24 24. The moon

The moon was one of her favourite things. And to think it has been long she had seen it made her want to jump for joy and kiss Jacob. But she couldn't do any. Adrenaline coerced through her and she yearned to go back home. She was actually missing her horrible boss.

Accepting that she actually did miss him made her want to laugh and roll her eyes till it was lost in her socket. She just realized how close she was to escaping after a few months and that was very close.

Jacob stepped out after she did, his eyes adjusted to the moonlight shocker. His heart was beating at an alarming rate. He sure was getting cold feet if he's caught the alpha will never forgive him and may end his life.

He was beginning to question if indeed he was doing the right thing but he got his answer when he looked over at Gloria's happy face when she gazed at the moon. No one deserved to stay in that dungeon for a day especially for doing nothing other than being the mate of an alpha. No one deserved to especially when they were carrying the child of the alpha.

"Let's get out of here." He said pulling her away from the tunnel and into the woods. "You have to stay behind the trees we might be outside the gate but the guards are just as vigilant outside as they are inside. Three are stationed here and they are three of the best pack fighters I can't take them on my own."

"I have to be able to defend myself too." Gloria said assimilating all he had said. They were resting behind a tall tree in the forest after walking for some time. It was dark outside and the trees looked never ending. There was a road nearby Gloria could see it but she knew they couldn't go by road at least not now, not on foot

"You are weak. I can't risk putting you in more danger."

"I'll be In greater danger if I cannot protect myself Jacob. Let me have the gun, I'll help out." She gave him an assuring smile. He sighed knowing that she was right.

He trust his hands in his pocket and brought out a silver dagger from his bag, he handed it over to her. "Be careful the last thing I want is your death." Gloria took it and nodded. "I won't die at least not today."

He nodded and smiled faintly. He took her hand as they skimmed the bushes trying to keep far away from sight as possible. "We just have to keep moving to keep a safe distance away from the gate. Someone will get a car here in the morning when the guards are distracted and most have gone for a run or to eat. Until morning then we have to keep a safe distance." Jacob told her as they started to walk again.

Gloria looked over at the mansion in despair. Her life before she was kidnapped wasn't perfect but the man in there had made it worse. She was going to come back and when she did, he would regret ever taking her that night. It was a promise.

Her stomach started to hurt and churn but she could not bring herself to complain to Jacob. It felt like the child in her was determined to kill her because with every second that passed she became weaker and weaker. Something in her told her that this wasn't going to be fixed by resting.

She needed help from a witch. What was going on in her system was not medical she could feel it. This was why she hated magic. It only confused.
