3 Chapter 2 - Gifts

Fujimura Miyu was very confused, she was working on Hanae's homework when she felt a small presence. She grew more worried by the second, even though the presence already left. 'Was someone trying to kill me? But who? Or are they just spying in me? Does someone suspect me?'

Miyu decided to be more careful from now on, she will only practice or meditate whenever she is absolutely sure no one is around a d will order Arata to protect her.

Speaking of Arata, he is curled beside Miyu in a little ball, snoring and completely ignoring the presence. Miyu relaxed a bit, she trusts Arata if he believes the presence is safe.

Miyu continues to work on the homework. Today it's calculus, and Miyu isn't struggling at all. When Miyu grew up, it was difficult for her to hide that she was intelligent, because she didn't know how to get answers wrong. For example, she was solving 'what is x?' but she wouldn't know how to get the answer wrong on purpose without it looking like she was doing it on purpose. Now, Miyu is so used to it that she can make wrong answers without blinking an eye, and it's the same easiness when she's making correct answers.

Miyu breathed a sigh of relief as she stretches back in her chair, crossing her arms above her head. She glances back down at Arata and back out the window. Miyu gets up from her chair to open the window and look outside. 'There really isn't a presence anymore.'

She shuts the window to keep the cool air in and gently pats Arata on the head to wake him up. He twitches his tail and ruffles his fur before giving out a large yawn.

"What do you need master?"

Miyu grins, "It is what you wanted to do, practice."

Arata jumps and floats to her shoulder then rests there in the crook of her neck, "Let us go."

Miyu changes her clothes, she picks up one of the floorboards in the house to unravel large black clothes that are skinny and accentuate her hips. The clothes aren't for her to show off, but for her to exercise in.

Miyu and Arata head towards the training area, which consists of a large field that has been cleared out and a slightly smaller room that is empty except for a few dummies and weights in the corner. Miyu walks a path that isn't popular and that she made just for herself so she can move around the manor without much notice. Arata continues to sit on her shoulder, almost dozing off from the steady thump of Miyu's hunting boots.

They go to the room, if they're in the field there's a greater chance that someone will see them without them detecting the creeper. Miyu does a few stretches while Arata floats off into a corner and shuts his eyes. He seems asleep but soon he begins to speak.

"No one knows you're here, I'll keep checking while you work out, master. If you need my help, please tell me. I'd love to help."

Miyu smiles kindly, which seems to shine brighter than the sun, "Thank you, for now, may you continue to check the perimeter for anyone?"

Arata nods, "Yes, master."

Miyu nods back, and continued to stretch. She wheels some dummies into the center of the room and walks a few feet back. She closes her eyes in deep concentration, and lifts her hands so the palms are facing straight up. She opens her eyes, and various colors flash in her usual dark black eyes. Quickly, Miyu raises a tall are of fire going from one hand to the next. She plays with the fire, creating different pictures. She created a woman made of fire, a man, a pig, then a dragon which is flies towards the unsuspecting victim, Arata. He yelps before Miyu laughs and gets rid of the dragon.

"You must trust me, Arata, that I'll never hurt you, " Miyu says, as she continues her practices.

Miyu shortens her time with fire, because it was her best element, and goes to air. She uses it to clean up all the dust that is scattered on the floor into a large pile in the center. She opens the door and uses her gift again to get rid of the dust. With her little warmup done, she goes to the real practice. Miyu pulls in as much air as possible, then tries to lift herself. It's hard because it takes away a lot of strength and energy out of someone to lift themselves up, but it takes Miyu little effort. What's harder for her is her landing. Swiftly, Miyu skyrockets into the air and floats around the room. The speed she's at causes some hairs to fall out of her neatly tied bun, but she doesn't care. Miyu's more focused on what comes next. She tries to slow down as much as possible as she zooms to the ground. Miyu panics, 'Im not slow enough!' Miyu was right, she wasn't. She slams into the ground, legs first. She tries to squat down and propel herself backwards, but trips and rolls forwards. Arata's ear twitches as he begins to understand what's happening and rushes towards her master. Miyu was in a ball, cradling her leg.

"Master!" Arata cries as he makes it to her side. He sniffs her leg and gives a little pout.

"I'm fine, this happens all the time whenever I land. I just need to keep practicing. Now, Arata, please heal me."

Miyu always uses the words please and thank you, she doesn't like to acknowledge that she can control Arata. She doesn't like controlling people, she doesn't like that power. She would feel dirty if she ever controlled someone, that's why her mind control gift is very weak. Her senses for people's thoughts aren't though, she can read people's emotions and sometimes sentences when the person is really thinking about it.

Arata heals her, he's used to her injuring herself but that doesn't mean he likes it. After leaving his head on her leg for a bit and transferring his energy, Miyu starts to sit up but Arata warns her.

"Don't try anything dangerous for a few days, the bone is still fragile, " Arata warns.

"I promise, " Miyu answers, but there is always trouble, no matter who's already beaten down.
