28 Episode 26

[In Jeff's point of view ]

The intense moment grew longer, it seemed. No one said a word. Our eyes remained glued on one another as she waited for me to speak.

"What is it?" she finally spoke up.

"What is what?"

"You have that look on your face that says you have something to say."

"Yes you are right I have something to say." I said and looked right into her eyes.

"Candy, I wanted everything to be perfect when I say this that is why I brought you here.

For the past four years, you have been of great help to me. You stood against me when I fought against my emotions. When I went through hell with the idea that I had lost Sav. I always distance myself from you but you never gave up. You kept offering me what I needed at that time - the support and love of a friend.

I found the reason to my smile again because you came back into my life.

Having you by my side at through all that was what completed me and after careful consideration, I now know that you and I are truly meant to be together.

And you were right when you said it was time I let go of the past. I think I am ready now. There are many ways to be happy in this life and holding on to the past is not one of them. I have to look into my present and into my future and when I did, I realized that all I really need is you. You are the kind of crazy I need in my life.

When I look into your eyes, I can see a reflection of the two of us and the life I hope we'll share together."

I pulled out a handkerchief from the top of the suit I wore, removed the ring from it and went down on my knees.

"Candy, Will you continue to make me the happiest man on earth and-"

"Yes. Jeff. Yes I will marry you."

My heart skipped a beat when I heard those words from her mouth. The world seemed to have vanished and I couldn't look away as I stared into her teary eyes. I pushed the ring up her finger, stood up and hugged her.

We went ahead with our diner and left to the house when we were done.

"Good Morning my love." I said and kissed her on the forehead as she crawled out of bed.

"Where are you off to this early? I believe we agreed no one is going anywhere today?"

"Yes I remember, but there is this adoption proceedings I have close today so I have to go but I promise when I'm done, you will get me all to yourself." I explained as I packed my files into my bag.

"OK if you say so. Take care love."

"Alright. I love you." I said and walked out of the house and drove to the orphanage.

A tall, wrought iron gates surrounded the orphanage. A look at it and you know it was an orphanage. I walked through the gates feeling very odd. A sign that it wasn't going to be the same as any adoption case I had ever worked on.

A boy fell right beneath my feet the second I walked in. He looked like he was being chased by another boy and he fell.

"You kids should be really careful when you play!" A lady screamed from afar.

I bent over to him as he lay down his face on the ground. I picked him up and held him up in my hands.

He squalled as his sight met with the blood that was slowly oozing out of numerous wounds on his legs and arm, it was a small flow of crimson, but however, he felt pain.

I placed him down and attended to his wounds. He stopped crying and looked at me with his head askew.

His eyes were taking me in without moving and I knew behind those dark iris's there were calculations going on. I was sure he wondered who I was and why I was helping him.

"So sorry, sir. Let me take over from here."

The lady finally reached where I stood.

"It's okay sister. This boy is a smart kid." He smiled as I handed him over to her.

There was something about him that drew me to him. I knew it wasn't that he was a good looking boy; but it was more than that. He was quiet, but not out of painful shyness.

He held my shoulder in a way that suggested he didn't want to let go and that kept me in shock. I sighed at the return of the memory of my child who would have been the same age as this boy if he were alive.

I stopped myself from being sentimental over a kid I just met. I gave him a smile as I turned away from him.

I turned back when I realized I had no idea where I was headed to.

"Anyway sister, do you happen to know where I can locate Mother Superior Kali's office?" I asked.

"Sure sir. Go straight to that door." she pointed at an old brown door the size of a wardrobe. "That's where she is." she added.

"Thank you sister." I said and walked towards the door.

These people really need the help of the government. I thought as I looked around the place.

[In Sav's Point of view]

"Savannah something happened with Addo." Sister Hannah shouted as she walked in.

"What happened?"

"He was playing outside and he fell and hurt himself."

"Oh God. Please put him on the bed. I will go to Mother superior's for the first Aid kit."

"I think you would have to wait because she just had a visitor."

"Don't worry. I won't disturb them. I will just get the kit and leave the room." I said and headed out.
