Mera Mera no Mi

[Somewhere on the sea],

The sea was buzzing with its dormant strength and the waves were creeping steadily towards us.

You could see a small size ship sailing smoothly on the water.

"*Gulp*…*Gulp*…*THUD*…PHEW!!...So, what's the plan?" Calvin asked me while slamming a bottle of alcohol on the table.

We were sitting in the captain's cabin.

"I'm looking for a certain island, It's not too far from Dawn Island." I casually replied while cleaning my gun.

"An Island? What's its name?" He said reaching to the bottle.

"I have no idea. That's why I'm looking for it, the only thing I know about it is that it's surrounded by weird, rough currents." I told him.

"What exactly are you looking for in there?" He asked me then he took a sip from the bottle.

"A treasure" I replied

"Gold?"

"No, a devil fruit" I said to him then I put the gun on the side and brought a map and started marking all the uninhabited islands that are close to Dawn Island.

"Devil fruit? I heard about them before" He said with a curious look in his face.

I preceded to explain to him what devil fruits are.

"Wow!! wouldn't you be unstoppable if you eat one?" He stopped for a second then add "How do you know it's there anyway?"

"Well, I have my own sources"

I was looking for the island where Ace got stranded in the beginning of his journey but because I can't remember its name, I must now go visit a bunch of random islands to find it 'Sigh… I wish I paid more attention to small detail's while reading one piece'

"We have six islands we need to check out" I kept thinking for a second then I made a decision, "We'll check this one first" I pointed on the map and Calvin nodded his head in understanding.

"By the way you should start thinking about recruiting a navigator, we can't sail a ship properly with only the two of us" He said to me.

"I know, I'm thinking about it but for now we don't have a lot of choices" I'm certainly thinking of recruiting a navigator but the ones I remember from the show are either children or still not born yet except Laffite.

"Whatever you say Captain!" he said then he left the cabin.

Two weeks later,

I was standing on the ships deck tired and drowned in my sweat and in the opposite side was Calvin he was looking the same.

We were sparring for the past two hours. I wasn't using any of the Rokushiki techniques just pure physical strength.

"Huff…Huff…" I was observing him waiting for him to make a move. He came charging at me with a strong right punch.

I crossed my arms and blocked his attack and then I threw a left kick to his side chest, he managed to avoid it and tried to back away a little bit, but I already dashed at him and grabbed his arm.

I put my right shoulder under his and used my leg to lift him up and then I smashed him on the ship surface and pinned him down.

"I win!!" I said to him. He looked exhausted 'thanks to all the training I did on that island I now have a monstrous stamina even Calvin can't keep up' I thought

We were sparring almost every day in the past two weeks and thanks to that we were both able to learn a lot of things from each other and grow stronger quickly.

I also started teaching Calving how to train on the Rokushiki techniques while he taught me some close combat hand on hand fighting techniques and martial arts and thanks to all this training, I was finally able to unlock Soru.

I also taught Calvin about what Haki is and we started training observation by having one of us blindfolded and try to dodge attacks from the other one, he thought it was a weird training, but he decided to trust me and go with it anyway, but unfortunately, we still haven't made any progress at all.

While I was resting on the ships deck, I saw a bird flying down at my direction once it got close enough, I could see it carrying a newspaper.

"It's the newspaper bird!!" When I threw a coin to it, it dropped the newspaper then flew away.

"Former pirate hunter Calvin Helios and his mysterious partner helped the infamous pirate Holman Grip to attack marine soldiers while in duty. The incident left a lot of casualties both in civilian and marine side thus forcing the government to label the former two as criminals" I could not stop myself from laughing when I read that.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!! How can they change what happened so drastically!!!" I kept reading the news in amusement "Hey, Calving!!...looks like we made it to the headline." I said to him while laughing.

"What do you mean?" He approached me and asked.

"The incident from Belles Town. We even have bounties on our head now!!" I said to him then I preceded to read the bounties "Calvin Helios, Dead Or Alive '12,000,000' berries, looks like they put a pretty height bounty on you." I said to him.

"I expect nothing less" He said proudly.

"Well, that's most likely because you used to be a pirate hunter, so they think you are pretty dangerous" I said then flipped the next page "Ashen, Dead Or Alive '7,000,000' berries…THE FUCK?!!" I was confused on how they found out about my name and why they put such bounty on my head when I literally did nothing.

"What? Are you jealous because I have a higher bounty than you?" Calvin said mockingly.

"*TSK*…Look at you…So full of yourself… Don't worry I'll beat you soon" I stated confidently.

I looked around and saw an island appearing from a distance, this was the fifth island we visit.

"Let's hope it's the right one." We were going low on supplies so we will soon have to go to a port to resupply the ship.

Two Hours Later,

When we got close enough to the island, we saw the weather changed drastically, there was a strong storm and the waves were aggressive and kept pushing us back, it became so hard to move toward the island but after struggling for a while we were able to bypass that and finally docked on the island.

After that I told Calvin to stay on the ship and keep watch while I searched the island for the devil fruit and after a few hours I finally managed to find it.

"I didn't think I would find it this quickly, Mera Mera no Mi" I put the fruit away and went back to the ship.

"Did you find it?" Calvin asked.

"Yes!!" I replied then I showed it to him.

"Hmmm…It does look different from a normal fruit. Are you going to eat it?"

"I'm not sure, I think I'll keep it for now and see later" If I don't eat it then I'm just going to give it to him.

"Anyway, I got what I need so let's leave this place" I said then we immediately set sail again.
