8 Finishing the test.

Chiuzki Pov*

The fights were more or less the same. Some of them were better than the others, some knew how to throw a decent punch and a decent kick, but it was mostly just survival of the fittest. They ran at whoever they deemed the strongest, and hoped all's well that ends well.

None of them had any sort of experience with fights or strategy but I guess that's the reason they're here at the academy, to train, grow stronger, think smarter and grow into decent marines.

Besides, not everyone has a crazily strong old man to train you, nor the fleet admiral of the entire marines watching over you. I guess I'm just lucky huh.

I have thought about it in the past, what would have happened to me if I hadn't been rescued?

Maybe I would have become a pirate? Maybe I would have still joined the marines and worked my way up.

Eh, probably would have just become a bounty hunter or something. Easy way to make money whilst staying away from both sides.

"Group four, It's your turn."

Well, lets focus on the now huh. Asking questions like what if, would only lead me down the path of paranoia.

Well anyway, I'm currently stood in the arena. I can see that I am at the peak of the pentagon, meaning all four of my opponents are in front of me and from what I can see, given their body language, all four of them are planning on rushing me.

How cruel. Four guys cornering a fragile little girl. Someone ought to teach them some manners.

Guess I'll volunteer since I'm such a saint.

"Everyone ready?"

After everyone nods to Rias's question, she backs of and then signals for us to start.

And as I expected, all four began running towards me.

Two of them were going to reach me first since they were closer. Funny thing about my opponents is that they all have different colored hair.

Red, green, black and blonde.

Red and blonde were currently about to reach me, though they're both incredibly sloppy and have zero teamwork.

As soon as they were within a one meter radius of me, the both swung their fists.

Red aimed for my jaw, and blonde for my temple.

Grabbing Blondies outstretched fist, I stepped back and pulled him. This caused him to stumble forward, straight into Red's mid motion punch.

"Gahh"

He grunted in pain as the fist connected with his nose. 400kg of force impacting your nose wouldn't exactly feel pleasant at all.

Well, unless you're into that of course. Not me though, I prefer to do the punching.

Holding him in front of me like a human shield, I kicked him in the joint behind his knee, causing his legs to fold like a chair and him to drop to his knees. I then grabbed him by the head and the back of his shirt and threw him at the two others still running towards me.

His head collided with greens stomach's, sending him tumbling a few meters behind back and wheezing from air since it was just knocked out of his lungs. The other one, however, continued running and was a few meters away from me, meanwhile Red centered himself for a kick with his right foot.

Once again, he aimed for my face.

Like what is his problem? Am I ugly? Is he jealous? AH he's annoying me.

Catching his foot with my left hand, I pull him forward, the same way I did with blondie, causing him to do the splits, and then I jump up and perform a flying knee to his chin.

"OHHH"

"Ouch"

"How horrible"

Yeah, I can hear a lot of sharp inhales of breath. A lot of people winced, and some cursed me.

But it is what it is.

Looking down at him, I can see he's unconscious, so I simply threw him out of the arena where someone rushed to check on him.

One down.

Now the other one. The one with black hair rushed at me as I was 'distracted' and tried to throw an overhead punch.

One that I simply side step.

This puts him in an awkward position where he's unable to defend himself as I perform a hook shot to his ribs causing him to fold sideways slightly and grunt in pain. I then kick him behind the knee joint with a low roundhouse kick, resulting in him falling to the floor.

After that, I simply kicked him out of the arena.

Two down.

Blondie and Green have recovered from their little escapades and are now looking at me with weariness.

*Sigh* It doesn't look like they're going to attack any time soon, so I begin walking towards them causing them to tense.

After a few steps, I increased my speed as much as possible. Neither of them managed to react as I suddenly appeared behind them and grabbed their heads.

"Better luck next time." I whispered to them before proceeding to bang their heads together, effectively knocking them out.

Like I said, child's play.

*3rd person Pov*

....

Silence prevailed after witnessing Chizuki's beautiful yet brutal display.

Nobody even reacted when she walked off stage yawning.

"W-Winner. Chizuki wins."

Still, nobody spoke. They were too busy trying to compare themselves to her.

Chizuki was one of the youngest members of the academy, and yet she outclasses them in everything.

Strength

Speed

Talent

Combat

Even looks.

She's too perfect. It almost seems like she's some sort of protagonist and its making them feel both admiration but also inferiority.

"Next, is group five. Get a move on." The old man Keith was the one to snap them out of their wallowing and the next group began making their way to the stage.

"Haiz. This is a problem." He says to no-one, in particular, though Rias understands what he means.

It isn't affecting them as much as they proclaim. Thankfully, everyone was split into groups before hand, as a result, Chizuki is only competing with four people. Everyone else still has the opportunity to earn as many points as possible.

For group four, however, it's a moral crusher.

It seems she will spend most of her time in the academy by herself. Not that she cares. She'll just use it to improve herself. Who knows, maybe she can learn how to use a weapon. Or maybe eat a devil fruit.

Only time will tell.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"ALRIGHT BRATS. That's the end of the test. We have noted down your scores and will keep them on hand. Remember, this is a monthly thing. We will test your progress every single month, and if you haven't improved, we will throw you on a boat and ship your asses to the regular academy.
Some of you did exceptionally well"
Everyone turned to look at Chizuki who was too busy trying to force choke a butterfly to notice.
"Some of you have a lot of room for improvement. But that is why you're here. So, work hard and use each other to grow stronger. Remember, where there's a will, there's a way.
If you put in hard work, you will be rewarded.
Now for the rankings."
Silence falls for a few seconds. A few of them are excited. Others nervous.
"I'm sure you all know who comes first. Well, actually two people both got fifteen points." He confesses and everyone looks surprised. They were so caught up in Chizuki's achievements that they ignored everyone else.
It's true that the sun shines brighter than the others stars. If you look at them from a distance that is.
"The two who got fifteen points are Chizuki from group four and Rob Lucci from group six. After comparing the results from the race and the punching machine, it turns out that Chizuki has broken the records for both of them. Thus, she is first and Rob is second."
A round of applause occurred, some were more enthusiastic than others but neither reacted.
He then began to list the rankings for the rest of the recruits.
"In order:
Pete
Ebony
Dexatron
Tana
Jerome
Jemal
Bob
Steve
Ryan Rey- *cough* Richards
.....
"These are the rankings, those at the bottom need to world hard to catch up lest your kicked out, those at the top need to continue working hard to maintain their position and the benefits that come with it.
Now for the benefits."
This is where everyone began paying attention. Chizuki was no exception.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chizuki Pov*

Finally. Give momma the good stuff. This will decide whether this was worth it or not.

"The first benefit you will receive is freedom. The top five recruits can do as they please on this island for the month. You don't have to show up to lessons if you do not want, and you can ask any of us for advice.

You have freedom.

Those who ranked from 6th to 15th will receive partial freedom. You will be required to attend class at least three times a week and finally, those in the bottom fifteen, will be required to go to class six days a week."

"SIX?"

"That's ridiculous!"

Ugh, thanks god I won, I really really really don't want to go to school. Sengoku made me study enough whenever I was free. I would rather fight, train or watch paint dry.

But freedom is good. That means I can do whatever I want. I'm probably going to learn how to use a weapon. I just haven't decided which one yet.

Maybe a scythe?

A sword?

Nun chucks?

"The second benefit we mentioned is the point system as mentioned before. You get 100 points for every position you climb. For example, whoever is ranked last will receive 100 points, rank 29 200 points.

Chizuki, who ranked first, will receive 3000 points. Well, she was supposed to earn 3000, but because she broke two records, she received an extra two thousand, making her total 5000."

His words bring about a lot of envy. Especially from the guy in last place, he's practically crying tears of blood.

"These points can be used to buy things from the store, such as techniques, devil fruits, weapons. You could also buy simple things like new clothes, food, even accessories to decorate your rooms.

And this brings us to the final benefit, your rooms.

Same as before. Those in the top five will get their own rooms and everyone else will be paired in either twos or threes depending on your ranking. Obviously, you will all be separated by gender.

Rias will now give you a tour of this place before taking you to your rooms. Your belongings have already been taken there and you will find a schedule in your room informing you on when you should attend lessons or other activities. Until then, goodbye and good luck"

Hmm, he really does have a way with words huh. The system ain't too bad either.

The top students will get used to their "posh" lifestyle and will work hard to keep it, the other students will envy their "posh" lifestyle and work hard to steal it.

The point system is a way to reward us by dangling fancy prizes in front of us and making us chase them. Carrot and stick method.

The freedom part too. If the top five don't go to class, others will think we will laze around giving them the illusion that they can catch up. It's also a way to discipline us, since if we don't work hard, we'll be overtaken, and our benefits will be stolen.

Not bad.

~~~~~~~~~~
After going through the whole tour mumbo jumbo, I was taken to my room and then left to my own devices.
The power of freedom.
*Raaaahh*
Hmm? An eagle? Must be my imagination.
Looking around, the room is simple, In fact it's plain. There's a bed in the corner, a desk with a lamp on it and a chair tucked under it. There's a wardrobe in the corner for me to place my clothes.
And that's it.
I guess I do prefer my space though. The others must be cramped as hell. Plus, I can always spend my points on decorating it.
Walking over to my bed, I place my bag containing my clothes on it before looking over to my desk where a little catalogue lay.
It's the catalogue containing all the things we can buy with our points.
Flipping through it, you really can buy pretty much anything. I did notice that the six marine techniques I have learned are in here too. It's only 1000 points per technique, but I guess it makes sense, pretty much all of the higher ups use them and they give a decent advantage against most pirates.
There was something, however, that caught my attention. In the "technique" section, there are many different techniques for several different weapons. But what really caught my attention is the technique called "Haki"
There were two techniques:
Observation Haki and Armament Haki.
There's no explanation behind what either of them are, but what caught my attention is the price behind both.
Armament Haki: 5000
Observation Haki: 5000
Both cost all my current points. The guy in last place, ranked 30th, gets 100 points per month, if he stays at the bottom, after two years he won't have even half the cost of one of them.
This means one of two things, firstly they are dangerous and can only be obtained by the best. Or second, they are extremely strong and can only be used by the best.
...Or both.
I'll have to ask about it tomorrow.
Let's have a look at any devil fruits before I have a nap, see if any of them catch my fancy.
~~~

Devil Fruits:

----

Akushu Akushu no Mi:

To make a user's natural smells smell 100 times stronger.

Type: Paracemia

Price: 3500

"Useless"

----

Anbaransu Anbaransu no Mi:

Allows the user to destroy the equilibrioception of a human target by touching (Lose their sense of balance)

Type: Paracemia

Price: 5000

"Funny but useless"

----

Aus Aus no Mi, Model: Tasmanian Devil:

To become a full or hybrid Tasmanian devil.

Type: Zoan

Price: 6000

"Ugly"

----

Baka Baka no Mi:

To fire beams that cause anyone to become temporarily stupid if hit

Type: Paracemia

Price: 7500

"Hilarious, though inefficient against people like Garp"

----

hmm, useless, useless, funny, stupid, weird... down right creepy. None of them stand out nor seem powerful.

Only two of them seem some what decent.

----

Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard.

Allows the user to transform into a leopard hybrid and a full leopard at will, making him leopard-human

Type: Zoan

Price: 10,000

----

Bafu Bafu no Mi:

Grants the user the ability to "Buff" a 'stat' whether from themselves, an item or even an ally. Buff can be up to ten times.

Type: Paracemia

Price: 10,000

----

The first one would increase my physical abilities by a fair amount. I could also maybe even gain claws or something along those lines.... Plus who doesn't like Neko's?

Only heretics that's who.

CEASE YOUR HERESY.

And the second one would allow me to boost one of my attributes such as speed or strength up to ten times.

However, I have heard of a fruit called the more more fruit that allows the user to amplify something by a hundred times... Which is ten times better than the buff buff fruit.

This would allow me to punch with a force of over 200 tons.

I may as well just wait. It's only the first day and I have no interest in wasting my points on a devil fruit that may or may not be good.

Besides, I still need to ask about Haki.

Guess I'll do it all tomorrow.

~~~~~~~~~
There was supposed to be a timeskip but I figured I would do it next chap so sorry for anyone who was expecting one.
This is my first fight scene. Let me know how I did.
If you have any advice, let me know.
Thanks for reading.
