Sympathy

"My Lord"

The King's attention was drawn to his respected soldier, still dressed from head to toe in kevlar, with scrapes and dents from the long days of battle. He'd just returned back from his adventure to the North, the land of Green.

"Tyri was already destroyed before we got there. The people were all eaten...we did a lot to clear out the infestation of those disgusting ghouls."

A girl was brought forward, bruised and had blood stains all over her ripped clothing. She looked listless and skeletal. Her face bore zero emotions with her unfocused eyes locked blankly. Her aura was questioning. The king had a lot to ask.

What he could deduce was that she was a sole survivor, and the last of her kind. She was also a Royalty. The king was familiar with the mark on her arm, the same her father had.

"We managed to find this young girl in a cave. What should we do to her my lord? We didn't want to kill her unless we had your permission to do so..."

When the man mentioned her death the girl wasn't moved. What did she fear more than death? Maybe she'd seen a lot for her to be that traumatized. Does she think it would be better to die in the hands of man rather than demons?

The king thought for a second - She could make a prize possession as his wife. Or would it be better to just kill her and have his men feed her to the dogs?

It was quite unfortunate for the tyrian race to end with the massacre of majority of the people right before the princess's eyes. Would it be right to put her to rest and send her to the heavens, her people's new dwelling place? That means she'd be considered lucky to have survived just to be brought to a different land and be killed?

"How old is she?"

"We have no idea my lord but she still looks like someone in her teens"

The king laid back on his chair "Very well, seven years from now. Bring her back here. Take her to a foster home and make sure they take care of her properly. There's no contrast among her and the dead with the current situation of her body."

The armored man on his knee got up then bowed "As you wish my lord" the girl got a small glimpse of the man with the mask before she was led out and if he wasn't mistaken her lips moved, but he couldn't make out what she said.
