Of All People, Why Me?

Most people hopes to die in peace. Free from agony and pain. Free from their miserable lives. But almost no one wants to die alone.

"Why didn't you call me immediately?" a frantic voice of a lady echoed in my ears. It was as if they're an apparition or something. "Hurry and call the doctor! Go!"

'Where am I?'

I felt a cold hand pressed against my forehead.

'Who is this?'

"You'll be fine, my dear. Just hold on a little bit more."

Her trembling voice is unfamiliar. She's not my mother. That's impossible. My mother decided to live in the province since my little sister's health declined. It's not my father either because this person's voice is gentle and comforting unlike his gruff voice that's always laced with sarcasm.

"Marguerite can make it through the night," an old man said with a firm, yet slightly shaky voice. "Like she always do."

'Who are they?'

The questions in my mind were answered one by one, but there are some information that I couldn't seem to find. Even if I do everything I can.

But one thing's clear.
