CHAPTER 39

Not long ago, at the Keystone City Police Department...

Morillo walked in, holding a cup of coffee.

He entered the office of the Superhuman Crime Investigation Unit and found Chyre already there.

"You're here early today, Fred," Morillo greeted his friend and proceeded to organize the messy files and documents on the cabinet.

"How did things go at Iron Heights? Was the disinfection work completed?" Morillo asked casually while sorting the materials.

"Ten minutes ago, everything at that place was resolved. Thanks to Flash and that unidentified hero, the Mad Virus was contained," Chyre responded.

"Yeah, we were really lucky," Morillo sighed.

After a while, the landline on the desk suddenly rang.

*Ding-ling-ling*

Since Chyre had no pressing matters at hand, he picked up the phone.

After listening for a couple of sentences, he turned to Morillo and hinted, "Hey, it's your wife."

"Oh, I see. Let her know I'll call her back later." Morillo replied without even looking up.

Upon hearing this, Chyre's pupils contracted instantly.

He repeated Morillo's words to the person on the phone and hung up.

The office fell into silence.

After a long while...

"Where did my partner go?" Chyre suddenly spoke, his face darkened, and his eyes filled with anger.

Morillo paused for a moment, about to turn around.

"Stay there, don't move!" Chyre swiftly raised his hand, holding an old black M1911 pistol.

The safety catch was already engaged, and a bullet was chambered.

"For the past few days, you suddenly started calling me Fred, and your attitude became more arrogant. I sensed something off about you, but I didn't think much of it at first."

"It wasn't until Flash reminded me that the scar on your chin... it should be on the other side."

"But you know, I'm already old, and even if I see something every day, I might still remember it wrong. So I genuinely hoped that Flash was mistaken."

Chyre sighed.

"What shocked me was that you actually ignored your wife's phone call."

"I spent the whole day trying to piece together the truth. Although you have the exact same face, voice, and even blood type as my partner, you are not my partner!"

Chyre's hand moved to the trigger, slowly squeezing it. If "Morillo" made even the slightest wrong move, he would mercilessly shoot him.

"I'll ask you one last time, where is my partner?"

"Alright, alright, I come from a distant place, um... a mirror world corresponding to your real world."

"Morillo" raised his hands and began recounting his origin.

In that world, Fred Chyre was a madman who frequently killed for amusement. He relentlessly hunted "Morillo" until he managed to escape with the Mirror Master's help.

What he didn't expect was to have a doppelganger in this brand-new world, and he turned out to be a police officer.

Imagine how disappointed he was. In Central City, even in the whole country, He is the top bounty hunter, the best sniper. He couldn't tolerate his 'twin brother' wasting his life in the police station.

At that point, "Morillo" slowly turned around.

"Not only did he fail to realize his potential, but he also wasted too much time on his damn wife."

"I told you to stay there, don't move!"

Sensing the other person's actions, Chyre immediately shouted. Seeing that the person had no intention of stopping, Chyre decisively pulled the trigger.

*Bang!*

The gunshot rang out, but "Morillo" was still lively and active.

Suddenly, Mirror Master jumped out from behind Chyre, trapping his hands.

"Oh, by the way, you can call me... Plunder."

Plunder, who looked exactly like Morillo, approached Chyre and revealed his name.

"Where is my partner?" Chyre glared at him angrily and continued to ask.

"Don't worry, I'll take you to meet him right now."

Plunder smirked mysteriously, grabbed Chyre, and pushed him towards the glass door behind him...

Meanwhile...

Central City, The Flash-themed restaurant.

After eating and drinking to his heart's content, Yuri walked out and went to a nearby store to buy some more food. Afterwards, he got into his car and headed towards the outskirts of the city.

"Hmm? There seems to be fewer people on this road today."

On the highway leading outside the city, Yuri drove his old car continuously.

As he drove, Yuri suddenly noticed that there were hardly any vehicles on this road, and the few cars that were there were all heading outside the city, just like him.

This situation rarely occurred because with the existence of the Flash Museum, the tourism industry in Central City was always booming, with a constant stream of tourists entering and leaving the city every day.

But now, there wasn't even a single car entering Central City.

Yuri had a vague feeling that something was amiss.

He started to accelerate, wanting to get out of the city as quickly as possible.

Within two minutes, the clear sky suddenly began to darken.

Thick dark clouds gradually gathered in the sky above the city, as if brewing a massive storm.

All these signs made Yuri feel increasingly uneasy. He pressed down on the accelerator, trying to speed out of the city.

However, he was a step too slow.

When the old car was about two kilometers away from the exit of the city, a strange translucent pale blue force field suddenly rose from the ground and spread at a visible speed.

In just a few seconds, it formed a gigantic dome enveloping the entire Central City and Keystone City.

Although Yuri couldn't see it from his perspective, everything seemed normal when looking at Central City from the outside.

There was no dome, no dark clouds.

Yuri examined this massive translucent dome and it didn't seem to have a physical presence.

The dome was translucent, and Yuri could see what was outside of it.

He saw a car driving in from outside, but as soon as it entered the dome, the car turned around and went back.

Before Yuri could react, the cars in front of him that were also trying to leave the city reached the edge of the dome.

The result was the same.

As soon as they touched the dome, they seemed to completely forget that they were trying to leave the city and turned their cars around.

Looking through the car windows, Yuri noticed that these people had happy smiles on their faces, completely unlike those who encountered a dead end.

It was eerie, too eerie.

A chill ran down Yuri's spine as he realized.

He turned the car around and drove towards the center of the dark clouds.

He knew that the mastermind behind creating this dome was most likely right there.
