Unusual Change

Before they left the mansion, Li Xuan made sure to inform the patriarch about their concerns and managed to secure his promise to expedite the process. With her newfound authority over three houses, Li Xuan was finally able to initiate a large-scale operation.

Gathering the workers in the mansion's courtyard near the entrance, Li Xuan prepared to assign them their tasks. Li Ming was taken aback by the sight of approximately one hundred men standing in line. They exuded strength and wisdom, possessing knowledge and skills beyond ordinary workers.

Introducing Li Ming to the assembled workers, Li Xuan said, "This is Li Ming. He is in charge of this project and will be giving you your tasks. Who are the leaders here?"

Stepping forward, a muscular man named Li Gang, the leader of the Yellow Dragon House, introduced himself. He appeared to be in his early thirties, and the long blade hanging from his waist added to his intimidating presence. "We have a total of fifty warriors who will fulfill your orders," Li Gang declared.

Xu Leng, the leader of the Green Dragon House, raised his hand and said, "I am Xu Leng. I have brought twenty-five people, including myself."

The next person to step forward was Liu Bang, the leader of the Blue Dragon House. Though not as physically imposing as the others, his calm and focused demeanor suggested a sharp intellect. "I am Liu Bang," he stated.

Li Ming regarded the leaders with a serious expression and began explaining their objectives. "We need to construct a facility outside the town, which will serve as our base of operations."

Liu Bang, being the first to inquire, asked about the size of the facility. "We need to calculate the manpower and resources required for its construction."

Li Ming admitted, "I'm not entirely certain about the exact size yet. For now, we need a few buildings that can serve as dormitories for the workers, as well as a large structure for refining the oil. Given the nature of our work involving fire, wood may not be the best material. I will provide you with more details and blueprints as I develop them."

Liu Bang glanced at his colleagues, then turned back to Li Ming. "What about the workers? They will need to learn about the tasks and processes involved, won't they?"

Surprised by the question, Li Ming asked, "You already know about that?"

Liu Bang nodded, his expression serious. "We received some information from the patriarch. This will be a significant undertaking, and we are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead."

Li Xuan interjected, providing an answer to Liu Bang's question. "Indeed, the workers will need to be trained and educated. Liu Bang, you and the Blue Dragon House will be responsible for constructing the buildings. Xu Leng and the Green Dragon House will focus on learning the new tasks, as it requires significant labor. As for Li Gang and the Yellow Dragon House, you will be divided into two groups. One group will procure the necessary materials, while the other will ensure the safety of the workers."

Li Gang furrowed his brow, looking somewhat concerned. "Young Miss, it seems like you are excluding us from protecting you."

Li Xuan's expression grew serious as she met Li Gang's gaze. "Given the scale of this collaboration and the need for manpower, if you assist with the labor, we can progress more efficiently. Besides, you are aware of my capabilities."

Li Gang felt a sense of unease but recognized that Li Xuan had a plan in mind. "I understand, and I will fulfill your orders."

Li Ming, still perplexed by Li Gang's reaction, inquired with a serious tone, "Is there a potential danger involved in this operation?"

Li Xuan smiled gently, assuring him, "I will do my best to ensure your safety."

Unconvinced, Li Ming shook his head and decided to take precautions. He chose to wear a bulletproof vest and bring his rifle, remembering the earlier attack they had faced when inspecting the oil spot.

Despite Li Xuan's insistence that he should trust her, Li Ming remained adamant. On the journey, she persistently tried to convince him, but he disregarded her pleas and continued preparing his equipment. In the end, Li Ming asked her if she would continue with their plan.

Reluctantly, Li Xuan accepted the circumstances. The leaders of the three Dragon Houses didn't understand why she was acting differently towards Li Ming. While they acknowledged that Li Ming's attitude was justified, given the precarious situation, they also recognized that Li Xuan's behavior deviated from her usual demeanor, leaving them puzzled.

However, they had no choice but to follow Li Ming and Li Xuan outside the mansion. The patriarch had briefed them about the collaboration and emphasized the need to protect both Li Ming and Li Xuan.

To maintain the secrecy of the operation, the three leaders divided their groups into several smaller teams and instructed them to leave the city at intervals.

As Li Ming and Li Xuan boarded the carriage, an awkward silence enveloped them. Li Xuan appeared to be hiding something, while Li Ming's face remained cold, demanding an explanation.

"This is unlike you, Li Xuan," Li Ming spoke in a cold tone. "Don't you think I have the right to know what is happening?"

Li Xuan took a deep breath, her eyes filled with a mix of frustration and resignation. She had been keeping something from Li Ming, and now the time had come to reveal it. The atmosphere in the carriage grew tense as they embarked on this difficult conversation.

"I apologize for not telling you earlier, Li Ming," Li Xuan began, her voice tinged with regret. "There are matters that I cannot easily disclose, even to you."
