1 The Sea

The familiar feelings of hopelessness and anxiety hit me like a wave from the sea. I absolutely dreaded it.

The sea.

Anything could happen out there. Endless amounts of organisms, dangerous or weird, and salt water- all in one place. Beautiful yet dangerous. Calm yet violent.

Sadly, for me, the only way I could experience the beauty of the sea was to go in it. Looking at it was just not enough.

Thrashing violently while gasping for air, I paddled as hard as I possibly could with my scrawny little legs. Oh how I wish I could just live a normal life, sitting on the coach like a coach potato while snacking on Doritoes. But, with my luck, it was near impossible that I went through a day without being almost killed at least once or twice.

Yes, this is totally the typical type of life a fifteen-year-old has. After a while of 'battling' with the stormy sea, I caught sight of a floating device near me. Desperate to live, I grabbed onto the float and realised that it was attached to a boat with a rope.

Slowly but not so surely, I got lifted up and stood on what looked like a big wooden board. Shivering like I just got put into a freezer, I managed to say through my chattering teeth," Th-thank y-you."

It was about time my Uncle, a Super wealthy and extremely successful businessman, sent a huge boat to save me. I scanned the area, but did not catch a glimpse of my Father.

My dad and I were out at sea earlier this morning to find treasure that my Father had been researching on. During our expedition, a storm occurred and my Father and I got separated. I had expected to see him in the boat as he was very experienced and could always find a way out of dangerous situations like this.

" Where's dad, Uncle?" My Uncle avoided my gaze and shook his head with remorse and sadness.

"Uncle, you're acting weird. Did dad get injured?" I asked with curiosity and a lot of concern. He just stood still and kept as silent as a tiny church mouse that couldn't even make a little squeak.

After a moment of utter silence and awkwardness, Uncle said," Your Father, he didn't make it. We've tried finding him, I've sent all my best men out to sea to find him but so far, I've not gotten any news."
