3 Mother's Love

Kei had killed the last goblin by cutting it into two using Severance.

He then shifted his gaze to the six captured women, which made them flinch collectively, but after getting a clearer picture of him and seeing that Kei was just a child, though a strong one at that they relaxed.

Kei was curious as to why they had such a reaction but didn't put much thought into it as he was more concerned on how to initiate a conversation.

"…"

He wanted to comfort the group of women, but he didn't know how to do so.

Kei is not really good when it comes to interacting with other people.

Moreover, if it comes down to helping a group of traumatized women get over their mental state.

Kei is a lone wolf, although it's not like he shunned being around other people.

In truth it's the other way around and Kei desires companionship, badly at that.

Unfortunately, his a socially awkward person always gets in the way.

He always fails to notice minor social expectations making other people who tried to get to know him give him the stinky eye wherever he fails to grasp the obvious hints and indications.

In addition, Kei lacks common sense, which just makes things worse.

This resulted in many complications that building up relationships had become very difficult for him back on Earth.

Even his friends back in the facility where they were confined had a hard time making him utter a few meaningful words and make him understand what's right and wrong.

"Um… it's fine… now… don't worry…"

He tried to reassure the group of women but failed to even stop himself from shuddering while speaking.

Kei couldn't help but bite his lip inwardly cursing his lack of communication skills.

Witnessing their young savior's plight the group of women couldn't help but smile, their mood lighting up a bit which confused Kei because he hadn't done anything yet.

Seeing his reaction a few of the group of women realized that their young savior is a bit naïve and clueless.

One woman despite her trembling and bloody legs tried to stand up.

Kei immediately leaned her hand.

She reached for his face which baffled him but sensing no ill intent coming from her and his instincts not giving off any alarm bells Kei let her be, and so she reached for his face and began cleaning off the blood stains on it.

Kei widened his eyes in surprise which made the middle age women smile grow bigger.

Kei reminded her of her long-lost son.

Her son should be the same age as Kei as of now if he was still alive.

Her son who died from a plague a long time ago.

The world of Genkai is cruel, sad and a pain filled world, and not all was due to monsters.

In fact, deaths from monsters are less compared to the deaths caused by other people (wars) and sickness (plague).

Moreover, the existence of evil gods just adds more chaos in the mix.

"Don't be hard on yourself, child."

Muttered by the middle age woman in a soft and gentle voice, holding back her tears from leaking out to not add to the worry of their young savior.

She knew that despite Kei's cold and stoic disposition, the young man before her was a kindhearted, worrywart and sensitive child.

She could also tell that Kei hadn't lived a simple life which for some reason hurt her as well.

They might have just met, but her motherly intuition tells her that the young boy hadn't experienced the love of a mother.

Unbeknownst to the middle age women, her mere words of encouragement out of concern and pity birth something deep within Kei's deep subconscious.

That something is so great that powerhouses of different worlds couldn't help but wonder how Kei obtained such overwhelming power.

Never did they expect that a few words of concern and pity from a grieving and concerned mother was the reason for the birth of such overwhelming power that held great potential.

If they've known they might as well spit all of their blood and just die on the spot cursing the unfairness of life.

[Notice. Extra Skill ~ Purification has been acquired.]

It can't be helped as they aren't the protagonists.

They're luck we're just bad for them to either be a mere stepping stone or a trifle ant which the protagonist unknowingly steps on.

Moving on she gave Kei a pat on the head, ruffling his disheveled bloody hair which Kei unconditionally enjoyed as he closed his eyes relishing the warmth of her caressed like that of a cat enjoying the comfort of its loving owner.

It was at this moment that out of nowhere memories of a long forgotten time surface on Kei's subconscious mind surprising him.

Broken images of an unknown long white haired woman whose face he couldn't get a clear picture.

The woman is giving him a bright and gentle smile and the young him seems to be enjoying the care and comfort of the said woman.

These blurry images kept popping out in his head making his heart hurt, his emotions bobble, that tears unconsciously escaped his closed eyes.

The woman giving him a head pat in the real-world saw this state of his and looked at him in worry.

The others who've just been watching from the side still hadn't gotten over what they've been put through and have also grown concern towards their savior seeing his state.

"What happened to him?"

One of the women asked.

"It seems we aren't the only ones in need of help."

Replied the middle age woman as she gently placed Kei on her lap, before adding.

"Our little savior here who wants to help us seems to also need someone else's help."

She uttered in a low and sad tone of voice to not wake up the now asleep Kei.

Hearing her reply, the one who asked, and the others who heard her words couldn't help but grow concern and pity for the young boy.

...
