5 Chapter 2

Chapter 2:

Meeting Asher Grey

"What is this rubbish?" I asked angrily as I threw the papers at the face of the employee standing before me, now trembling.

"Sir I did the research and investing in the Forbe's project was profitable. I don't know how all of a sudden....." His voice shaking along with his hands.

I cut him off," I don't know how Linon hired you but according to me. You lack common sense. This is the last time you will make a mistake in my company." I said standing up from my seat."Wh..... What do you.......do you mean, Mr. Grey?" I smirked at him, shoved my hands in the pockets of my trousers. "You're fired, Mr. Dalton."

"Mr. Grey, I promise this won't happen again. I need this---"

I cut him off again.

"There will be no tomorrow and I don't care if you need this job to earn money. If you really needed this job you would have worked harder. This will be your first and last mistake in the Grey Enterprises. I don't give second chances, Mr. Dalton and you should be fully aware of it by now. So I'll tell you what you'll do tomorrow. You'll come and collect your final pay check from my assistant. Now GET. OUT."

"Sir please I really need this...."

I could see a thin layer of moisture forming in his eyes. Pathetic.

"I said Get. Out. , Mr. Dalton. I don't have time for your pathetic games. You should have thought before you made such a silly mistake." I said and turned around such that my back was facing him.

"Sir my mother... Sir please..... Please sir........ I won't give you any other complaints........ Please just this one chance." As soon as I heard the word mother from his mouth my heart softened a bit. I turned back and sat down. Tears were rolling down his cheeks. "Have a seat, Mr Dalton. What's wrong with your mother?"

He wiped his tears, sat down on the chair in front of me. "Sir my mother has to go through a surgery. I need this job to pay for her medical fees."

"How much?" I asked him as I looked at him straight in the eye to find out whether he was saying the truth or lying but I didn't find a trace of fear or guilt. His eyes were covered in tears and sadness.

"Nine hundred and seventy thousand dollars." He replied. He was still shivering. I took the glass on my table filled with water removed it's cover and moved it towards him. "Lisa!" I called my assistant and she came running in. "Yes Mr. Grey?" she asked me panting. Looks like she came running. "Get ready a check of nine hundred and eighty thousand ready as well as Mr. Dalton's pay check right here within 5 minutes." But she didn't leave she stood there writting something on her notepad. "Miss. Lisa?"

"Just a minute Mr. Grey." As soon as she was done she two slips and kept them in front of me. I looked at them they were checks. I smiled. "Pen?" I asked Lisa as I held out my hand for her to put the pen on my palm. She kept the pen on my palm and I signed the two slips. "Leave us Miss. Linson." I said and she left instantly.

"Mr. Dalton keep these and I'll write you a recommendation letter but you are not working in this company again." I said as I handed him the letter.

"Thank you sir." I closed and gave him a nod and turned my chair around he got his clue that he has to leave. "I won't disappoint you sir." Saying that he left.

I am Asher..... Asher Grey. The CEO of Grey Enterprises and I don't give second chances. They are just too expensive or let's say I just can't afford them.

"Asher." I heard a voice. I lifted my eyes to see who it was. And there stood my brother at my office door in all his pride and glory.

"Hey." I said in a cold voice as I looked at him.

"Why did a employee left your office crying yet he was smiling? Let's say he was crying while smiling. "

"Because I fired him and I helped him a bit too. Anyway, how is your Mrs. Grey?" I asked with a small smirk on my lips.

"Good and you know she is my wife."

"So what, she is my dear sister-in-law?"

"Whatever." He said rolling his eyes.

Childish enough.

"So what are you here for?" I asked curious to know why he decided to pay me a sudden visit.

"Dad asked you to come for dinner tonight." He said with hope in his eyes. I have been drowning myself in work. Its about time I go back to my family.

"Okay." I said turning my attention from my brother to the papers kept in front of me.

"Okay?" He asked blinking his eyes as if I said something unbelievable.

"Yeah." I said as I looked at him with a small smile on my face.

"Great then see you there." My brother was smiling. He looked happy.

He walked out and I sat down to finish the rest of the work for the day.

I signed the final file left for approval and glanced at the clock.

9:00 P. M.

Looks like I should leave now. Everyone must have left. I walked out of my office as I came across my assistant's office I could see the light of the room on. So I opened the door and saw my assistant sleeping with her head on the desk. It reminded me of her. She also used to sleep peacefully on this desk with her soft silky locks spread all over the desk.

I walked towards my assistant and shook her gently to wake her up. Her eyes instantly opened as she stood up straight. "Sorry sir. I-"

"It's okay Lisa. Go home. I am done for the day." I said to her. She nodded and I walked out of her office.

I went to the parking lot, got into my car and started driving towards my way home.

As I was half way there. Just then my phone started ringing, my attention turned from the road to the phone I picked it up to see who it was just but gave a glance to the road and  saw a girl as she ran in front of my car shielding something. I immediately applied the brakes. It stopped with a jerk. I looked the girl was just saved by a few inches or else I would have hit her.

But why the hell did she came in front of my car is this girl out of her head?

I exited my car in all fury.
