24 Where Have You Been?

24: Where Have You Been?

Hours Later...

The glasses kept being filled. Bottles of alcohol getting placed aside after getting emptied. The night is still young yet Rachel and Chance are already drunk to their wits. They are dancing on the common dancefloor below and Lara chose to stay in their VIP room, watching over them from above.

She brought the glass of cosmos to her lips. She can feel the sting hitting the back of her throat but she still not drunk. No matter how many glasses she takes, she's still sober, like what she's drinking was all water, not alcohol.

Truthfully speaking, she already took the same amount of alcohol Rachel and Chance took since they forced her to drink with them every time. Unfortunately, her vampiric abilities were stopping the alcohol from taking effect due to the ultra-fast healing abilities she was born with. Her body heals itself automatically and she had no control over it, resulting in her wounds healing at an extremely abnormal rate compared to her father's kind. The only way they can out-heal her was to drink a lot of fresh human blood to accelerate their healing. Without it, they heal a bit slower but still healing nonetheless.

Lara can still feel pain though. But it disappears after a moment. Her healing abilities is one of the gifts she was born with, a gift she realized she had after she learned of her origins. The purebloods ability to use telekinesis was stronger still though, especially her father.

Sebastien Dragomir was so powerful that he could kill a vampire without touching him, his powers were on a different level entirely. His telekinesis was on a higher form where only he- the only one in history was able to perform after their ancestors disappeared and left them.

Lara finished her drink before putting the glass down on the table. She moved to get her phone in her purse and texted Chance and Rachel that she'll be in the bathroom if they need her. The ladies room was located downstairs so she had to go out to relieve herself.

"Excuse me..."

She went past the people blocking her way in the narrow hallway of the second floor.

"Coming through."

After some bumps and difficulty, Lara finally arrived at her destination. And upon arrival, she noticed a line of ladies waiting for their turn by the door.

Lara sighed and forced her bladder to hold it in for a while. She entertained herself by watching the people around her dance, drink and getting wasted. Suddenly, a thin pale figure crossing the sea of dancing people caught her attention. It was a sickly pale man with dark circles under his eyes making his way to a person, a woman who had her back to him and talking to her group of friends.

Her instincts alerted her with the feeling there was something wrong with the thin man but she couldn't tell what it was since her powers are being suppressed by her necklace. That's why she studied his movements instead and noticed that he seemed to be enduring something- like he was experiencing some internal pain.

The thin sickly man was also panting, and dragging his one feet on the floor, limping like an undead zombie in the movies. Lara raised her nose in the air and tried to smell his scent from where she stood. He didn't smell like an undead. He didn't have the stench of rotten flesh and blood on his. He's just sick, his body thin as a twig, his complexion alarmingly pale, and his feet limping.

In fact, Lara already encountered some undead summons during her early years of training. And Agatha, her weird-ass teacher, had a habit of summoning undead zombies and making her fight them in a fighting ring. In short, Lara knew what zombies really smell like and he wasn't dead, he doesn't look much alive either. Even the people he went past turned and looked at him strangely, so it wasn't Lara who was the only one who felt weird about him as well.

Another thing that gave him away from being weird is his outfit. He was only wearing a pair of loose hanging jeans and a white v-neck cotton shirt topped by a black leather jacket. Now she's wondering how the bouncers still let him in in that outfit.

Continuing with her observation, the pale man stopped behind the woman and raised his strange twitchy hand to tap her on the shoulder to get her attention. With that, the woman turned around and Lara saw her face. She looked young, and she looked surprised upon seeing the man, indicating that she indeed knew him personally.

After exchanging a few words with the thin man, the woman dragged him by the arm so that they can talk privately. Her friends already took interest in him and she still wanted to talk so he pulled her away after excusing herself from her peers.

When the woman and the thin man disappeared from her sight, that was the last thing she saw when she felt someone tapping her back.

"You're next." said the woman who was the first one before her.

Reluctantly, Lara said her thanks and searched her eyes for the thin man and the woman hoping to see them again. But they were gone.

Lara shook her head. Deciding to forget them. Their matters don't concern her anyway.

She will let go of what she saw. There are more pressing matters to take care of, like her bladder that's about to burst. So, not thinking twice about what she's going to do, Lara went to the ladies room, pushing the image of the thin man behind her mind.

When Lara came back to their VIP room, Chance and Rachel were already back and taking a break on the couch.

"Oh, there she is." Rachel said, seeing that Lara was back. "Where have you been?"

"I just went to the ladies room, you didn't read my text?"

Rachel blinked. Her mind still not recovered from all that dancing. "Huh." Why didn't she think about that?
