9 Chapter 8 - Let Me Help

Fujimura Miyu chuckles when the man on the ground trembles. She stands up and heads towards the bets. The crowd is silent and continues to stare at the sweaty man on the ground. Miyu picks up the box and the bag of jewels and runs away. Miyu doesn't know that at that exact moment, Prince Ryota ordered soldiers to find her. Arata reveals himself once they're far away enough and grins.

"I'm proud of yourself, master! Now I know where you're gaining all that money from!"

Her family doesn't give her any money, wanting to save money and knowing that it'd be a waste on her. Miyu decided to earn money this way because she needed to buy extra food and cultivation pills to help her survive and deal with her daily needs. The people don't have powers but sometimes some Lord's abandon their bastard children they got from their flings or some people get a lucky trait and gain a power. It's more likely that it's a bastard child, but there are still some lucky people.

Miyu jumps from tree to tree before approaching her room. She hops onto the roof and slides down into the window. She leaves the money on her bed and undresses into her daily clothes. After hiding her hood and cloak away in a secret compartment she created in her closet, she takes up a floorboards beneath her desk next to the window and puts the coins in there. She puts the floorboard back on and readjusts it before she is satisfied that it looks like no one messed with it. She walks out of her room to head towards the kitchen for a quick bite with Arata on her shoulder invisible again. She only walks a few stops before she hears yelling in the courtyard. She walks quickly to the courtyard to investigate and she sees a man atop a horse wearing the royals colors on of red, purple, and black. He was yelling at Father telling him to send all the residents of the household outside. He says he's got everyone but the horseman doesn't believe him. Miyu grins before giving a look of worry as she rushes to her father's side.

"Father, what is the matter? Is there something wrong?"

Father Kenta looks at Miyu angrily before looking back up at the messenger. The messenger frowns, displeased at the fact that Father lied to him, but cleared his throat.

"By the order of Prince Ryota and Empress Kouki, we are to find the woman named 'Hood.' We are allowed to search the premises to find any evidence that the Hood is on this property."

Father frowns, "What do you mean, 'we?'"

The message clears his throat and gives out a whistle which alerted the soldiers in the forest to come forth on their horses and into the courtyard. Miyu knew the soldiers were there but she still had to show a look of shock. She noticed that her siblings were on the other side of her father and looked scared. Miyu smirked on the inside as she watches the rest of the soldiers fall into line behind the messenger. Father nods his head, letting the soldiers explore the area.

The soldiers disperse and head into different directions and the family of Fujimura and their servants stay in the courtyard to wait till the search is over. Miyu begins to get anxious when an hour has passed and not a single guard came back to report back. Father begins to grow impatient and finally asks, "What's taking so long?"

The messenger also looks confused, "I do not know."

Father left the messenger in the courtyard with long strides and his daughters, including Miyu, follow behind them. They see the guards surrounding Miyu's door and she froze. The guards were trying to get into the room and even tried to break the door down. The guards turned around and saw the family. One soldier approached then and asked, "Who's room is this?"

Miyu smiled and raised a hand, "Mine, let me help you open the door"

She walks to the door and opens it swiftly, "The door is quite old, it takes a little force to get it open sometimes."

The soldiers froze but didn't question her. They didn't, remembering that she's giftless, 'How could a giftless person be able to put a spell on their door with they don't even have a power?'

The soldiers quickly searched the room, expecting not to see anything, and got back out to say they found nothing. The messenger nods and looks at Father, "Thank you for your time."

A rough voice causes everyone to freeze, "Did you even try to search the room?"
