1 Reincarnation

Tom watched into a mirror and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Two hours have passed since Tom arrived in this new world. He remembered that he watched the leaks about the new Pokemon games Sword and Shield that would come out in a week. After that, the world went dark and he awoke in this new body.

Tom was sure that this was not his body. He was a twenty-five-year-old man before, but now he wasn't older than five.

What was even more strange was the little village he woke up in. This didn't look like a village in the 21st century on earth. This was a little village with many windmills and it looked like he was six hundred years in the past.

The most ridiculous thing though was the face of his new body. He knew this face, he loved and hated the soul that originally housed in this body. It was the body of the protagonist of his favorite anime.

One Piece.

He awoke in the body of a five-year-old boy named Monkey D. Luffy.

Tom had to take a deep breath. He awoke in the world of his favorite manga, as the protagonist none the less. This situation was like a dream. He pinched his cheeks, thinking that this was an illusion, but the pain made him realize that this was the reality.

Tom calmed down after a while. A wide grin was on his face.

The strange thing was that Tom had two things in his pocket. The first thing was a little ball. The top of the ball was red and the bottom was white. Everyone from earth who was interested in anime would immediately realize what this item was.

It was a Pokeball.

The second item he had looked like a red smartphone. After Tom powered the device up he realized that it was a special Pokedex. The Pokedex began to speak with a robotic voice.

[Reincarnation to the One Piece world was successful. All 45 Pokemon from your last played game was transferred with you.]

Tom frowned. He was reincarnated with 45 Pokemon? He looked at the screen of the Pokedex with confusion. It looked like the home screen of a smartphone, with many different apps he could open. Even communication was possible.

Tom tipped on the first app that was called 'Pokedex'.

A list with the before mentioned 45 Pokemon opened. Tom was familiar with these Pokemon because they were the 45 Pokemon that he spend hours on to catch and breed. They were all of his favorite Pokemon that he saved on his latest Pokemon game. Tom didn't catch all of the Pokemon when he played the game. He caught only those he truly liked. He wasted many hours with breeding and every one of those 45 Pokemon had the perfect nature and attacks. He never imagined that all of this time he wasted would be useful for him now.

He clicked on the first Pokemon on the list and a new page with a picture of the Pokemon appeared.

[Bulbasaur

Seed Pokémon

For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seed on its back.

Ability: Overgrow

Level: 5

Attacks: Sludge, Sunny Day, Protect, Leech Seed]

Tom was confused. This wasn't the same Pokemon that he had on his game. He had a Venusaur on level 100. Even the attacks weren't the one he had when his Bulbasaur was level five. Tom thought that whoever brought him to this world did change the moves of his Pokemon so that he wouldn't be too strong from the start. All of his Pokemon had random moves, sometimes they were good but sometimes really bad. After he checked every Pokemon on his list he realized that every one of them was now level 5 and in their base form. So he had to train them all before they could help him in a fight.

Tom noticed that he couldn't see the last four Pokemon in his box. Then he remembered that he had those special Pokemon.

"Fuck, I forgot about them. If I knew I would be reborn with my Pokemon, I would have caught all of those legendary bastards…"

The last four were obviously legendary or mystical Pokemon. Tom couldn't wait to unleash these monsters and wreak havoc in the One Piece world. He tipped on one of those hidden Pokemon and a piece of information appeared on his Pokedex.

[This Pokemon can only be summoned if the Trainer Level is high enough]

"What the hell is the Trainer Level?"

Tom returned to the home screen and looked at the second app that was called 'Trainer'.

There he saw a picture of himself. Under his picture was his current level, which was obviously level 1. He could see that he needed 100 EXP for his level up. Tom saw a question mark and tipped on it.

[The Trainer Level shows how experienced a Trainer is. With higher levels, new functions and abilities will be given to the Trainer.

The Trainer Level also shows how many Pokemon a trainer can summon and use. At the current level, only one Pokemon can be summoned. If one Pokemon is chosen, then the trainer can't summon another of his 45 Pokemon unless the Trainer Level goes up. If the level is high enough, all 45 Pokemon can be summoned. The Trainer Level also restricts how many Pokemon can be summoned at the same time. Currently, only one Pokemon can be summoned, even if the trainer has more than one Pokemon in his team. The trainer isn't restricted with only 6 Pokemon like in the game. If the level is high enough, then all Pokemon are available at any time.

The exception to this rule is the Starter Pokemon. The Starter Pokemon is allowed to be summoned without restriction.

The Trainer Level also gives many more benefits with higher levels, but these abilities can only be seen when the Trainer achieved the required level.

Trainer Level gets EXP if the Trainer battles in battle by himself or if he achieves extraordinary feats with his Pokemon.]

"Well, that is surprising", He said after he read all the information about his Trainer Level. This was very important. If he chose Bulbasaur as his first Pokemon, he would be stuck with this Pokemon and couldn't use any of his other 44 Pokemon on his box. Only if his level increased could he add a second Pokemon to his team. So he had to unlock all of his Pokemon if he wanted to use them. It was good that his Starter was an exception to this rule.

Tom returned to the home screen and looked at the next app. He frowned because the name of the app was 'Devildex'.

He opened the app and couldn't help but laugh when he read the function of this app.

[The Devildex contains all information about Devil Fruits. If the user acquired a Devil Fruit, then all abilities can be checked with this application without eating the Devil Fruit. The information about the Devil Fruit can only be seen if the trainer acquired the Devil Fruit or is facing an enemy/friend who has eaten a Devil Fruit]

This was a fun feature in Tom's opinion. Instead of scanning a Pokemon he encountered, he could scan his enemies and see what devil fruits they have eaten. This was a cheat. If he one day found a fruit, he didn't have to take the risk to eat a silly fruit. This was one of Tom's concerns because there were many stupid fruits in this world.

There were many other apps like a map that resembled google maps from smartphones. The only problem was that he couldn't see the whole world with his map, he first had to encounter an island before he could see the name and structure of it. It was like an RPG, Tom had to first visit the place before it was seen on the map. The only good thing was that Tom didn't have to personally visit the island, a Pokemon would be enough.

After a lot of thoughts and plans, Tom arrived at the last app. It was called 'Starter Pokemon' and Tom couldn't help but smile at that. He knew exactly what this app would do.

He tipped on the app and a piece of information appeared.

[One of the Pokemon will be chosen to be your Starter Pokemon. This process is random. Would you like to get your first Pokemon?]

Tom couldn't help but shout at his Pokedex.

"What? Random Starter? This isn't Pokemon-like at all! Why can't I choose between three Pokemon myself? This…"

Tom couldn't help but curse. Well, he got so many benefits, maybe he was a little bit spoiled. He clicked yes and couldn't wait to see his first Pokemon.

The Pokeball in his hands opened and a little silhouette was visible. The Pokemon roared towards his trainer.

"Gible!", screamed Tom and hugged his new partner.

While Gible had a confused look on his face, Tom couldn't be happier at this moment.

"A dragon as a starter! That is pure luck! Gible, we-", before Tom could finish his sentence, he screamed because his new partner bit him in the shoulder.

"Gible! How could you…"

Tom never felt so much pain. This little guy had really sharp teeth.

Tom looked towards the 'little guy' and realized that he was not so little after all. Tom was a five-year-old brat so he was a little bit taller than one meter, and Gible's height was at 0.7 meters. He looked really big from the perspective of a 5-year-old boy.

Tom opened the Pokedex and checked his Starter Pokemon.

[Gible

Land Shark Pokémon

It attacks using its huge mouth. While its attacks are powerful, it hurts itself out of clumsiness, too.

Ability: Rough Skin (Enemies making contact with this Pokemon lose 1/8 of their maximum HP, rounded down.)

Nature: Adamant

Level: 5

Attacks: Tackle, Sand Attack, Scary Face]

Tom looked at his new partner with confusion. Where does Scary Face come from? This was obviously an egg move, but the original Gible from his game never had this move. Those random moves this system was giving him changed everything. The nature and ability of his Pokemon were the same as in his game.

Tom sighed at his Gible. To train a Pokemon in real life was different than in a game, and this Pokemon had the nature adamant, that would mean that his first Pokemon would be a stubborn little dragon with a huge mouth, that could be very painful for him. He had to take more consideration about the information in the Pokedex so he will be prepared, this was real life after all and not some game.

"The Pokedex said that it hurts itself out of clumsiness, I have to be careful about you, little guy. Well, until I grow up a little bit more I will call you big guy. Let us two be the very best like no one ever was!"

"Gible!", answered the little Dragon with his little arms raised to the sky. Now was time for the thing every new Pokemon Master would do if he wanted to sweep over the game without any difficulty. Grinding!
