1 Dreaming H.B.

It was a nice sunny summer day, I was sitting in front of the window looking out into the mountain range. The sun was nice and warm on my skin. It wasn't too long til I dozed off. I open my eyes to see myself at my old house in the long grass with no handicaps on. I immediately knew where I was and what dream I was dreaming.

It was June 13, 2035 I was only 14 that was one of the last few months of freedom I had before I was forced to wear handicaps. I decided to just walk to the porch and sit in the chair and try to treasure the moment before- *I was woken up to the sound of cannon fire in my head.* I laid there in my chair for a few minutes trying to calm my nerves and relax. As I slowly regained my thoughts when hazel came up to me.

"Wow i heard that one from the kitchen, it sure was a dozy wasn't it," she states.

Sighing, George gets up and walks towards the bedroom, " I'm gonna rest for a little bit ok come and get me when dinner is ready."

"Oh ok have a good nap," she chirps.

"Uh hu," he mutters, entering the bedroom and lying on the bed slowly drifting off again. I woke again once more on the porch of my old childhood farm house, its creaking floorboards peeling paint were all to familiar. While sitting there I watched two children run by the porch and towards the driveway. It was my brother and I. We were both racing each other to see who was the best until the sun set. We would do these types of races all the time. Then all of the sudden in a loud bang followed by a bright flash it all was gone. I was now standing in a hospital room staring at hazel and my younger self. This was only days after we married and I had my handicap go off and make me swerve off road hitting a tree. After that i wasn't allowed to drive anymore and just stayed at home with hazel while each day the handicaps got worse and worse. Then I heard a voice calling my name, a familiarly childish voice.

"Dad come here see what i did," a voice from outside the hospital room.

I followed the voice and upon opening the door I was in a child's room, my son's room.

"See dad look at what i made," said the 7 year old holding up a little wind up crab made from parts that he found around the house.

Smiling, I knelt down to examine the crab saying "it's very interesting you made this."

But before i could hear an answer i was interrupted by the sound of two shotgun rounds being fired. Looking up I see my son staring at me with hallowed lifeless eyes saying.

"Why dad, why can't we be special" before collapsing in front of me in a pool of his own blood.

"Ghaaaa," George yells, jerking upright in his bed.

"You ok dear," Hazel asked from the other room.

"Y-yea," George stammers "hazel we need to talk."
