๐๐˜๐— ๐–๐Ž๐Š๐„ ๐”๐ the next day to find herself caged in comforting warmth. Muscled arms surrounded her waist and tingles ran down her neck as she felt Zion's breathing. His hard member rubbed against her ass - she could barely suppress the moan that threatens to leave her mouth.

She checked his temperature again, like the multiple time she had last night. She could barely sleep due to her worry for his health, sometimes waking up to put a wet cold towel on his head to cool him down. He seemed better now, but Nyx was sure that she would take an off from college today so that she can take care of him more.

Nyx turned to face Zion, admiring his handsome sleepy face in the morning. He looked sexy as hell and as she remembered the insatiable feeling of his lips against hers, she felt an ache develop in her core. A blush crept her gorgeous and she suddenly felt hot.

"What are you blushing about, sunshine?" she heard Zion say and she squeaked in surprise.

Zion looked at his best friend, a smile on his face, and new energy running through his body. He felt way better and was ready to take on the world. Last night was brutal and filled with fatal mistakes but he made no promises to not repeat them again. Street fighting was the only thing he was good at, not to forget that it was the only source of his income. He can't let it go so soon.

He knew that Nyx would argue with him to leave and even bribe him with money. But he was self-reliant and didn't ask for her help. She had already done a lot for him - like paying for most of his brother's hospital fees. No matter how much he protested, he would find out every month that the bill has been paid off by an anonymous entity.

No one beside Nyx knew of Ryan's condition so he was sure that it was her.

This month, though, he wanted to pay for his brother's treatment. That's why he had taken up the fight with Hunter. Although, it was one of the reasons. Hunter was a shameless man who treated women like objects. Zion couldn't control his anger when he heard Hunter objectify Nyx, calling her a slut. That's why he made sure that no matter how many blows he suffered, he would bleed Hunter to his death.

Luckily, that son of a bitch got saved by the referee.

Zion couldn't remember what happened after he was declared as the winner and forcefully, pulled off Hunter. He certainly did not remember calling Nyx for help but he was sure that Leo would have done it for him. Zion hated when Nyx saw him like that, he wanted to appear strong in front of her and make her believe that he would protect her from the predators that surrounded her.

His feelings for Nyx weren't new, they had been there since the day he laid his eyes on her in the graveyard. He fought the urge to pin her against the wall every single day, she was truly a masterpiece.

She was surely a bad girl, and Zion knew that he was no saint. He loved his fiestiness; it was a major turn-on. He loved the way she faced the world without any fear - she was a diamond in this world of coal. A diamond he wished to steal and keep to himself.

"Zion?" Nyx said, snapping him out of his thoughts.

He loved the way he spoke his name, it was simply enchanting.

"Are you fine, now?" she asks, concern swimming in her eyes. Zion hated seeing her worry - he should be the one doing that for her. But now he was the reason behind it.

"Yeah... I don't remember last night much but I am sure that you took care of me. Thank you." he says.

A frown forms on Nyx's face and she could feel her heart shatter. She feared this - he wouldn't remember anything. Her hopes of being with him were crushed and she cursed herself for surrendering to her heart last night.

This was all her fault. Last night, it wasn't Zion who was professing his love for her - it was just the medicine meddling with his thoughts. Of course, he would never kiss her. He didn't love her.

"I will always be there for you, Zion." she manages to say but internally she was crying.

She braved a smile but Zion could see right through it. He knows her enough to guess when she is hiding something and right now, he felt exactly that. Did something happen between them last night, he wondered.

"I will ask Gracie to cook some breakfast for us after which, I will give you your medicine," she says as she gets up. She needed to recollect her thoughts and face Zion later. She cannot overwhelm herself with emotions and ruin their friendship.

Her mother had advised her to never let go of a man who treats her like a Queen and she will adhere to that. Her emotions can be dealt with later and hopefully, a time will come when she would forget about them. Zion deserved someone better than her - she was just too cruel for him.

"Is everything alright, Lessie?" Zion asks, concerned.

"Yeah, why wouldn't it be?" she replies rather quickly and gets off the bed. She doesn't make eye contact with him and Zion gets worried. Perhaps she was angry about his fight last night.

"I am sorry, Lessie. I needed the money..... I know it is not fine to put myself in danger but you have to understand where I come from. I needed the money fast and this was the only way to do it." he says.

If Nyx wasn't angry before, she was now. How dare he say that?

"Are you insane, Zion? If you wanted money, you would have asked me for it! In order to see Ryan wake up, you have to be alive too. Getting yourself beated isn't the best way to try to stay alive, you know!" she shouted at him in anger.

"I don't need your money, Celeste! It feels wrong.... I am a grown man and can earn on my own." Zion replies with equal furiousity.

Nyx realized then and there that this was all about his fragile man ego. Did he seriously care about his ego more than his own health? Was asking money from their friend so beneath him?

"You know what? I am done fighting with you. One day I hope those punches can knock some senses into you." she says as she rushes to the washroom and slams the door behind her. This was an argument she couldn't win - no matter how hard she tried. She needed to get him a stable job in order to convince him to leave.

She took off her clothes and put herself under the cold shower water. She tried to calm herself down under the cold water but her mind was pregnant with worry. She can't lose him - it will kill her.

After washing herself in her favorite rose soap and shampoo such that she smelled of rose, she got out of the shower and wrapped herself in the towel. She absentmindedly opened the door and walked out, her thoughts muddled.

Before she could realize what was happening, she crashed into a hard chest. She lifted her face only to see the hazel eyes she adored, now slightly darkened.

And then she realized that she was standing only in her towel in front of Zion.
