5 Leads?

The state of the bedroom on the second floor was worse than the first had been. The bedroom looked as though a major fight or raid had occurred- clothes were thrown everywhere, draws from the dresser, amour, and night stand were pulled out or half hanging out of the slots they fit in with items in each of them having been searched through roughly by appearance.

The bed position of the bed was shifted at a angle as though something heavy had bumped into and forced it to shift from it's perfectly aligned position. The small TV had fallen to the floor and the screen had all but shattered. Most of the glass had been cleaned up so there was risk of anyone cutting themselves unless they touched the tv itself.

The bathroom was in a similar state with the jewelry box and cupboards having been rummaged through and everything thrown about. The metal shelf that held the bath towels and other toiletries had also been trashed.

"Who ever did this really tried their best to make it look like it was burglary." Abel commented as he stepped out of the bedroom. Ray nodded his head in agreement.

"The bedroom window wasn't the one that the suspect left through?" It seemed like it would've been the obvious choice to him if the suspect gathered all they wanted between the bedroom and room. His partner shook his head though.

"No, it was this window here. The way the bedroom faces is towards the east, if they tried to escape from that window it was a risk that the neighbors could've spotted them. The southern window however, no houses are positioned behind. Ideal for a quick escape without getting spotted." Abel explained as he opened the door to a room that appeared to be a study. Unlike the other rooms they had just gone through, this one looked completely untouched.

"Here's one of the few inconsistencies." Abel pointed out as he approached a bookcase that was on the back wall. It was made of sturdy oak and completely full of a variate of different books. He felt along one of the middle spots until his hand reached an empty spot. One book was missing from the shelf.

"This room which was completely untouched has the highest likelihood of being where the victim would keep any cash considering how sparsely furnished and tidy it is, yet the only thing that is missing is one book. It doesn't even look like the suspect tried to go through this room to see if there was anything valuable." Ray took a look over the bookcase himself. Aside from the one book, nothing else seemed to be out of place.

"Is the book missing?" Ray asked as he walked over to the window and looked out it. The latch hadn't been broken or damaged from what he could tell. Looking out the window all he could see were trees that belonged to the mini forest that lead out to the highway. It didn't span for more than half a mile, but it was enough cover to stop someone from suspecting a person who came out the other side of it.

"They haven't been able to locate it, but with the states some of the rooms are in, it most likely would take some time before they would be able to determine if book is here somewhere else or not." Abel replied as he moved away from the bookcase to look around the rest of the room. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was still missing something, but there wasn't much for it until the rooms were thoroughly gone through and everything was documented.

After a quick further look around of the second floor, they went back down to the first one. Ray had some questions that he still wanted to ask the officer plus they had to agree to have the body moved as the forensic and medical team were done examining it.

"Does she have any relatives that we need to contact?" Ray asked one of the officers who was standing by on the inside by the front door.

"Yes Sir, she has a mother which we are currently working to get in touch with. However from what I understand Sir, she's an older woman who's suffering from fairly advanced Alzheimer's. We are in contact with the facility that has been caring for her and working with them, but they cannot promise whether or not she remembers her daughter well enough to know what happened to her even it was explained." The officer replied causing Ray to make a grim face, how unfortunate. She didn't even have much of any family that would miss her being gone.

"Since we've seen everything that there is to see here, we should go visit her place of work next." Abel commented as he headed towards the front door.

"Wait, what about her phone?" Ray asked, realizing that was one piece he hadn't seen since being here.

"They took it already, apparently it had been fairly badly damaged in the commotion, but they should be able to still get any information off of it." He explained continuing to head out the front door.

"are we going together? I wasn't briefed as to where she worked." Ray called out to his partner who turned to look at him.

"If you want, but I'm driving so you'll need to find someone to take care of your car here." Abel replied. "As for where she works, she worked at a small publishing company further in the city apparently. Jack and Winster's publishing I believe it was called." After he finished speaking he started to head out the front door leaving Ray behind to ask the officer if he could hold onto the keys to his car and take it to the station if he wasn't back by the time they were finished at the house.

Abel was already seated in his car, the windows rolled half down the engine on as he was waiting for the other. Ray noticed his eyes were closed under the sunglasses that he had put on. He wondered if the other was already tired. Unlike him, Abel had recently moved here not long ago which meant he probably hadn't had much time to breathe between moving and getting placed on this case.

"Thank you for waiting." Ray told the other as he got into the car. Abel didn't say anything as he took the car out of park and began to pull out, being watchful for the other vehicles around them and people to make sure that he didn't accidentally hit anyone or dent a vehicle.

Ray didn't miss the fact that the vehicle was riding in was a of a higher quality brand that the one that he had been handed down. It furthered his curiosity as whether the other was well to do and if he was, what made him decide to become a detective?
