First few steps to a new broken world

After getting his bearings and stood up with difficulty. He started walking down the street calling and looking for anybody but no one called back. He proceeded down the cracked and rugged road. Jacob found himself at a half destroyed 7/11 and walked in. He limped to a cooler and grabbed a bottle of water and downed it he is confused about not seeing anybody not even a dead body but he didn't think to much into it he proceeded grab another water bottle and carried it do a a shelf and picked up a bag of chips. He hasn't eaten anything before seeing the news.

Jacob sat on the counter and massaged his legs to get rid of the numbness feeling. He got done in around 5min. Jacob felt a lot better he walked out of the 7/11 and thought of we're to go next not then he saw a figure in the distance ."hey there wait up" Jacob said but the figure just stood there . Jacob started walking to it but the figure started going around the corner .He quickened his pace and called again and there was no answer. Jacob got to the corner but saw no one "hey you there" still no awnser. Jacob gave up and started why he hasn't saw anybody or anything besides the figure and why there was no radiation from the bomb blast. Jacob got scared 'what if I'm alone' he thought.he shook off the feeling of being alone and thought I can't be alone there has to be other people alive. Jacob took his phone from his pocket . The phone is cracked but not to bad he turned it and realized he still had phone service. he called his home phone it ringed and ringed until a male voice picked up Jacob said "dad" the voice said who's this "it's Jacob" Jacob said. The person on the other side of the phone said "sorry man I think you got the wrong number" but Jacob was almost a hundred percent sure this is his dad. "no no it's me Jacob " the line went silent and the call ended . Jacob called and called again but it never made it threw. He didn't know what to do so he started walking didn't know we're to just kept moving until he finds something or someone.

After a hour of walking Jacob got confused he was at the hotel and saw the 7/11 down the street. and saw the same figure from before standing there he jogged over and the figure went around the corner again Jacob got there again and saw no one.
