Chapter 1

Year 2025, the very first ever VRMMORPG game called 'Phantasy Realm Online' was created. It's a generated fantasy world totally different from the games people played in front of their computers. 'Virtual Reality', that year was the start of a new era.

One week prior to its official release date, moments after the official pre – registration of the game opened; the game's main department was bombarded with over 2 billion player registrations throughout the world. The system almost collapsed due to information overload sent by every game's branches scattered around the globe. Despite all of this, a single person remained unbothered by the situation.

– 10 hours prior to the Grand Launch of 'Phantasy Realm Online' –

C Academy, a prestigious school wherein several influential and significant people's children were attending to. C Academy produced several prodigies excelling in every field there was. Among those prodigies was Jaycee Kim, the only son of Jerry Kim, the current country president and a major company owner. Jaycee had everything every man desired; look, wealth, knowledge and skills. He excelled in music as he played several musical instruments like piano, guitar and violin. He's also a professional fencing player and a black belter in taekwondo. He dominated the top ranking by placing first in every written exam for the entire three years of his stay in that school. He was truly a remarkable and outstanding person deserving to be called a genius. However, he has one or a two minor flaw. He's totally unapproachable and lacked the social skills. In other people's perspective, there's this cold yet scorching aura veiled around him, making it hard for others to talk to him, matter worse even just approaching him was totally impossible. He's also a total bookworm. Grades are the most important numbers for him.

As he was on his way towards the cafeteria, every student he passed by all had the same words coming out from their mouth, 'Fantasy Realm Online'. Even inside the cafeteria, every single one of the students was uttering the same words. Despite all of that, Jaycee was totally unwavering. He looked for an empty seat and enjoyed his food with a classic music coming out from his wireless ear bud. For him everything around him was a nuisance.

'Wherever I go, all I hear is that new game. If they spend their time studying instead of blabbing around stupid nonsense, that'll be more beneficial to them.'

Jaycee was totally unaware about the student's gazes towards him. In short, his fan girls. With his gorgeous look, it's not strange if a sudden fan base was formed. They were admiring Jaycee from afar with hearts floating around their heads. Despite the intolerable gazes, Jaycee enjoyed his meal as if he had no care of what was happening. His mood instantly gone spoiled after seeing a person sat in front of him. With a fork, that person stole a portion of his meat and wholeheartedly ate it in gusto. To brush off his spoiled mood, he just ignored that person and ate in silence, without batting a single eye at him.

"Jaycee, you hate sausages right?" That man initiated the talk with his mouth full.

Jaycee completely lost his appetite. With brute force, he slammed the spoon he's holding onto the table and indifferently scowled in front of that person. The loud slam instantaneously made everyone around startled and unconsciously gone silent as they glanced through the source of the loud noise. Among those startled student, of course the person in front of him was the most frightened one. That person even shivered as he avoided Jaycee's eyes.

Jaycee heavily sighed. "Didn't your father hire a table etiquette teacher for you? What in the world happened?"

That person gradually chewed and swallowed the food in his mouth. "That boring class? I'd rather jump down a building than attend that stupidly boring class."

That person's name was Denver Choi. He's the third son of Richard Choi, owner of Choi Biomedical, one of the major companies in the country. Despite his father's perfect conduct and mannerism, he's the total opposite. He's ill-mannered, easygoing and basically a simpleton. Denver and Jaycee's parents were high school friends and their family already had the bond that lasted for almost three generations; reason for them to basically grew up together. Although they were totally bipolar, it was a total mystery on how they became friends. Even Denver himself found it strange and interesting.

Jaycee stood up despite not finishing his meal.

"Want me to find you a good building to jump on? Treat it as a farewell gift from yours truly. I'll gladly assist you to your death."

Denver abruptly stood up and yelled, "What?!"

Jaycee indifferently slapped his cheeks lightly and explained, "Don't look at me like that. It's just a joke."

Jaycee left the table.

Without thinking much, Denver unexpectedly grabbed Jaycee's arm. "Wait! Where are you goi-," Denver cut his words and instantly felt the chill upon seeing Jaycee's cold expression directly pointed towards him.

"Don't touch me with those filthy hands of yours." Jaycee coldly glared.

In an instant, Denver immediately pulled his hand away together with an awkward laugh and explained, "Oh! Sorry. Haha~! My bad."

Jaycee left the cafeteria after that. Denver on the other hand, instantly flopped down onto his seat as he recalled a certain horrifying incidents when he was a child. Incidents where Jaycee was the one who brought it to him.

"That crazy freak. I almost triggered his inner demon." He frustratingly sighed.

Three hours have passed and the afternoon bell rang. Students started leaving the academy though unlike before they all had this invigorating look in their faces. Well it's a given as later that night will be the official launch of the very first VRMMORPG game everyone was dying for. For Jaycee, he doesn't give a bit of attention to it. As he reached the school gate, an annoying existence crept behind, crawled up and rode his back.

"Jaycee! Let's go home together!"

Jaycee terrifyingly sighed. "Don't test my patience, get off now Denver Choi. Or else …"

Denver instantaneously got off even faster than the wind. He turned red as he loudly yelled, "Or else what?! You'll traumatize me again?! You heartless psychopath!"

Jaycee ignored his ranting and walked away. Denver angrily scowled at Jaycee's back despite the growing distance between them.

Denver whispered, "That ungrateful, rude psychopath. Be thankful I'm still patiently tolerating that cheeky attitude of yours."

Well in the end, Denver still ran towards him and shouted, "Hey! Wait for me!"

Denver and Jaycee were sadly neighbors. Their estate was a few minutes away from the school they were attending to. That's why almost every day, they walked home together though Jaycee found it unbearable and simply irritating. He loves being alone and silence was his comfort zone. Being with the loud Denver totally irked him down to his core. That day, as they were stopped in front of a pedestrian lane, despite the choking awkwardness surrounding them, Denver plucked the courage to speak.

"Jaycee, what's you-," he was cut off in an instant.

"Don't talk to me." Jaycee bluntly said.

"Am I really your friend?"

"I said don't talk to me. In fact, just do not bother breathing. I think it's the best for the both of us."

Denver enraged and yelled, "No! We need to talk! Let's talk over there, that cafe over there!"

He dragged Jaycee into a nearby cafe. He ordered anything on the menu without bothering Jaycee for his order, as he already knew what Jaycee's personality was like. Jaycee would eat anything as long as it can feed his stomach and was edible. As soon as the food arrived in their table, they began eating without bothering one another. Denver took swift glances at Jaycee and it was so obvious that even Jaycee found it very uncomfortable.

"What do you want? Stop looking at me. Your gaze is disgusting."

Denver flinched in surprise and stammered, "How is it? It's good right?"

"Not bad. As long as it's edible, I don't really mind."

Denver looked silly as he glanced at him.

'This guy can totally survive in the wild. I can already picture him eating a living snake or crocodile.'

"Would you like a pudding?" Denver said out of the blue.

Hearing what Denver said, Jaycee halted and gradually looked at him with a surprisingly calm yet submissive expression.

'Nice! He's lured.'

"Should I order some?" Denver said.

'After being friends with him for almost my entire life, I am 100% sure that this guy right here, this demon in front of me has a sweet tooth and is very fond of puddings.'

Jaycee surprisingly nodded like an obedient dog.

"Okay."

Denver stood up with a victorious smile and headed towards the counter to order some pudding as a tribute to the great demon lord. After the ordered pudding arrived, Jaycee swiftly tasted it and based from his current mood, despite being naturally born with an indifferent expression, Denver was so sure that he is very satisfied with it.

'After immense observations for the past few years, I am 100% sure that he is currently in a joyous state. With that smile on his face ( although he is not really smiling ), I can now properly talk to him right?'

"By the way Jaycee, you've heard about the VRMMORPG game that to be released later at night right?"

Denver tensely swallowed and cleared his throat. "Wanna play with me?"
