3 Chapter Three

Dina POV

I stop by the coffee shop near my job and grab my usual. Light and sweet coffee, with a bacon, egg, and cheese. My mouth waters just thinking about it. I was so tired last night I ended up falling asleep and skipping dinner.

The smell in the Cafe starts to make me feel nauseas. I quickly grab my food and walk over to the office. I make my way the to the elevator, returning good mornings from coworkers with nods.

I walk into my office and sat my food and coffee on the desk. I take set my coat and purse on the coat rack. My nausea finally settling, I take a sip of my coffee. I turn on my computer, and start to the emails have received since I left yesterday.

A knock sounds at the door, pulling me away from my work.

"Come in" I yell.

"Good morning. Can I steal you for a minute? I could use your guidance in this meeting." Joe asks, the frustration showing on his face.

"Sure" I say grabbing my coffee and following him to the conference room.

There's only two other people in her from another company.

"Good morning gentleman. My name is Dina." I announce walking into the room.

"Good Morning. I'm John, and this is Aaron." John says leaning over the table reaching his hand out.

I shake his hand and then sit down. There is bagels in the middle with assorted cream cheese on the side. Looking at them brings the nausea back.

"Can you go over these numbers and make sure the finalization of them will not effect this quarters progress?" Joe asks handing some documents to me.

"Sure" I mumble, as my stomach is turning upside down.

I'm looking at the page, but my head is getting dizzy. I rub my forehead with my hands trying to soothe the ache.

The smell is starting to overwhelm me, and I look up from the papers at Joe.

He gives me a questioning look before saying "Are you alright?"

I nod my head and look back down, only for the dizziness to hit harder. I shake my head. put the documents down, and stand up.

"Excuse me gentlemen. I will be right back." I say before rushing out and running to the nearest bathroom.

I can't get to the toilet fast enough, as I miss and puke on the seat.

I'm emptying my contents from the day before, and whatever stomach acid is left.

After about 5 minutes of dry heaving, I'm able to flush the toilet and wash my hands and face and the sink. Looking into the mirror I noticed the color in face has faded.

I walk back to the conference room, and grab the papers. I take a quick glance at them running the numbers in my head before looking at Joe and saying "Yes the numbers are good, this quarters progress will, if anything, increase."

Joe gives me a smile before nodding, turning back to the conversation with the men.

The meeting runs most the morning, and at lunch time I decide to slip away and go home. Feeling nausea again I climb into bed ready to fall asleep.

The hours pass away, and I realize I fell asleep for a few hours. I groan as I reach for my phone.

10 missed calls from Shannon

3 missed calls from Joe

5 texts from Shannon

2 texts from Joe

Joe:

Is everything okay?

Dina?

I sigh, realizing I never texted him.

I'm sorry, I got sick and went home to sleep it out. I must have ate something that didn't settle in my stomach. Ill see you on Monday.

I respond.

Shannon:

Why aren't you answering?

Answer the phone!

I got good news.

Dina

Are you okay?

I get up out of bed dialing Shannon, while going to the kitchen to grab water.

"Hey, what the hell were you doing? I've been trying to get ahold of you for hours. I'm on my way to your house now." She yells threw the phone.

"I fell asleep. I've been sick today." I explain.

"Well open the door I'm here now." She hung up.

I go over to the door and unlock it, in a matter of seconds she is through the door.

"What is going on with you?" She asks shutting the door.

"I must have ate something bad last night or tonight. I've been throwing up all day and came home to rest. Why? Whats going on?" I question, grabbing my water bottle and taking a sip.

"Well if you watched the news more you would know. My firm has been invited to attend that famous wedding."

I spit everything out of my mouth, "What?"

"Ya, Isn't this great? This is such a huge advancement for me."

My head starts to spin, I feel the water rumbling in my stomach. I close my eyes trying to calm my stomach down.

"Dina, are you listening to me?"

I nod my head, and at that moment I realized I was going to puke again.

I past the Shannon, straight to the bathroom, slamming the door.

After 5 minutes, I'm feeling a little better. I brush my teeth, open the door, to see Shannon, anxiously waiting for me.

"Why don't you go to urgent care?" She suggest. "Maybe they can give you some medicine."

"No, let's just go to the store and get some over the counter." I grab my purse.

Ten minutes later

We get out if the car and head into Walgreens. I grab a couple different nausea medications, and start heading to the counter to pay. I walk past the tampon aisle and stop for a second.

I look up at Shannon, "Whats today's date?"

"The 10th why?"

I gasp, and quickly grab a pregnancy test.

"No, you can't be. Why would you be anyways?" She laughs.

I glare at her, "Its not funny, plus with everything going on in the office, I completely forgot. I was due a week ago. Every month on the 3rd."

We quickly pay and ride home in silence.

Once we get back to my house, the first thing I do is go to the bathroom and pee on the stick.

I set the timer on my phone for the 2 mins that it requires. Instead of waiting I go out to the kitchen leaving it on the bathroom counter.

"So? Are you pregnant?"

"I don't know. I didn't check. I'm too scared."

I say shrugging my shoulders.

"Fine, I'll check."

Before I can stop her she is already in the bathroom.

Her face goes blank, and she looks right at me.

"Give me that." I grab the test and look down. "Fuck."

"Who is it?" she asks walking back into kitchen.

"Who do you think?" I raise my eyebrow at her.

"I'm not sure so I'm asking you. I don't know all your sex life." She responds.

"Chris." is all I say.

Her eyes widen, her jaw drops. "He's getting married this week. What are you going to do?"

"I have to tell him don't I? Its his child just as much as mine?"

"When and how?" she curiously asks me.

"Don't you know where he works?"

"Well ya, but still you can't just walk in." she sputters out.

"No, but you can. You have that invitation don't you? Can you make an appointment or something?"

"I do have to pick up the invitations anyways. We are required to wear passes. I'll call the office." She says grabbing her phone walking to the living room.

She comes back a few minutes later. and grabbed a pen and pad off the coffee table.

"Here's the office details, just tell them your picking up something from Chris for Holland Firm." She explains.

"Thank you." I hug her and grab my purse. "I'll be back."

"Your going now?" she yells.

"Yes." I say as I slam the front door shut."

I'm driving to his office with thoughts running wild through my mind.

What if he doesn't remember me?

What am I going to do with a baby?

I shouldn't be doing this he's getting married.

What if he doesn't want the baby?

I park the car, and take a deep breath before entering his office, passing security and heading into the elevator. The elevator arrives at his office as I step out I see his familiar fiancee stepping in.

"The office is closing" She says.

"I'll be quick. I'm just grabbing something for Holland firm." I state.

I go to knock on his door, pausing for a moment unsure of how to tell him.

As I am about to knock on the door, the door swings open and Chris slams right into me.

"Hey, what the fuck?" He sneered, dropping his keys.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were coming out." I quietly say. Ashamed and embrassed of what just happened, just like last time we met.

"Can I help you?" he asks reaching for his keys.

"My names Dina, we meet about a month ago. I know your really busy, but I need to talk to you about something important." I say speaking very quiet.

He stops for a moment, as he looks at me. Our eyes meet and it's like the same fire we had the night we went home together.

"S-S-Sure, come inside." He sputters.

He motions for me to follow him and points to a chair for me to sit at.

I play with my hands fumbling with what words to say.

"Is everything alright?" he asks, confusion written on his face.

"Not really." I sigh "I'm pregnant." I say softly while looking down at my hands.

"What?" he asks in a shocked voice.

"I'm pregnant" I repeat a little more firmer.

"Your pregnant?" he repeats.

"Yes, and if you don't believe me, here's the test." I say, grabbing the test out of my purse.

He takes the test and looks at it more closely.

"Are you sure its mine?" He asks curiously.

"Are you serious?" I scoff at him. "Yes its yours. I've only slept with two people in my life. If you must know. You and my ex. My ex and I split up Months ago. We can even do a DNA test to confirm." I suggest. Pissed off that he insinuates that I'm some kind of slut.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you. What do you want to do?" He asks.

"Isn't this a decision for both of us? I mean it is our baby. I didn't make it myself." I sarcastically say.

"Well how far along are you?"

"A month from what I'm gathering. I just took the test today after I've been sick for a week. I still have to go to doctors to get a checkup. I figured I would tell you now." I say running my hand threw my hair.

"Well I think we need to go to the doctors then. Do you want me to make an appointment?" He asks.

"I can, then I will give you the time and place if you would like to come. I would like to keep the baby if possible. I'm against abortion, and I would appreciate if you would help raise him or her, but I understand if you don't want to. I just wanted to give you that option." I shyly say.

"I would like that. I have to get going to a meeting, however ill give you my cell phone number and we can discuss the next steps."

"Thank you. Also I need to grab something for Holland Firm?" I ask while standing up from my seat.

"Holland Firm? You work for them?" He goes to grab something from inside his desk.

"No, my friend does and she asked I pick them up while I was here."

"Oh Okay. Thats fine, Here you go." He smiles handing me the passes.

"Thank you. Have a great night Mr. Miller." I say walking out the door.
