1 Chapter One

Dawn opened her eyes to the loud blaring of the TV screen in pitch blackness.

Tom Kirk, the channel 30 news anchorman, looked like he had just been woken up from bed was shaking as he introduced the shocking news that was being broadcast-ed around the entire world.

"Breaking news, the president of the United States has just verified that the rumors of supernatural beings flooding Washington is in fact true. Beings that used to exist in only novels are actually in fact, very real..."

As Tom Kirk continued his long monologue to the people of Snowfall, CA, Dawn slowly pushed herself off the beaten down sofa she was laying on to stand in the middle of the room. Her brown eyes circled her childhood living room, recognizing the familiar cracks and faded wall paint she grew up with.

"Dawn!"

Rattled at the familiar voice calling her name, her eyes looked to see her mother emerging from the dark halls of their house. The rotten smell exuding from her mouth as she drunkenly staggered to the sofa Dawn was lying on before.

"Turn off that damn TV! Yammering all day about this and that! Who cares!"

And with those words, Dawn watched her drunk mother slumber off into dreamland.

Something seemed to lodge itself into Dawn's throat at the sight of her mother, her mom who had died 6 years ago. Cautiously stepping forward, Dawn touched the warm wrinkly skin of her mother and sank to her knees in shock.

She was back. Tears streamed down her face as she wept silently. She was back home, before all of it began.
