Nathan's Story - PT. 1

When Nathan was a young lad(around 7, or 8), he would be always playing outside. Enjoying everything to deal with nature. A few months beforehand, his mother died out of breast cancer. While his father didn't even try to pay attention to him.

In total truth, he was a orphan. His father sent him to a orphanage while he was young. So he got to play with kids around his age. Playing small games like tag, rugby, and football.(The European One. Like, ye know soccer for Americans.)

While still young, the orphanage held a small kindergarten for parents that couldn't raise their child while they were not at home because of work. These children who lived in the orphanage often attended this kindergarten. Nathan was one of them, and had met many children from families that were pretty well off.

Nathan ran over to one such children, "Elijah! Elijah!" The shouted trying to get the attention of his friend. Who was pretty alright in his attitude, and more or so a pretty nice child.

"Nathan! What?" Elijah spoke out in a panache manner.

"I found a caterpillar! It's cool isn't it?" As he opened up his hand, showing his bounty of caterpillars. While Elijah looked intrigued by the small creatures with many legs. As the caterpillar snuggled into the hand of Nathan, seemingly liking it's new home.

While the teacher came over, and began to scold Nathan seeing what was in his hand. "Nathan! You know better than to keep this inside! Now! Take it out." Nathan somberly nodded as he trudged outside and let the caterpillar go. The caterpillar landed on a leaf as it began to nibble on it.

It was currently spring time, with massive dark green trees filtering the sunlight from the floor of the forest. Their oak looking old, and very brown. While in the orphanage backyard, it told another tale of evergreen. A bounty of flowers, and smaller trees dotted that landscape. Showing that not all green had be to dark.

Nathan was a bit sad to had let the bounty of the caterpillar go as he returned inside to play, and learn with the other children.

Once he arrived though he could hear their conversation. As a pretty, young lady had entered the orphanage, and it seemed she was far ahead of the treatment than most of the other children. Although nothing compared to Nathan, who was raised by the orphanage. Nathan was fairly shy compared to the rest of the other children as they would continue on their day.

Nathan just went along with them to avoid meeting this 'fresh blood' to the orphanage. Although he was shy, his courage compared to the shyness was incredulous. The young lady was rather tomboyish in nature as she demanded to play with all the other children while stomping her feet like the spoiled child.

The orphanage owners allowed her to play with others like herself. Which is most likely meaning: rich children who are spoiled, and don't like sharing. The young lady didn't like playing with these children as she found them boring to be around. So, the orphanage owners allowed her to play within a group of Nathans.

Nathan pretty much ignored her as to not freak out. Although it didn't do much in the eyes of the orphanage owners who caught onto his behavior, and sighed in disappointment. As if this was going to fix his fear of strangers.

As the day went on the young lady, as of note she is around Nathan's Age, the children began to act very, very strange. As some began to weirdly mutate with strange powers. Some had augmented body parts resembling mythical, mystical creatures, or more common species such as elephants or elks. While some could manipulate strange things, such as heat, or dust.

Nathan unfortunately didn't unlock such mysterious powers of the New Age. Rather; he was like the people of the old age who had no such mutations or abilities, and relied on their wits to survive in the world. Such as using their hands to craft power devices which could kill thousands.

The other children begin to target him for not being like them shortly after his short coming. Soon enough, his leader position was lost because of being abnormal compared to these lads. So when he was cast out he cried for a little bit. Then began to dry up, showing his unwillingness to act like a baby.

After learning the hard truth of the orphanage. He was still rather loved by the orphanage owners. Who just like him had no such powers to exist. And were rather well off even without those powers with their hard work.

Even with so, he had to mind those with super powers. As he could easily become injured, and be bullied. So when he entered school for the third year, those who had powers had been separated from the main class. Which he thought was unfair to those without powers. So 85% of the seats were empty, and their classes was status quo.

Then the thought dawned on him that it wasn't fair, and it only served to protect him. So he began to lazily go through his classes while still keeping his near perfect grade. Teachers called him a Gem among the herd of rocks. He was still rather unpolished, but he could begin to become refined.

So throughout the next few years he continued to act the way that he did. Dreaming of great dreams, and being called a great prodigy. Even though this didn't mean much, it still did something for him for the future. As he could easily create many businesses with his great mind. Yet he was not witty nor clever. His theoretical knowledge and the part of applying it was marvelous. It did not mean much in middle school however.

Ooga ooga. Cliff hanged.
