7 CHAPTER 7

I’m currently in Olivia’s waiting room waiting to get my checkup. After so many days of me pushing back my appointment I finally decided to go for the checkup. She finally came to get me and we walk to her office in silence. I help myself to a seat and she stares at me in a weird way.

She goes right into the check up telling me they have to run some tests on my so they would be needing my blood and urine samples. I do the needful and I’m back in her office for a chat. I have actually missed my friend.

“So how have you been uhn?”, she asked and I noticed she’s holding something back. I tell her about how I’m just getting bored day by day doing nothing at home. She keeps on giving me a look of pity as I tell her this.

“okay what is it? Why do you keep looking at me that way?”, I ask out of frustration. She sighs and goes silent for sometime. “You know I was never with you on staying at home just because you had kids. I knew this would happen. I knew Ethan was going to make you resign fully from your work just so he would be the head of the house”. she says with an irritated voice putting head of the house in air quotes.

“Okay to be honest, I made that decision because I wanted to not because of Ethan just so you know. And I’m still not working till now because I was catching up on some stuff.” okay what I just said was true but to an extent. What she’s saying is actually true and it hurts me because I know this was what he was aiming for. He was never a fan of me working but my decision to stop working for sometime was my own decision and I needed her to know this so she would stop blaming Ethan.

Her look changes because she knows me too much to know I was not saying the absolute truth. She didn’t push the topic which relieved me because I was not here to talk about my annoying husband. We talked for sometime about her daughter who I’m just knowing started schooling already. Olivia is not married yet which was how she decided to live her life which was empowering on her part. She decided to be artificially inseminated because she didn’t have the time to look for a husband or deal with marriage issues.

I totally supported her decision though but I don’t envy it no matter what. It was finally time for me to leave because she had to look at her patients before her shift was over. She gave me a list of drugs to help me with my itchy dry cough and sleepless nights. She also promised to call me ,ater about the results of my tests.

It was just nice to see my friend after a long time. I picked up Mia and Noah from school on my way home and I took them on a little outing and we enjoyed our time out.
