55 Chapter 51 - Heavens Above

Kasumi was surprised when Ryota asked her to sing. When he asked, she was sipping some tea, and when he asked she began choking on the water. She coughed hard and tears began to fall out of her eyes. She looked up at him and saw that he was serious, so she said, "Right now?"

Ryota shook his head, "Do you want me to loose my interest?"

Kasumi was startled by his bluntness, but she was perfectly fine with singing randomly out in the open. She loved praises and she always got some whenever she sang in public. The only reason she was surprised is because the prince barely takes any notice of anybody, even less their talents. This was a good opportunity for her as the future empress.

She sipped some of the tea, cleared her throat, then began to sang. It was an old song, a song her mother used to sing to her when she was little. She was out of town for the moment, roaming the island.

She sang sweetly and melodiously, like a beautiful songbird,

"The leaves are falling around us all,

Child, child, the night has come.

The sun is leaving us and blue sky is gone,

Child, child, the night has come.

We cannot stop the night from coming,

but we can try to enjoy it's presence.

Because it is better to be in the moonlight,

then in the dark, by yourself, all alone.

Appreciate the moonlight for what it gives,

appreciate the moonlight for the light it brings.

And always thank the moonlight when it turns dark,

for helping you come back home to your love."

When Kasumi was finished, she looked around at the shocked faces. The room was so silent you could hear a pin drop. The silence was broken when a young woman began to sip her tea and snack on her food, completely ignoring the performance. The attention that was on Kasumi was now shining onto her beautiful sister. The attention she earned with her singing talents was snatched away by her sister because she was EATING.

Kasumi was fuming inside, but she kept a calm exterior on the outside. If the prince wasn't here, she would've went up to her sister to slap her. But when she looked at the prince, his focus wasn't on her sister. It was on her. 'Yes,' she cried in her mind, 'Take that sister! This man is mine, not yours!'

Kasumi blushed, acting shy as she asked, "How was that?"

Ryota smiled and gave an honest answer, "It was good, you have a lot of potential."

Kasumi fanned her face and smiled, happy for the compliment, "Thank you, my prince."

Ryota then said, "Well, you have potential, but I have heard better."

This made Kasumi's stomach drop. She couldn't believe it! He was able to bring her sky high, and then drop her into the dirt so quickly. Kasumi was on a roller coaster, her feelings changing from up to down due to this complicated but handsome prince in front of her.

Kasumi frowned then asked, trying not to be suspicious, "Who? I would love to meet that person."

Ryota smiled and added ignorantly, like he didn't know that Kasumi hated her sister, "Can you believe it, your sister! You both must have some good musical skills to have such artistic children like the both of you."

Kasumi raised an eyebrow, "Which one?"

Ryota waved his hand at the woman at the table, "Well, it's Miyu! She has a splendid voice that sounds like the heavens above!"
