14 Imperial Towers

14: Imperial Towers

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Lara couldn't stop herself from tapping her shoes on the hard steel floor. She was inside an elevator and seconds from now she was going to confront Noah about what happened. And she was nervous, nervous as hell! Why you may ask? Well, first things first, what was she going to say to him? When he opens the door, he'll see her there and she can't approach him so casually like; 'Hi, sorry for barging in. We need to talk. Can I come in?'

It sounds so stalker-y like and she doesn't want that. Noah doesn't know she's coming. It's obvious he'll be confused, seeing her outside his house he'll think she's like a controlling girlfriend or something.

Anyway, the last time she saw each Noah, they kissed. After that, he suddenly disappeared on her the moment she woke up. They should have talked it out to clear the air but he was gone. And as a woman who faces things head on, she was doing the first move. She didn't want the kiss to end like it was nothing.

She truly wants to clear things up and to do that they had to talk. Like really talk. Or else work for her will become very awkward tomorrow.

"Okay, deep breaths…"

She tried to calm herself down but nothing was working. She was worried. Also, what the heck was she going to say to him? Her first lines haven't been planned out yet and she's starting to regret riding the elevator before planning her first move. She's not going to do the 'Hi, sorry for barging in.' thingy coz it sounded like a stalker inside her head so it's a big no-no there.

How about… "Hey boss! I'm here because I wanted to know why you kissed me." Ugh! Wrong! Lara smacked herself. She hasn't faced the man yet but she was already about to break down from all the anxiety she was feeling.

The numbers continued to climb to the 50th floor- Noah's floor and it seems that his condo was a fancy penthouse. No surprise there. All the units in the Imperial Towers were too expensive for an office worker like her. Even quoting the advertisement for the towers, 'In Imperial Towers, everything is top of the line.'

Lara was a bit concerned with the security detail of the building though since no one questioned who she was after she hand over her ID to the front desk. The receptionist looked quite pale after hearing her name, like she was afraid of her and what she can do to her. Also, no one attempted to stop her, not once. Instead the staff guided her to the elevators with so much enthusiasm that the receptionist was the one who pressed the floor for her. All she did was stand there and feel uncomfortable with the attention they were giving her.

Weird.

The elevator came to a halt. Ting!

"Okay, show time."

The doors opened and what followed made Lara gape because what welcomed her was an immaculate looking hallway with walls painted white and the tiles spotless clean that it felt like she just arrived in heaven. Lara thought she still needs to face a closed door to her face but she didn't expect that the elevator would actually bring her straight into his house directly.

No doors.

Now then the white hall led her to a huge modernized living room next. The interior design was just like his office at SI. Minimalistic, with little furniture and stuff. Only the necessary things were there like the sala set, the TV and the home stereo speakers. There's also this multipurpose shelf she's seen from furniture shows before that can be folded and unfolded depends if the owner wants to use it back as a shelf or a working table.

Well, looking around, this was his home alright. His taste for interior design was obviously focused on function only. It's evident that Noah likes to keep things simple, especially with his working office or his home.

It appears that no one was home, the whole condominium was silent.

"Strange…"

Before coming up, Lara made sure to ask the front desk if Noah was up and they said that he was. Then again, why is there no one home?

Suddenly, a loud crash from upstairs alerted Lara into action. Was that him?

"Sir Noah?"

No reply…

Lara directly went up the stairs to check.

When she arrived, there was only one door in the hallway and the door appeared to be ajar so she went inside without asking permission.

The loud crash must be from there so she had to check.

"Ugh…" someone groaned. Stepping further inside, Lara saw Noah curled up on the floor.

His face looked deathly pale, his shirt sweaty and was rolling over in pain.

"Sir Noah!"

Lara came to his side straightaway to check his body. There was no blood, no visible injuries or anything. The pain must be coming from the inside.

"Hang in there, sir!" Lara scrambled for her phone and dialed 911 without delay. She had to call for an ambulance given that she doesn't know any healing magic. She also doesn't know what's wrong with him and how to help him.

There's only one thing she knows and that's her blood. She could help him with his pain by letting him drink her blood but she doesn't know if it'll badly affect him afterwards since she doesn't know yet if Noah was what she thinks he is.

A werewolf.

Basically, vampire blood has healing effects once ingested by a human or their own kind. Sadly, with werewolves, she doesn't know what'll happen. She hasn't met a werewolf before. She only heard about them from her father's bedtime stories and the books she and Cedric used to read when they were younger and curious.

The royal library has great many books about different kinds of knowledge and information, old or new. But only a little was there about werewolf physiology and their history.

"911. What's your emergency?"

"Hi, can you send an ambulance? It's really urgent. My boss, he's in pain-"

"Okay, ma'am, please calm down and tell us your location first so we can send the ambulance your way?"

"Right, sorry. It's-" Before Lara could give the whole address, someone hauled her up by the waist.
