"Yes, that's why I return here to Indonesia," Nana's eyes glanced to the left, lowered a little.
It was a habit of hers, it meant she was reminiscing, remembering, recalling facts inside her brain for some memories about Mahendra. There was no doubt that the memories were of her shared childhood with the sole heir of the Wenceslas.
Nana was being serious. The movement of someone when they talk then glancing down and to their left usually meant that they were deep in thought to make an important decision. Because the one who asked her was the mother of a man she wanted.
"Forget about it," was what Gayatri advised.
A statement that was too shocking, like a hard slap on her cheek. How could the woman stated that, when finally, they were starting to get close? Not when their closeness could be denied. But then, Mahendra's mother broke something inside her.
"Huft," Nana breathed out her disbelief after she heard the words coming out of Gayatri's mouth.
