Chapter 1The bard's successor

A young boy of nine sniffed as tears fell from his eyes. He was alone, so alone. He never belonged anywhere. He was just alone. A poor little boy, lost in the woods, waiting for what kills him first.

'You're a cursed child!'

'You shouldn't have been born!'

'You're nothing but a defected clone! A defect that should have been destroyed a long time ago!'

The voices, the stares. He could still feel them. Forcing himself to drag his little frame, the boy looked at the city's Giant tree. He has no place in this world. He was just a replacement for his deceased older brother. The only one who accepted him. His best friend, his hero, dead because of his weakness.

'Listen... I want you to have my name. You are my little brother and I don't care what anyone thinks.' His brother said, a boy older than him.

"I... I want to live!" The boy shouted as he looked a the tree, falling to his knees. "I want to be free! I don't... I don't want to be like this anymore!" Tears fell from his eyes like waterfalls. He hated it! He just wanted it all to end.

"Oh my?" A figure said from atop the tree. He was dressed in green and white, having a youthful face. Blue eyes stared at the boy as he looked down at his lyre.

The boy reminded him of someone else. His dear friend.

"So you want to be free?" He said as he looked at the boy with a kind smile. It has been a long time since he gained his Gnosis and even arrived in this world. With her collecting them and this boy wanting the strength to be free. Yes, yes! A way for him to help others and secure his treasure. Maybe for a way to free his friend Dvalin.

Smiling at his plan, the bard gently glided down towards the ground. The power of Anemo, freedom, and wind, condensed in front of him in a beautiful queen piece, glowing a bit duller than it used to like it was drained of its power

Landing on the ground, the bard smiled as he used the power of winds and song to calm the boy and make him sleep. Gently covering him with the wind to soothe and protect, the bard pressed the queen piece on his chest.

"May the wind guide you, little one." The bard said with a smile as he disappeared, leaving behind a handheld harp and a book for the boy and a letter containing the will of a thousand winds.

"Rex!" A young man with long blonde hair shouted as he saw the boy, his green eyes looking at the boy in relief as he picked him up.

"It's okay, Great-grandpa is here." The man said as he gently carried the boy on his arms while bringing the lyre, book, and letter with him, not caring for anything else but the safety of the boy that was his great grandson.

In a world of cybernetic upgrades, Leo takes a different path—mastering external gear and stacking skills like Sword Mastery LV10, Physique LV10, and Dodge LV10. With sheer skill and cutting-edge tech, he outclasses even the most deranged Cyberpsychos. ------------- System, Cyberpunk 2077 game and Edgerunner, Male MC, The Mc hasn't played the game-so doesn't know the plot. The System is similar to "Gamer" genera and is more focused on Perks. ------------------------------------------- Since I've noticed some misunderstanding on the reasons behind Leo's strength, let me clarify: The system used in this novel is comparable to that of the gamer genre. Leo is a pure human who doesn't rely on cyberwar; instead, his power derives from System-driven advancement, primarily from Perks and gradually leveling up skills. Leo's growth is entirely internal, in opposed to the majority of Cyberpunk 2077 characters who gain strength through implants. As part of the System, his body changes, and when he reaches specific milestones, he unlocks special Perks—a very common feature in Gamer-style settings. Also, Leo creates weapons, armor, and gadgets that are so sophisticated that even elite corpos struggle to match them, further enhancing his skills. I hope that clarifies things for anyone who was confused, didn't notice the "Gamer" tag, or simply doesn't understand how that genre operates. Also while it is a Gamer-eks system it really just gives some skills and perks. Nothing like the actual Gamer system. Does are to OP and often boring in my opinion.
