There is a lot to dislike about the novel's usage of English and grammar. Most of it can be forgiven and worked through, but the most infuriating is the usage of single instead of double quotes for speech. It makes speech seem disjoint and is hard to read. Other than that, there is a lot of misused words and poor grammar. Ignoring the writing quality, there is a lot to like about the story. There is a compelling world behind the story that peaks out from various parts. It's enough to make me read through the quality to find the exciting parts. Other things to critique are the somewhat flat characterization. This isn't always the case, but certain parts could do better. Finally, as a sci-fi story, it fails in a lot of ways. There are significant inconsistencies with physical reality, which I would ignore in a different genre, but I feel they need to be addressed in this genre specifically.
