6 Time Skip

Garp picked Luffy up after six months passed. The little egg was in her Pokeball, so he didn't have to explain the second strange creature around him. He was lucky that only his Starter disliked returning to his Pokeball, maybe this was a curse that followed him from the Pokemon anime.

Garp and Luffy were in a heated discussion at this moment.

"Old man, train me!", Luffy shouted.

"Who wants to train a little brat like you? Grow up first, you twerp!"

"Don't you want your grandson to become a successful marine soldier like his grandfather? Then you have to train me!"

Gible saw that the face of the old man began to turn red out of embarrassment. Like a long lost dream was finally coming true.

"You, you, you…", Garp couldn't even answer. He was trapped in a fantasy world where he saw his grandson as the strongest marine in all seas.

"Train me. Five years is all I need. After that, I can kick your ass!"

"Five years? Do you think I have so much time to train you brat? One day!"

"What? Old fool, what can we do in one day? Four years and 300 days!"

"No, two days!"

Gible couldn't help but sweat. This conversation continued until they arrived at Foosha village.

"Alright little brat, I will train you for one year. I can not leave the marines for more than one year or Sengoku will kill me. One year, I can't give you more."

Luffy grinned. This was more than he hoped for. This one year was more than enough to learn armament Haki and maybe his old man would show him other things, too.

"But your body is too small for that now. And I can't leave the marines at this moment. When you turn 14 years old, I will take you out for one year."

Luffy nodded and laughed.

"Promise me, old monkey!"

"What's with that nickname, don't you respect your old man?"

Luffy received Garp's fist of love as a farewell. Luffy knew that this old monkey would return after a year when he was seven years old to abandon him in a house full of mountain bandits.

Luffy couldn't help but feel the affection of his grandfather. Such a lovable guy.

...

One year passed since Luffy's last meeting with Garp. He met Shanks and his crew but nothing interesting happened. Shanks was flirting with Makino and Luffy saw his destined devil fruit but he didn't take a bite in the end. He asked Shanks if he could have that fruit, but he declined, he didn't want to give a devil fruit to a seven-year-old boy, that was understandable.

The biggest change from the original story was that Shanks didn't give his straw hat to Luffy and he had two arms after he left. Luffy wasn't the same child that would shout out that he would become a pirate. He acted more like a child that was too intelligent for his age and he wasn't goofy enough to remind Shanks of his old captain.

Luffy didn't like to wear hats so he was okay with that.

The bandits were the victim of a little dragon and didn't even meet Shanks and his crew. The reason was that the dragon required experience points and they were hard to find on this island.

After one year of hard work, Gible only managed to level up to level 16. Luffy focused to train his body and the rest went into his observation Haki. The dragon would still train with him in his Haki, but he didn't have success so Luffy wasn't sure if Pokemon were able to learn Haki.

He thought about leaving the island so he could find stronger opponents but they both focused on the little egg Pokemon all this time. Luffy had the Exp. Share Item so most of Gible's EXP went directly to the supporter. This year, the little egg reached level 10.

...

Garp arrived shortly after Shanks and it wasn't a surprise for Luffy that he was now a prisoner in the house of mountain bandits.

The first time Luffy saw Ace he had to admit that this dude was a scary and grumpy kid. He greeted Luffy with spit, that obviously didn't land on his face because of his training in observation Haki.

Dadan, the leader of this pack of scoundrels, was pleased after she learned that Luffy wasn't like other kids. He would be out the whole day, sometimes returning only late in the night, but he would always bring tons of food and wouldn't cause other trouble.

Luffy obviously didn't follow Ace as the original one did. He didn't like to follow around kids and play with them.

The strange thing was that he saw that two boys were following him almost every day. He didn't show that he noticed them, but how could he not sense them with his level of Haki.

Ace and Sabo were watching Luffy and Gible train. There were hiding behind a tree with stars shining in their eyes.

"Ace, is this a real dragon? So cool!"

Ace nodded his head.

"He doesn't only have this dragon, there is also a little thing that looks like an egg. It doesn't seem strong, but I saw them fight and it is really useful!"

"Let us steal his dragon! This boy is much younger than us. I want this dragon in our group."

"Alright, Sabo. Let us ambush him!"

Luffy could only sigh at the two. Well, maybe he would gain experience when he fought those little monsters.

He didn't have to wait long before two kids attacked him with their staffs. Thanks to his Haki he could dodge them easily.

"Don't fight them, Gible. I will take care of them. I didn't have a challenge in the last few weeks."

Ace and Sabo looked angry towards this cheeky boy. Did he think a little brat like him could take the two of them alone?

Both of them started to attack, but Luffy managed to dodge every single attack without effort. To tell the truth, Luffy was really astonished by the strength of those two. Both of them, when it comes to physical strength and experience in a fight, wasn't one bit inferior to him. Maybe they were a little bit stronger because their body was more developed. Only in terms of speed was Luffy a little bit faster and that in combination with his Haki made him the clear winner.

Sabo and Ace were lying on the ground, beaten up with a little Luffy sitting on top of them. This was the power of Haki, and Luffy couldn't have thought that Observation Haki was this strong.

If you would ask him three years ago which Haki he would choose if he could only learn one of them then he would say Armament Haki. Alone the fact that it could harm Logia users and could help in defense and offense let it seem like the superior choice of the two.

Only after he learned Haki to this degree could he understand the full potential of Observation Haki. Not only could he sense almost all the people on the island, but he could also read every movement they would use in a fight against him. That wasn't all, Luffy had the feeling that sometimes he could even look into the head of other people, see what they were thinking or if they would harm him. He couldn't control this ability at all, but maybe he will in the future. Not to forget that he would be able to see into the future, but that stage required a lot of training.

The days continued but Luffy was still followed by the two kids every day. They challenged him every day and got their ass kicked, sometimes it would be Gible and sometimes it would be Luffy himself. They accepted Luffy after several months as the 'big brother', even if they were embarrassed about having a big brother that was three years younger than them. It was better to call him big brother then to get beaten up by a stubborn little dragon.

Luffy was astonished by how fast those two kids improved. In each fight, they would be a little bit stronger so it was good for him to have someone he could spar against. He even let them train in their Observation Haki. Happiny was responsible for beating them from behind with her Pound attack. It was free experience for the little egg Luffy wouldn't want to waste.

Even if Luffy was annoyed to hang out with two little kids every day, he started to like the two brats. They couldn't learn observation Haki as quick as Luffy, in the end, they were only two brats. With the training provided by Luffy, they improved by leaps and bounds and after a while, they started to target the criminals in the Grey Terminal. Even the Blue Jam pirates weren't left behind and in the end, they became experience points for his little dragon. He would make sure that the tragedies of the original story wouldn't repeat, he didn't have time for tragic backstories. He even considered to take care of Sabo's father, but in the end, he didn't want to upset the blond boy.

The true game-changer in this period was the little egg Happiny. Luffy didn't regret the decision to choose her of all his Pokemon. She would heal all three of them after every fight and after that, they would feel like they never fought in the first place. Luffy decided that he would heal Sabo and Ace, too, because they were the perfect sparring partner and after a short time stronger than all those beasts in the forest.

Because of Happiny's cheat like healing abilities, the three kids fought like robots, never tired or injured. Thanks to the constant healing Happiny was gaining a lot of EXP and was leveling up at a fast pace.

After a couple of years, Luffy thought that his body was strong enough for armament Haki. He didn't want to wait until he could learn it from Garp, so he tried to practice it. The other reason was that his observation Haki was so advanced that it was hard to improve it. He started to train it since he was five years old after all.

To train armament Haki was difficult. All he could do was to let him be attacked by the brats and his Pokemon. He tried to build a 'wall' with his will alone that would protect him, and in the first months, it failed miserably. It was a hard time learning it because he was beaten up every day. It was harder to learn observation Haki because at that time he didn't have Happiny, so alone for that he was happy that he chose the little egg.

But it was a torture for several months.

He was attacked countless times, healed, and then attacked again. This circle was something he didn't want to repeat but one day, when Sabo attacked him with his staff, the boy was bounced back without Luffy doing anything.

That was the moment he knew that all of this training wasn't wasted.

The funny thing though, was that Gible would experience the same torture all this time. He was so stubborn that he wanted to learn Armament Haki, too. He didn't have Observation Haki after all this while, but he was still too stubborn to give up. Luffy didn't know if his first partner was a stubborn fool or had admirable willpower.

...

Luffy stood in front of the sea in Foosha Village and looked towards his two brothers who were starting their journey. Sabo and Ace both turned 17 and started the journey as a pirate. Luffy couldn't help but sweat at the two guys. They were monsters in the original story, but with his help and the help of his cheat egg both of them could directly start in the New World if you consider their abilities in Haki only.

Of course, both of them were still no match for their 'big bro' who was three years younger than them, even if you ignored that he had all his monsters by his side.

It was finally time for Garp to show up. This one year with his old man would be the last part of his training, after that he would finally start his adventure. He looked towards his partner, the little dragon Gible, and was a little depressed. After all those years this little guy was really strong, Luffy didn't know if even he could defeat this little monster. The problem was that he didn't evolve. Luffy tried everything, but this guy was still a Gible!

"Please, dear Arceus, don't curse Gible with another curse for starter pokemon. I don't want that he ends like a certain Pikachu, forever stuck in his base form!"

Luffy couldn't think further because he saw the arrival of a huge marine ship. He was happy that his old man didn't forget their promise, with this unreliable guy, everything was possible.

It was time to learn some of the techniques that made this guy so strong.
