Chapter 48 - Rumors

Kasumi sighed and gave up, "Fine, I'll be polite, first prince. But in the future I'm allowed to be more casual, right?"

Ryota nodded and gave her a sweet smile that made her light up like a thousand stars, "Sure."

In another point of view, Ryota was anxious. He didn't want Miyu to hear her sister calling him names so casually. He doesn't want her mad at him and give him the silent treatment, or even the cold shoulder.

Ryota tried to calm his emotions while guiding Kasumi to the cafe. They sit down and order their food, they ordered daifuku with tea. The delicacies arrived at the table after some small talk. The service at the cafe was nicer and quicker, due to the fact that the heir of the empire is dining there. The manager didn't want to make the prince destroy his business, so he lowered the prices and made the employees there work quicker and harder.

Ryota snacked on some of the desserts while Kasumi just drank some tea. She didn't want to seem like a pig in front of the Friday prince, so she barely touched the food.

Ryota noticed this and asked politely, "Why aren't you eating? Do you not like the food? I will order something else if this doesn't please you."

Kasumi waved a hand of dismissal, "No, it's fine! I'm not that hungry. Enjoy yourself, first prince, you were the one who was hungry!"

Ryota shrugged and began to eat the rest of the foods, filling up his stomach. He washed down the sweetness with the bitter tea before saying, "How is school going for you?"

Kasumi was startled when he began to talk abruptly but happily answered, "I'm doing well, I've been acing my least lately, so I think I'll do well this year."

Ryota smiled, "I'm happy to hear that."

He cleared his throat before asking the important question, "Hey, I've been hearing rumors going around that people in the school hate me and want to get rid of me. I was wondering if you know anything about that?"

Kasumi almost dropped her tea cup. From doing well in school to murdering the prince in a second was very abrupt for her. She was shocked at the complete change in topic.
