5 New Partner

Luffy thought for a long time which Pokemon he should choose. Obviously, the water-type was the strongest in this world. Not only were devil fruit users weak to water, but this whole world was also a big ocean, with only the Red Line that was an exception.

He looked at his Pokedex and checked all the water Pokemon he had on his box. He had 5 Pokemon with the water type, and that if you ignore the legendary Pokemon that were hidden.

He was lucky that he liked the water type so much in the Pokemon games. It was the category he had the most Pokemon if you ignore the dragon type. He had six Pokemon with the dragon type, one was already in his team so five remained in the box. Tom was a huge dragon fan in the past, it was the reason he was so happy to have Gible as a starter.

He watched at his water Pokemon and couldn't help but frown. Three of them were only useful in the water until they evolved. The other two were good, but he wouldn't prefer them at this point in time. So maybe it would be better to choose water for his third party member. He was sure that he was able to get his Trainer Level high enough before he started his journey.

He looked at the flying-type Pokemon he had and started to think.

He doesn't have many flying types at the moment, because many of his Pokemon acquired the flying type in their last evolution, especially his dragons and that would take too long. He wanted a flying-type Pokemon that he could ride on, so he could visit any island he wanted. It would be more useful to just fly on a bird than to ride a water Pokemon. He could do many things with this even though he was a child at the moment.

The only problem was that the flying type he had at the moment was too small to bring him anywhere in their base form. They had to evolve for that, and that would take too long. He had one Pokemon that could fly him to every island he wanted, a Pokemon that didn't need evolution and was big enough, but he wasn't sure if he wanted this Pokemon as his second teammate because his second type was rock.

There were so many possibilities. What was with the ghost type? He had two Pokemon from that category, but he wasn't sure. A ghost type was like a Logia, so 'physical' attacks were useless. But what counted as physical attacks? Fists, obviously. Was he immune to swords and guns, too? If that was true, then ghost type would be invincible at this time. Could a ghost type be hit with Haki or could he evade even those attacks? And ghost type attacks were useless to the normal type. Was a human a normal type? For Luffy, humans were pretty normal, so he would be screwed if ghost attacks wouldn't work on humans. But if his theory was true, then ghosts would be invincible at least until he encountered a strong devil fruit user.

Then there was fire, fire was always strong, but there was too much water in this world. Electric? That would be useful, too.

Luffy couldn't decide!

He sat down and had to think. A Pokemon was useful in many ways, not just fighting. There were Pokemon who can heal others, Pokemon that could inflict Status effects that could poison, freeze and paralyze. Pokemon that would help him to move from one island to the other, others could dig tunnels through the ground.

Every one of them had other strategic advantages. With Gible, he had a Pokemon that was a strong fighter but didn't have many advantages in the support department. In East Blue weren't many opponents that could take him down, with Arlong being the strongest with only a bounty of 20.000.000 Berry. He couldn't leave East Blue for a couple of years, so a supporter would be more useful than a Pokemon that would strengthen him in combat.

Luffy looked at the Pokemon he had with the normal type. He couldn't believe he would choose this Pokemon as his second mate. If this were in the Pokemon game, he would never choose that Pokemon if he had the choice, not as a second teammate. But this little girl was the most useful in his current situation.

And after he saw the attack moves this Pokemon had, he couldn't help but sweat. Those random attacks are sometimes bad, but in this special case, they are incredible.

This girl is an angel send by god!

He didn't hesitate and choose this Pokemon as his second teammate.

A small Pokemon appeared that was shaped like an egg. It had a light pink body and a curly outgrowth that resembles a ponytail on top of its head. This Pokemon was the baby form of the iconic Pokemon you would find in every Pokemon Center in the anime.

Luffy scanned his new partner with his Pokedex, to make sure he was seeing things right.

[Happiny

Playing House Pokémon

It likes to carry around a small rock. It may wander around others feet and cause them to stumble.

Gender: Female

Nature: Bold

Ability: Natural Cure (This Pokemon heals all of his own HP and Status effects when it returns to the Pokeball for more than one hour)

Level: 5

Attacks: Metronome, Heal Bell, Helping Hand, Heal Pulse, Sing, Charm]

The description made Luffy frown. A Pokemon that wanders around others feet and causes them to stumble? He remembered that his first Pokemon stumbles all the time because of his clumsiness, and now his second caused others to stumble. This wasn't a good sign, was it?

His second partner showed him a lot in terms of how this Pokemon system worked. The first thing he noticed was the ability Natural Cure. He was sure that in the game, this ability had a different effect, but Luffy thought that the system would change everything so that it could make sense in this reality. This wasn't a world where fights were only between Pokemon and the rules for a fight weren't set in stone either.

What made him worry the most was the nature of this little egg. Bold? Damn it, Happiny was the healer and supporter of his party. Why had it to be bold?

The last part was the most astonishing and the biggest reason he chose a little egg girl over a monstrous dragon or some other badass Pokemon. Look at those attacks! And many of them were customized for this world. He couldn't help but read the description of all of the attack moves this little cheat had.

[Metronome: Selects any move at random and uses it. Moves the user already knows are not eligible. Assist, meta, protection, and reflection moves are also not eligible; specifically, assist, chatter, copycat, counter, covet, destiny-bond, detect, endure, feint, focus-punch, follow-me, helping-hand, me-first, metronome, mimic, mirror-coat, mirror-move, protect, quick-guard, sketch, sleep-talk, snatch, struggle, switcheroo, thief, trick, and wide-guard will not be selected by this move. This move cannot be copied by mimic or mirror-move, nor selected by assist, metronome, or sleep-talk.]

[Heal Bell: Removes major status effects-effects, fatigue and confusion from every team member in the user's party.]

[Helping Hand: Boosts the power of the target's moves by 50% until the end of this turn. This move cannot be copied by mirror-move, nor selected by assist or metronome.]

[Heal Pulse: Heals the target for half its max HP.]

[Sing: Puts the target to sleep.]

[Charm: Lowers the target's Attack by two stages.]

This was the perfect supporter. The little egg could heal, cure status effect, even FATIGUE could be healed. He had to test something out.

"Little egg, can you cast Helping Hand on me?"

The little egg nodded eagerly. After she used the attack, Luffy couldn't help but laugh.

The move worked on him. And he could feel that his attacks increased their power by 50%. This was too good to be true.

With all those healing spells, he and Gible could train the whole day without getting tired. This would improve their training to a huge degree. And the most astonishing thing was Heal Bell. The description said clearly that it removes fatigue from every team member. Does that mean he can train the whole night? He had to test it out.

Luffy laughed out loud.

"Okay, buddies. Let us return to Foosha Village. The world is ours to take!"

Luffy began to walk but then he stumbled and fell to the ground. He saw Gible who was looking at him while laughing because this time it wasn't the dragon who fell. He looked to the ground and saw a little egg grinning at him. This girl was the reason he fell to the ground.

Luffy sighed.

"This could be troublesome."
