5 Chapter 5: Our first moment

I feel a bit anxious right now if I'm being truly honest. Sitting next to the most handsome prince in the country is a dream come true for any girl and more so for a princess. I'm hoping it stays like this, not because I actually like the prince, although he does have a strong yet soothing accent and good charms as well as a comical character and cool demeanour. I just wish there is someone like him to be there to listen to my worries as a friend rather than a lover.

Now you're asking me how come I've gone from being in the dining hall with everyone else to sitting next to my future husband. Well, let's go back to when Prince Laisen took a seat next to his Mother.

My eyes return to Prince Laisen's face. Now that he's not looking at me, I am able to observe him for a while.

He has a very good posture and his clothes suit him perfectly. His navy blue hair is styled plainly to the side and his face bears a strong jawline fit for any King. The eyes are a cool dark blue and hold a meaningful, stern yet subtle look and his skin radiates a positive glow of light.

Any Princess would be falling head over heels for a guy like him but I won't succumb to his charms since they mean nothing to me. I believe personality is inferior to good looks.

One of the Princes goes over to talk to him and I notice Prince Laisen has a small mark on his left wrist when he raises his arm to fix his hair.

How peculiar. Marks as bold as that on Prince Laisen's wrist are very unusual indeed. They wouldn't appear in a visible place over time. The best explanation is that he had the mark since his birth.

"Lilian...Lilian...Anyone there?" I hear someone utter quietly.

I shoot back into reality, away from my curious state of mind, and discover Prince Laisen watching me with a friendly grin.

Just to be sure, I look to my left and right side to make sure he was talking to me however, since he indicated my name, I guess he was trying to get my attention.

"Do you need something?" I inquire.

"Actually, yes." He turns his head to his Mother. On their short conversation Queen Raida takes a glance at me and nods to her son.

When finished, Prince Laisen stands up from his seat and starts to circle round the table to my side. He approaches me and leans forward to my ear.

"Follow me." He whispers softly whilst taking a cautious hold of my arm.

I quickly look over at my parents and see Father is still busy talking. My Mother, on the other hand, has seen my gaze. She nods and swishes her hand away from her to indicate that I am able to go.

Standing up slowly, I push my chair in and follow Prince Laisen to where he wants me to go.

We leave the dining hall and go through a hallway which has many portraits hung up on either side. Then, we move round a corner and out of the door leading to the castle's back yard which is more of a field. Prince Laisen takes me past sculpted trees and a large water fountain to a place just in the middle of an empty area of the back yard. There, he sits me down and he does so as well.

Now, we're to the part of us sitting together like a couple of shy birds.

"You're beautiful." He whispers as he looks at me with his deep blue eyes.

I drop my eyes down to my hands and fiddle with them. Never has a guy ever said that to me in my life and I don't know how to feel about it. My mind is saying that it's nothing to fret about but my heart is saying something else.

"Thank you." I say, quietly.

"You know. When I heard from my Mother that I will be marrying a princess from another Kingdom, I truly felt like the luckiest Prince. It's mostly of the fact that she said that I'd be caring after the most beautiful princess in the country."

My face reddens with heat.

"I'm not really as pretty as those other princesses especially Princess Nallita."

"You say that but I know what I think and I'm staying by it. So you better believe in your beauty. Mother wasn't saying that you're the most beautiful Princess for nothing. She really meant it and I believed her for every bit. She's not a Queen to be spreading lies. She only tells the truth." Prince Laisen tells me.

This statement makes me grin with delight. Having someone else than your parents praise you feels special.

I raise my head and see Prince Laisen staring into my eyes. It's almost hypnotising me as if I were a snake and he was a snake charmer.

No matter what I think or do, I can't seem to look away from him he's just too...

I feel his lips land on mine slowly and gracefully. Feeling enchanted, I return the kiss and stay in the position for some time.

"Prince Laisen. I-I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but you are needed back at the Town Square." A servant informs him.

Pulling away Prince Laisen replies with: "Thank you for telling me, Lucas. I'll go as soon as I can."

The servant nods and heads back inside to finish his duties.

Prince Laisen looks back at me and sighs.

"I'm sorry our moment got interrupted but I look forward to when I do see you again." With that statement, he gives me one last kiss and walks away to the castle.

I'm left all alone and speechless. I have too many thoughts running through my head but one thing is for sure, I'm getting some sort of feelings for Prince Laisen.
