4 Chapter 4: Dinner Meeting

"Queen Camile, King Armus and Princess Lilian, it's a pleasure to see you again." Queen Raida greets us with her sweet voice. I hadn't remembered how Queen Raida's voice sounds until today. It has been some time since I came to Kingdom Lupita.

"Queen Raida. It's great that you were able to invite us. It's a good break for us away from the quiet side of live." Mother chuckles.

"Well, we do need a bit of a breather sometimes." Queen Raida smiles.

"Anyway, do come in. I'll tell the chefs to continue making the preparations for the dinner and contact Laisen to return from his little walkabout."

We enter the palace and instantly, I can feel the delicious smell of rosemary, thyme and oregano in the air. However, the smell didn't come near to being as magnificent as the view in front of me. The hallway could probably include a large giant like in the tales of Jack and the Beanstalk.

"Wow." I unespectantly say out loud.

"It really is 'wow'." King Randal chuckles.

"We made a few changes since the last time you've been here." Queen Raida tells us.

"The floors have been polished thoroughly, the walls plastered with gorgous wallpaper and the ceiling, well, as you can see, has a new addition."

All of us tilt our heads backwards to the ceiling to find a chandeleir so bewitching that it could blind our eyes dry in seconds.

Suddenly, the doors to our right smash open. A servant stands in the doorway.

"I'm sorry to bother you Queen Raida but the dinner table has beem prepared as of your instructions." He pants, as if he cleared the table just last minute.

"Thank you Jonas. You may go now. Anyway, we should head to the dining hallway before the guest come."

"There are more people?" I blurt out.

"Yes, my dear. Some of them are going to be very imprortant after you get married but need not worry, you've still got a bit of time before the wedding so enjoy yourself, alright?"

I nod at her angelic voice with a slightly gaped mouth.

Queen Raida smiles and turns royaly to the direction of the doors the servant came through.

***

It's been five hours already since I've been here but I'm too bored to even eavesdrop on nearby conversations.

Peeking to my left, I witness my Father speaking with a prince of another Kingdom than ours and Lupita and just a few seats away, Mother is listening attentively to a young princess' tale of adventure.

"Everyone, please quieten down." Queen Raida speaks.

The subtle noise of voices starts to vanish and all there's left is the eerie silence of patient hearts.

"Firstly, I would like to thank you again for being able to attend this dinner meeting. Secondly, next month, the Kingdom of Lupita will host an event down in the Town Square which is there to bring people together and bring a time of joy. Finally, there are some exciting news to be annonced but I won't spill it out, instead I will give Queen Camile and King Armus the chance to do that." Queen Raida nods at my parents before sitting down.

"I, Queen Camile and my husband, King Armus, have news that will bring joy to everyone who's here." Mother starts.

"Our precious daughter, Princess Lilian, is almost of that time in her life where she could be who she wants to and live her life out independantly." Father continues.

"However, she will not have to live her next remaining years alone as she'll have someone there at her side." Mother adds.

"That's is why on August 29th this year, Princess Lilian Jursila and Prince Laisen Mandalaiv are to be wed in the Kingdom of Belzar at noon." Father finishes.

Sounds of clapping and gentle cheering fill the dining hall.

"This is an excellent opportunity to tget the Kingdom of Lupita and the Kingdom of Freingar together, to form a stronger bond, since the children will need the support. I just hope for the happiness and goodwill for both of them. Cheers!" King Randal raises a glass of the finest wine.

Every royal does the same except the underage ones, where they just raise their jiuce or water in triumph.

Smiling happily, I wave my head to the left to see everyone's beaming faces but instead, my attention wanders to the person slipping into the dining hall.

Queen Raida, seeing my distracted gaze, looks into the direction I am gazing at and notices the person.

"Ah. There you are. I was wondering if you were going to show yourself at all."

The person, who looks more like a Prince, reaches Queen Raida quickly.

"I'm sorry. I had a couple of duties to take care of in the Town Square but I'm back now." He says but then moves his eyes to my own.

I drop my gaze to the table in front of me, hoping that he wouldn't say anything to me.

"Well, do have a seat, Laisen, and try to fit in. You're already late by a whole one hour and thirty eight minutes."
