79 Call it a Truce for Now

The Major is stunned into silence, at least for a full second. "W-what!? What does that have to do with anything!?"

And she is right in that regards.

None of my questions are of importance, and I am merely using them to annoy or embarrass her. This is because I already know everything there is to know about her and those who are connected to her.

The Major – Lynda – was someone very important in the previous timeline, and her tragic fate caused morale to plummet, leading to a lot of deaths. As such, it could be said that her death had contributed to the final fate of the human race.

Not a complete extinction since I am still here. The last human from my version of Earth.

I answer her outbursts by raining lots of dirt and pebbles onto her at the bottom of the hole, inevitably causing her to scream out in frustration. To be honest, this is kind of fun, especially when the strongest impression I have of the Major is a cold unyielding person.

"What did I say, Major? I ask the question, and you answer the question. It is that simple, and yet you cannot follow it. I am beginning to wonder whether you truly earned your rank. Or maybe, your father has greased the wheel a little," I speak up, hitting all the right questions.

I know that the Major has probably worked very hard to get where she is right now, and anyone saying otherwise will earn her scorn, and what the usual saying goes? Hell has no fury than a woman scorned.

Well, I am not afraid of her scorn, and I continue to shovel dirt and pebble into the hole until the Major decided to reveal what she is wearing under her standard military issued uniform.

"It's a sport bra and boy shorts, okay? Now stop!"

I stop shovelling and wonder whether I should press the matter or not. I could, but I would be wasting more time shovelling than spending it on purifying the Health Potion. She is lucky that I currently have no intention of killing her.

"I guess I will have to take your words for it since I doubt you would simply show me it at my request, eh, Major?" I response, and I really wanted to see her expression then. "Next question, and same deal as before. Do you have a boyfriend?"

"What? No! Why would I have such a thing?" the Major answers hastily. "Can you stop asking all these stupid questions!?"

"What did I just say, Major?" I question and start shovelling dirt and pebble. I estimate that she should be covered up to her waist. If her leg wasn't broken in the fall, she might have climbed her way to the top of things. She might even have climbed out of the hole given time. "Also, don't tell me how to ask my question."

The Major does not response, and I check the hole to see what she is doing. As a result, I almost ate a bullet. Good thing I have used a mirror to check instead of my head. Or I would be died.

"Relax, Major. There is no need to get upset since I am the only person who can help you right now. I am going to drop you the same vial as before. The effect should be stronger, healing your injury in no time at all, so let's called truce for now," I tell the Major before dropping the Healing Potion down the hole for her to consume. "By the way, what kind of person you are looking for in a boyfriend?"
