CHAPTER 4: New School

Skylee P.O.V

I groaned at the annoying buzz beneath my head. I had a habit of keeping my phone under my pillow while sleeping. My eyes were still closed when I moved my hand and get the phone. I didn't bother to open my eyes nor look at the caller's ID.

"Günaydın, canım." It was Mum, sounding all fresh.

"Günaydın..." I whispered, shifting in my position and lying over my back. I slowly opened my eyes and blinked to adjust my vision.

"First day at the new school. Get up and get ready or else you'll be late." She ordered like she was standing in front of me. That made me frown.

"Mum, tell me if you're going to babysit me like this when you've already created a four-person army for me? Seriously!" I was so annoyed that I immediately sat up.

"Then..." I continued, "what's the use of hiring them?"

"Gosh! Tamam Tamam. I'm going to cut the call anyway. I was just checking up on you. Now bye! Have a good day and take care of yourself." She said and cut the call.

I just stared at the blank screen of my phone. Like seriously! Parents could be so annoying sometimes. She still assumed me a little baby who couldn't live without her mother. I snorted angrily and trudged to the washroom for a morning shower.

Once I took a shower and did my morning routine. I wrapped a white fluffy bathrobe around my body and came out. I walked toward the mirror and started to dry my waist-length black hair.

There was a knock on the door after that Asli entered inside with a tray, balancing a curved, tulip-shaped, tea glass on a saucer, over it.

"Good Morning! Here's your tea, Miss." She said and placed the tray on the bed.

"Morning," I said as I picked the tea glass and exhaled the fresh fragrance of it. My favorite Caykur Rize Tea, which was specially imported from Rize, Turkey northern region. I took a sip and sighed at the way it relaxed me. Who needed coffee when you had tea to start a better day?

After drinking it, I changed into a pair of white jeans with a peach-pink top and slid in white sneakers. I tied my hair up in a high tail with a strand falling over the left side of my face. Then I applied baby pink gloss and eyeliner and I was ready to go.

When I came downstairs, Asli had already settled my breakfast on the table consisted of Paçanga böreği, a type of börek made with yufta, filled with cheese, pastirma, tomato, parsley and pepper, another dish containing cucumber, olives, strawberries, tomatoes, muhammara, orange juice, bread and jam, not to forgot the variety of cheese (beyaz peynir, kaşar, etc). I frowned looking at the table.

Did I look like a hippo who could eat all this in one go?

But looking at the well-prepared Turkish kahvaltı formed a smile over my lips. I considered myself a Turk by heart because I was born in Istanbul and I spent the first six years of my life there before moving to China. And then, that moving continued till now. I didn't even remember how many countries I had already traveled to.

"It's your Mom's order to maintain your diet," she informed me as she broke the chain of my thoughts. I sat down on the chair.

"You better should not listen to her too much," I said and sipped the orange juice.

"But..." She tried to say something when I shut her with a glare.

"You can't go anywhere without finishing your breakfast." She stated with determination.

"I might get late on my very first day," I raised my brows, munching an olive.

"Who cares." She shrugged as she put a piece of börek on my plate.

I laughed. Mum surely had arranged a well-trained army for me.

"Miss, let us know when you are done. Sir Xander is already here and he's waiting for you in the car." Number 2 informed me. I nodded.

"Mr. Caleb, she is like my sister and I don't want her personal data revealed at any cost. I hope you'll understand the security issues. Mr. Kingston will appreciate your cooperation." Brother Xander said to the respected principal, who looked like his wife had run away with her boyfriend - an angry man.

"Sure, as you already know about our school policy. We address students by their first names, not by their last ones. I will personally make sure to keep her surname confidential." He assured, passing us the same pissed-off expressions.

"I appreciate that." Brother nodded. On the other hand, I was playing candy crush on my phone while witnessing their so-called serious talk.

"Miss. Skylee, this is your schedule. Your first class is English and about 15 minutes later." Mr. Caleb said and handed me the schedule sheet.

"Sky, you may go now. I have some things to clear with Mr. Caleb." Brother looked at me with a smile.

"Okay," I said and picked up my bag. When I walked out of the principal office, I found a man in a khaki uniform outside his office.

"I'm here to lead you to your first class. Kindly follow me," he said and started to walk ahead. I followed him.

We passed through a long corridor where a few students looked at me while some were too busy in their gossiping, laughing, making out while some even had their heads dug in the books. I quickly glance around me as I continued to follow the man in khaki uniform.

He stopped near a turn which led the way to the locker area. There were lockers on both sides and a corridor in between going to the other end. The khaki uniform man told me about my locker and its combination.

After giving me a brief tour of my so-called new school, he left me in front of a wooden door which was my first classroom.

I stepped inside and a noisy atmosphere greeted me. For a second, there fell a little silence just to stare at me, and then, again noises began. I spotted an empty desk on the back and walked straight towards it.

Once I settled my things on the table, I pulled out my phone and engaged myself in the game. Two minutes later, someone knocked on the desk. I looked up only to find a girl smiling at me. I questioningly raised my brows at her.

"Can I sit here?" She asked very nicely.

"Okay." I said, giving her space to sit. Then I again started to play the game. She sat beside me and put her things on the table.

"So, you're new here." She asked or said, I didn't really understand but I hummed in response.

"Transfer student?" She again asked and I clenched my eyes.

Letting a deep breath out, I looked at her. She was a girl with blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, beautiful grey eyes, fair skin with attractive features, and she was wearing a black floral top with blue jeans. By her outfits and that smile, she seemed like a decent girl, but why she was so talkative and annoying?

"You don't talk much?" She again asked, peeking at me curiously.

"I despise to talk for no reason," I stated sternly. In response, she smiled and nodded her head, twice.

"But I have valid reasons," she said.

"And I'm least interested in knowing them," I said, looking back at my phone.

"Too bad. You should be aware of some things beforehand. Before it gets too late." She smirked with a wink.

I sighed and put my phone on the table, turning towards her to give her my full attention.

"Fine, tell me," I said so that she could leave me alone after telling me whatever she wanted to say.

"Don't get upset. It's for your own good. You're new here and knowing the Trio and Queen Bee, they will surely put a welcome prank on you. I just want to help."

"Help? I don't need anyone's help." I said but looking at her face, I added. "Go on."

The trio and Queen Bee as in prank. I slightly smirked as if I would not do anything for revenge. I had been to many schools before and I knew how to handle such students. It would be better if they won't mess with me.

"You're so rude." She glared at me with her grey orbs which felt quite familiar for some unknown reasons.

Rude? Did I ask her to sit with me and help me by telling me some valid things? I rolled my eyes at her.

"Thank you." I dismissed her and looked towards the door.

Do I come too early to the class? Why the teacher isn't here yet?

"I'm Rosalyn, by the way. Nice to meet you." She said and I looked back at her. She was smiling for no reason and her hand was extended towards me. I switched my eyes between her hand and her smiling face.

"Skylee." I shook her hand anyway.

"Are you always this rude to everyone or just with friends?" She asked, tilting her head.

"First, yes I am always this rude. Second, who is my friend?" I said, mimicking her action.

"Me."

"You? When did it happen?"

"Just now." She shrugged.

"I'm not your friend," I said sternly and glared at her. God! Why was she so into annoying me?

"Nope." She said, popping the 'p'. "We just became friends."

I let out an exhausted breath and looked at her. "I said you're not my friend. I don't make friends, do you get it?" I said angrily but she didn't listen to me as her eyes were glued to a particular direction, and a wide smile was lingering on her lips.

I creased my brows with confusion and followed her gaze only to make my heart skip several beats at a time.
