Chapter 73 - Cold Shoulder

Ryota quickly returned the unconscious step mother back to her room. He didn't treat to her wounds or took care of her or put her in her bed nicely. He just tossed her into the room and let to meet up with his wifey.

Ryota returned to Miyu's room, where Miyu and Arata were quietly chatting.

When Ryota entered through the window, Miyu glanced at him but didn't acknowledge him any further. Usually when Ryota arrived, she said a little greeting. Today, it was silence.

Arata felt the tense mood, so he got off the couch and went through the window to find a nice place to sleep to stay at for the remaining night.

Ryota sat next to Miyu slowly, trying to not make her even more mad. Why was she mad anyways? He didn't go against her word!

Ryota looked at her with a pouted look that could swoon many women, but Miyu ignored him.

Ryota tapped her lightly on the shoulder, "How are you? Are you feeling better?"

Miyu let out a soft grunt and ignored him once more, her head facing the wall away from him.

Ryota's pout became less faked. He's really sad now, who wouldn't be, when your own future wife gives you the cold shoulder?

Ryota sighed and decided to lay down on the bed. He took a strand of her long hair and started twirling it around his finger. He said deeply, "Do you know how worried I was about you?"

No reaction, sadly. Ryota thought that his slightly intimate actions would get something out of her.

Ryota rolled over so that he's facing her. back and continued to play with her hair, "When I saw them hitting you, I... I don't know. I would've probably done the worst thing possible to them..."

Ryota leaned more towards her so that his forehead rested slightly on her lower back.

He asked, "What do you think would've been the worst thing to do to them?"

Ryota didn't expect an answer back, but Miyu whispered something softly. It was inaudible to Ryota, so he asked nicely, "May you please repeat what you said?"

"Ling Chi, she whispered, "Or maybe boiling her alive. Or bugs, she absolutely hates being dirty. And bugs are the definition of that. One time, she forced me to kill a fly for her. She was so scared of it that she hopped onto the couch and started screaming at the top of her lungs."

Miyu snorted while remembering the memory, making Ryota's heart warm. So she's not that mad at him as he though. Maybe disappointed, but not really mad.

Ryota sighed against her back, and grinned when he felt her shiver from his hot breath, "Why are you mad?"

Miyu sighed as she turned her head to look him directly in the eyes, "I'm not that mad at you. I'm more mad at myself, I should've made more rules so that way I could keep you in check."

Ryota poked her as he listened, "Good that you didn't. I would've exploded from wanting to kill her."

Miyu gasped and turned to face him fully, "You killed her!"

Ryota chuckled as he got up just to squeeze her cheeks, "Of course not. I would leave her death to you."

Miyu relaxed a little and smiled, "Thank you."
