11 Alice Green

Abel would've preferred to be done for the night after getting the call from Ray. Knowing that there was someone he wouldn't be able to talk with until tomorrow about the case made him want to retire for the night, but he knew unless he finished reviewing all the notes that he had taken, he wouldn't be able to take his mind off of them.

If there was possible something that this person that Ray was talking about said that might link back to notes that someone else said to Abel the night before, he would be rather annoyed with himself if he didn't do this one last part.

He glanced at the watch on his wrist as he continued to go through them. He still had thirty minutes until his next important meeting of the evening so there was plenty of time for him to finish up. After all, he wasn't going to need to back to his apartment prior to the meeting, his work clothes would work just fine for this.

Or at least he thought that he would have had enough time to finish up, but he was only two thirds of the way done before his phone began to buzz and let him know that there was only ten minutes left until his meeting which meant that it was time for him to leave. Sighing he put the papers in dashboard draw in order to keep them safe and make sure that no one else would see them. He would come back to them later that night or the next morning if he didn't have time.

It was just supposed to be a dinner meeting, but he knew that those could go rather long with the person that he was meeting with. They tended to like to talk about a lot of things even though Abel had made it clear on a number of occasions that he preferred to keep it short and proper.

He pulled up to a rather fancy looking restaurant called 'lumière brillante'. It wasn't the type of restaurant he would've chosen to go it he had a choice, but he didn't thus he would make the best of the over priced food at least since he wouldn't likely to be paying tonight.

He tsked as he got out of the car and locked it once he had stepped out. He did a backwards countdown in his head as he walked towards the entrance of the building, reminding himself that it wasn't going to be as bad as he thought it was, it was never was after all, right?

"Hello how may I help you?" The waiter asked in his thick French accent as he greeted Abel.

"I am here as the other part of the party for a miss Alice Green?" Abel replied, the waiter gave a slight nod of his head and looked over the sheet he had in front of him until he found the name that Abel said.

"I see that, Miss Alice Green is already here, so right this way sir." the waiter said as he began to lead him back, of course she was. Even though he was there early, she always had to be there that much earlier than him.

Ray ended leaving the office later than he had expected, even after he had told his partner that he would leaving early. He ended up talking with Harold for too long and asking him if he wanted to go out and celebrate by having dinner with him. He had originally been wanting to wait until after the case was done, on a different date than what he would go to dinner with Abel if he ever agreed. But he wasn't going to shoot down the chance now that Harold had brought it up himself.

The place that they were going to was a gastro pub called 'Retroed'. It wasn't a particularly pricy or upscale place to go to, it had just become one of their favorite places to go together whenever they had something important to talk about or wanted to celebrate something.

That night, Ray had also agreed to drive Harold to the pub and take him home as part of his 'thank you' to the older man for helping him get to where he currently was.

They were about three fourths of the way to the pub when Harold suddenly tapped Ray on the shoulder and asked him to slow down. He did as the other asked and slowed the car down to crawl in front of a restaurant that he didn't recognize.

He was about ready to ask Harold why he was having him stop here as he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary when suddenly a man and a woman stepped out of the restaurant. The woman didn't look familiar to him though she looked rather attractive after her 5'8 height which accentuated by the black heels she was wearing. She was wearing a dark blue shawl-collar sleeveless sheath dress suit which looked a though the bottom was a touch too short consider it didn't appear as though she was wearing anything underneath it. She was also wearing a a pear necklace with a pair of matching pear earrings which looked as though they would've cost Ray the entire year's worth of his salary to afford. Overall though, she looked like quite the attractive lady hanging off of the man's arm.

It took Ray a few seconds to realize it, but the 'man' that the woman was hanging off of looked a lot like or rather perhaps was Abel Gray, his new partner. He had to admit that for someone who hadn't moved here that long ago, he was surprised to see that he had already found himself a female companion to keep him company. He still didn't quite understand why Harold was acting so surprised and shocked by what he had just seen.

"You really have no idea who that was?" Harold asked him after the couple had walked out of sight and he told the young detective to continue on his way to the gastro pub so that they could eat.

"Absolutely no idea, she quite the looker but her face isn't one that I can remember seeing before." Ray replied as he tried his best to think of whether or not he remembered meeting such a woman before.

"You're still too much out of the loop there young man." Harold scolded with a shake of his head not understanding how his younger companion wasn't aware of who the woman they just passed was.

"That was Alice Green, The Alice Green."
