the mountain where they had previously lived, namely Groundhog Town.

Before entering this small town, Lepus gave Brisa a warning.

"Brisa, don't tell or talk about my ability to anyone unless I permit it."

"Un? Why?"

"Because we have to be careful. We shouldn't trust other people easily. Otherwise, we might be targeted by bad people. Got it?"

"Un."

"Good."

Arriving in the city, the first thing Lepus did was, of course, earn money. Luckily Lepus had already made a plan before they descended the mountain. Lepus brought a few fishes and a basket of forest fruits that he and Brisa collected before they went down the mountain to sell at the market.

"Brisa, we will sell these fishes and fruits first. And the money we get later we will use to buy some new clothes, buy food, and stay at the inn."

"Un."

Lepus then asked a middle-aged man who was sitting smoking near the city gate.

"Excuse me. Uncle, could you please tell us where the market is?"

"Oh? Market? Just go straight on this main road, then at the crossroad you turn left, after that about a few hundred meters you will arrive at the market."

"Oh. Thank you, Uncle."

"Yeah. You're welcome."

By late afternoon, their fishes and fruits were sold out. Lepus then bought some new clothes for him and Brisa at the clothing stall in the market as well. Then they went to a restaurant not far from there.

After entering the restaurant, Lepus led Brisa to an empty table in the corner of the restaurant and sat down. Then Lepus looked at the menu.

Not long after, a middle-aged woman came up to them.

"Welcome to our restaurant! What would you like to order?"

"We want this dish and this drink too. Please make it two. That's all."

Lepus said pointing to the dish and drink he had chosen.

"Okay. Please wait."

After a while, the middle-aged woman came back with their orders.

"Here's your orders. Please enjoy."

"Thank you, Aunty."

"Oh. You're welcome."

Said the aunt waitress with a smile who then left to serve the other customers.

"Brisa, let's eat."

"Un."

After eating, Lepus raised his hand and called the waitress aunty.

"Excuse me, the bill!"

The waitress aunty then came over to tell their bill and take the money.

After paying for their meal, Lepus asked the waitress Aunty.

"Auntie, does this restaurant need additional employee?"

"Hm? Additional employee? Why you asked? You want to work here?"

The waitress aunty asked slightly surprised expression.

"That's right, Auntie. My sister and I are coming to town for the first time, so we wanted to get some experience. We come from a mountain village which is quite remote and deprived. Besides, we lost our family, so we decided to leave the village."

Lepus gave a bit of white lies but it wasn't too wrong with their actual situation either.

"Oh, I see.... It just so happens that this restaurant is mine and my husband's, so it's not impossible if you guys want to help out a bit."

"Thank you, Auntie. We can work as waitresses or dishwashers too, no problem."

"Oh, that's fine. Do you guys already have a place to live? If not, you can also stay here too. Incidentally, there is still an empty room on the second floor."

"Thank you, Auntie. Then how much is the rent?"

"That's not necessary. After all, you will be working here, so consider yourself at home. Besides, you two will also get three meals a day and we will still gave you salary."

"That... Isn't that a bit much, Auntie? Aren't you going to lose out like that? After all, we're practically just hitching you here and we're not your relatives or anything like that either."

"Oh, don't worry about that. Coincidentally, we just lost our previous employee because they were returning home and they said they had to continue their family farm and get married. So, we're also happy to finally get new employees. Ohohoho."

The aunty replied casually and laughed.

"I see.... Okay then. Thank you, Auntie. Oh, and my name is Lepus and this is Brisa."

"My name is Brisa."

Lepus introduced himself and Brisa too.

"Oh, nice to meet you two. Just call me Aunt Nora, and my husband is a chef in the kitchen, his name is Hector. It's already dusk now, so you two can just started working tomorrow. Now, I'll show you your room."

"All right, Aunt Nora. Thank you."

"Yes, you're welcome."

Lepus and Brisa then followed Aunt Nora to the second floor. Arriving at the end of the second floor, Aunt Nora stopped in front of a door and then opened it.

"This is your room. You two can stay here. All right, have a good rest."

After showing the room to Lepus and Brisa, Aunt Nora returned to the restaurant on the first floor.

Lepus looked around the room and assessed it. The room was not too wide, but not too cramped either.

"Not bad.... Brisa, we'll be living and working in this restaurant for a while. We're going to spend some time in this town adapting to social life. You're okay, right?"

"Un."

"Okay. We're going to bed."

Even though they slept together in the same bed, they didn't mind it because they had gotten used to it since they were still on the mountain. Besides, they also love each other, so it doesn't matter.
