ππ˜π— πŠππ„π– 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 voice all too well, after all, he was the only person alive to call him by the name of Nyx. She cursed her luck since she never imagined to be in such an awkward situation.

"How can I ever forget you, Jason?" she said as she turned to face him with a forced smile on her face.

Zion had a confused expression on his face as he watched this strange guy Jason take Nyx's hand and kiss it. His lips lingered on her skin for more than the time Zion would have found fit. Jealousy slowly crept into his heart and he wished that he could throw away Jason far away from his Celeste.

And why did he even call her Nyx?

Somehow, he knew that they are closer than he had anticipated.

Nyx resisted chewing on her lower lip as she withdrew her hand from Jason's firm hold. The sparks were somewhat there, but in front of Zion, he meant nothing more than a random fuck to her. He might look like human Adonis but Zion was the most handsome man in the entire world for her.

Her feelings laid with Zion. She might love Jason in her own way, but she was completely and utterly in love with Zion.

"What you did back there was applauding, Nyx. I see you haven't changed your ways a bit," Jason says.

"You know me, Jason. Anyone who dares to be on my wrong side always suffers. That aside, Jason I would like you to meet my dear friend, Noah Zion Black," she says as she introduces Zion to him. Not that she needed to since Jason was very much aware of the man standing next to Nyx.

The man he wished would disappear from the face of the world and leave Nyx alone to him.

Both of them shook their hands and even Nyx could feel the tension in between. She was sure that there was being a display of power, but she was puzzled as to why Zion would despise the guy. As far as she knew Zion, he might have not been accepting of strangers but he wasn't rude to them until he judged whether the person's character deserved which side of him.

"It's nice to meet you, Noah. I am Jason Tyler Cruise," Jason said.

"Yeah, I am aware. I have to say, you have been the business magazine's favorite in these past few months," Zion replies.

Jason chuckled at the remark and something told him that Noah was comparing himself to him.

"What can I say, my success speaks for itself. Business aside, it was nice meeting you but I am needed somewhere else. I bet I will see you soon again, Nyx," Jason said.

But before he took his leave, he leaned in to whisper in Nyx's ears.

"By soon I mean real soon, Nyx. I am in a dire need to ravish you again," he whispers.

"If you don't get out of here soon, you will not be tasting a drop of me for at least a month. Now leave us alone," she whispers back with a warning tone.

As Jason walked away, Zion felt an untold history between Nyx and him. There was no away Celeste and Jason haven't shared chemistry. In fact, in his eyes, they were the golden couple - with great looks, powerful personalities, and rich background. They were both successful in the lives they chose.

Zion couldn't help but compare himself to Jason. He was after all everything Zion wasn't. Jason can build castles for Celeste, he can't. Jason can give Celeste anything she ever wants since he earned billions, whereas Zion couldn't even pay his tuition fees at college without a scholarship supporting him. Somehow, he felt that this battle with Jason over Celeste's heart was something he might lose.

And it scared him - he didn't ever want to lose Celeste. He was a nobody and if Jason stole her from him, there was no way she would remember him. How could she? She had more important people in her life.

"Zion? Let's go," Nyx said, breaking his chain of thoughts.

He simply nodded, not in the mood to talk.

He had a feeling that he needs to start working harder and cherish every single moment with Celeste. Because now, he felt uncertain about their future.

ππ˜π— ππŽπ“πˆπ‚π„πƒ 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 Zion was oddly quiet after the encounter with Jason. She hoped that he didn't feel insecure and question their friendship because for her; it was always him. Growing up surrounded by all the riches in the world made her realize that all that money meant nothing if you didn't have someone to share it with - someone who you would love spending every single penny of yours on.

She wanted Zion to not feel unworthy of their friendship just because he lived in a shabby apartment or even didn't drive a Lamborghini. He wasn't born an elite like her and Jason, so when he achieves success in life it will be because of his own capabilities.

In fact, she didn't even mind giving up her luxurious life for the sake of Zion's love because in the end, she knew he was worth it. He cared for her and his love was enough.

"I think it's time we leave. I will just bid goodbye to my overbearing father," she told him.

"Why do we have to meet him? I don't like his vibes," Zion complained.

Nyx chuckled but still held his hand and dragged him away. Zion had his full of all the dishes and even though she wished she could click the embarrassing photos of him moaning while hungrily gulping down every last piece of that choco-lava cake, Nyx resorted to simply laugh at him.

She didn't care about what others might think of her date.

Nyx spotted her father soon enough and they walked towards him. Her father's attention turned to her as soon as she neared him. By the look on his face, Nyx was sure that her father wasn't happy with what went down with the Pattisons but she knew that he wouldn't make a scene in public.

"Father, we are leaving now," she informed him.

"Celeste! How are you?" a familiar voice greeted her and she turned to look at the famous model and designer who had contributed much to her career.

"Julie! I didn't know you were here. I didn't see you in the carpet. But I have to say, that lipstick looks stunning. Which brand is it?" Nyx said as she hugged Julie.

Julie was a forty-two-year lady with a twenty-year-old successful career in modeling and designing. She was her mother's close friend and Nyx's supporter when she chose her career path.

"You know me, love. I bought this from France and the brand is going to be secret. After all if I keep on telling others about it, then how will it be unique for me?" Julie laughed as she said.

Nyx smirked. Typical Julie.

"And who is this handsome young man?" Julie said as her eyes turned to Zion.

"Noah Zion Black, Miss Julie. I have heard a lot about you from Celeste. It is nice to meet you," Jason said.

"Oh, you flatter me, young man! But I am surprised I haven't heard about such a handsome man like you from Celeste. Young lady, why are you hiding such a gem?" Julie replied.

"Well, I don't like sharing what's mine," Nyx replied.

A smirk formed on Zion's look as his hands tightened around Nyx's waist and her words made his heart jump with joy.

She had called him hers.

"Always the possessive one, Nyx. I would love to cast you and Noah in my upcoming magazine shoot. Although I forgot to inform you, I have something in mind for you and that billionaire playboy, Jason Tyler Cruise," Julie said.

Nyx's eyes furrowed in confusion and Zion's mood dropped. Hearing that Celeste might work with Jason made him agitated.

"Oh.... why is that so? As far as I know, Jason is just a business guy," Nyx said.

"Well, your father here gave me this outstanding idea. I want something young and sexy on the covers for next month and considering the popularities of the Knights and the Cruise, it will be perfect! Even that handsome lad, Jason, agreed with it! You two are going to make the world jealous!" Julie exclaimed.

If and only if Julie needs the truth in her words.

Nyx frowned at her father's mention. Julie wasn't a fan of Nyx's father, but since her father was an investor in Julie's business, she had to bear with him. Nyx knew that her father was plotting something and considering how the Cruises were gaining immense popularity and Nyx was single, she was sure that her father was trying to set her up with Jason.

If only he knew the truth.

"Sure! You know I will never say no to you, Julie. Mail me the details will you?" Nyx said.

After a short conversation with Julie, Nyx, and Zion took their leave. Her father told Nyx that he would like to meet with her.

Nyx sighed but nodded.

She knew that ignoring her father had somehow become harder and that wasn't a good sign. He was plotting something for sure, and that scared her.

As the couple walked out, little did they know that they had fallen into a trap.

A trap that was set to tear them apart.

Astrid smirked as she watched them go - her plan was unfolding slowly. Soon, Zion would be hers.
