CHAPTER 1

Amelia Charlotte Winters' POV

'Mom, I'm going to school now, see y...' I paused in my tracks as I overheard my mom and dad talking about me.

"Honey...I don't have enough money to pay for Amy's school fees...I barely even paid for Jonathan's and my pills..." My dad sighed mid sentence.

"I know love...don't stress, I'm also trying hard at the cafe...I'll ask Mr Williams to give me a raise...maybe then we'll have enough money to pay for our expenses, but for now the most important thing is your health." My mom said with a sullen expression on her face.

I just stood there, watching them hug each other holding back my tears...I put my hand over my mouth to stop myself from bursting into tears, turned around and tip toed out of the house.

Once I got out, feeling the cold breeze on my face, I took deep breaths to calm myself down a bit.

Mom and dad have always been struggling financially and as much as I would love to help...their ego just won't let me. I am in grade 11 in Bridgetown high and my parents want me to focus on my studies so I can go to university and get a good job in the future. My little brother Jonathan is only 12 years old and because of peer pressure, he practically forced my parents to get him in a private school, which is more expensive than my school. On the other hand Dad has anorexia...and he hasn't gotten his medicine in three months straight.

I can understand what my parents are going through at this tough time. With my dad being an account and my mom working as a waitress in a cafe...budget is always tight.

As I made my way down the street walking past sewage pipes busy thinking of how I could possibly help my parents, a black SUV stopped right beside me making me pick up my pace.

The man in the SUV was wearing a black suit and a black mask so I couldn't really see his face properly.

Then he rolled down his windows and took off his mask. I gasped seeing the face in front of me made me stop my tracks...I then looked down in embarrassment of how red my checks were turning from seeing this godly man in front of me.

"Morning Ms. Winters...it's quite cold for you to walk in a skirt don't you think?" Mr Lumber asked making me blush even more as I felt the temperature get a bit warmer, I just nodded.

'Get in the car...we are going to the same direction and I can't let my student suffer in this cold weather.' He said justifying his polite gesture. Then I...being the sweet little love struck girl I am...got in his car without asking any questions...he is my principal after all.
