1 Chapter 1: The News

I've always lived a simple little life. Always having to complete duties alone and binge watch shows all by myself. I guess I am not a great person to hang around even if I am a princess of all things. There's no way I will be able to find that special someone everyone is talking about when I'm not socially connected.

It's not my fault. My kingdom, Freingar, is located twenty miles from the nearest kingdom and it takes a minimum forty five minutes to reach the local village. How d you expect me to be an extrovert when I can't swing by someone every five minutes and say a faint hello? Travelling is difficult to somewhere worthy if you're someone who has travel sickness and for me that's the problem. I can't get near a vehicle without feeling dizzy. Welcome to my royal life where everything is boring as heck.

I'm currently in my room, cleaning my wardrobe out for the fifth time this week. It's getting harder to stay positive these days when I have repetitive tasks to complete that give me literal nightmares. After cleaning, I will probably go read another book in the library that I've read countless of times before.

Sighing, I hang the last designed dress I have and close my wardrobe doors. Turning around, I start to walk over to my desk but a noise comes from my door which makes me jump with surprise.

"Lilian dear. Are you there?" A soothing sound of my mother emits from the other side of my bedroom door.

"Yes mother. Did you need something?"

"Yes, I need to, your father and I need to talk to you downstairs."

"Did I do something wrong?" My heart skips a beat. My parents don't usually call me over unless I've made a mistake or have made them mad for some reason.

"Of course not. We just need to tell you something." My mother says in a reassuring voice.

I follow my mother down the luxurious stairs to the front hall and around the corner to the living room then straight past the dining room and to the balcony at the back of the castle.

My mother opens the door slowly and I am able to witness my father, sitting peacefully with his eyes closed, thinking quietly to himself.

"Dreidus dear. Lilian is here." My mother tells father.

"Ah Lilian." Father starts, opening his eyes to look at me.

"Come here. Me and your mother have some news for you."

I walk over to him and look into his vivid green eyes, waiting to hear whatever he and mother have to say.

"You see...before you were even born, your mother and I made an agreement to make sure you had someone to look after you when you reached your 18th birthday." Father says.

"We didn't want to see you living alone and...depressed when there are many things to do and see in the world that we could not offer to you." Mother adds.

"That's why as soon as you came into this world, we decided to sign papers to arrange a marriage on your 18th birthday to Prince Laisen of the Kingdom of Lupita who's only one year older than you."

"I know this is a lot to take in but we were thinking the best for you and keep the tradition alive of parents arranging their sons and daughters to marriage. Please understand this and make sure to be the best wife to Laisen." Father finishes.

I look over at Mother, quite shocked by the unexpected news.

She walks over to me and places her soft hands on my cheeks.

"For a beautiful young princess, an equally handsome prince must stand beside. If you want to make friends, this is the way to go. I'm sorry we weren't able to give you what you wanted or make you happier but-"

"It's okay Mother. I am grateful for what you and Father did. I am happy that you are always thinking of my needs before my own and that's why you are the best parents that I could ever have." I say, beaming.

Mother's eyes glisten slightly as she smiles shakily and gives me a heartwarming hug. I feel a greater warmth place onto me when Father joins in our moment and I feel like I'm the luckiest but unluckiest person in the world...
