1 Chapter 1

Rose P.O.V.

Hey there, my name's Rochelle Evans, a 17 year old high school senior in Katy High. Outside I may seem like a normal, slightly malnourished teenage girl but actually, I'm a werewolf. Well I'm the pack runt to be exact.

When I was born, unlike by other siblings, I was in human form. They said that those who are born in human form are bound to be weaker compared to others, and coming from a family whose head is the current beta, well... let's just say I was not treated right.

My older brother, Connor, is the second strongest youth in the pack right after his best friend Devon, who just so happens to be the alpha's son and is always on top of the most wanted "man to sleep with" list. He is also the football captain whereas Connor is the quarterback.

My sister Adeline is the vice head cheerleader and best friend of Kristie. The girl who probably has the most STD's in our pack, the head cheerleader, and just so happens to be Devon's "Luna".

Truthfully I don't even believe that they deserve their titles, I mean don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against them (aside from the fact that they bully me every day), deep inside I even feel as if Devon might actually be good that's why I can't really hate him but since at the moment the only thing he actually does is bang everything with legs, I can't really see him as the alpha yet. And we all can guess how Kristie got her 'title'.

Well anyway, whatever they do won't really affect me so I guess it shouldn't really bother.

I'm just waiting for the day when I could finally meet my mate, my partner who would love me unconditionally and just sweep me off my feet away from this wretched pack. Oh only if that day would come faster.

I already know that he's not here, that's why I didn't sense anything on my 16nth birthday or any day after that. Either that or he's not yet of age which I doubt since the males are usually older than their partners, I don't really know why.

"HEY PIPSQUEAK!!!"

My thought were disturbed by my brothers infamous yell.

"GET YOUR A** DOWN HERE!!!"

'Oh boy... well I better get down now before I go deaf.' I muttered to myself as I got down from my small bed, got down the ladder from the attic and made my footsteps as light as I could as I approached them.

I entered the living room where I saw the alpha, my brother, my sister, and their friends sitting down in a circle.

There was a short silence before they all turned around to look at me with eyes that show pure disgust. And here it goes again, a lump forming in my throat, sudden blurriness of vision, and nausea.

"What can I do for you?" I was able to force out of my mouth unable to look at anyone in the room anymore.

"Just go get us some snacks and drinks then you can leave."

That's it? Well... I guess today's a good day!

I headed over to the kitchen and got some drinks from the refrigerator and chip bags from the cabinet, before I proceeded to place the contents of the chip bags in different bowls.

I steadily made my way over to the group holding everything I could before Kristie decided to trip me with her foot making me spill all of the chips onto them but mostly on, you could guess it, the alpha.

Looks like I spoke to soon...

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING YOU CLUTS?!"

Connor shouted, with the laughter of everyone else ringing in my ears.

I looked up to see Devon dusting off the chip remains from his hair and shirt, before standing up but was halted by a hand with really long painted fingernails.

"Oh Devon baby don't be mad~ let's just go clean you up before continuing alright?"

A really high pitched voice said that really made want to just rip my ears off so that I would no longer suffer from the pain.

"I don't think I'd want that." His deep voice resounded in my ears, as if an angel had healed them for a moment before they broke again.

"Then would you like to do something else~" Kristie whispered into his ear slightly slurring her words trying to make it sound sexy but really, she just sounded like a drunk woman who couldn't sing to save her life.

"You read my mind."

I heard some whistles and laughter as they made their way out of the room.

"Don't think you can get away from this pipsqueak. Get ready to face youre punishment later."

Connor said before facing his friends as they all proceeded to go to his room to play this game on his new console. Leaving me to clean up the mess I've made.

I just couldn't get any dumber, now could I? I sighed as I got up to get the mop, broom, and dustpan.

After I cleaned everything up, it was about time to make dinner so I went back to the kitchen.

Let me tell you this, cooking for 50 growing teenagers and close to a hundred others isn't easy, but I got used to it over the years after all; I've done so since I was about seven or eight.

After placing all the plates, cups, and other utensils along with the food on the two really long tables. I guessed it was about time to announce that dinner was ready.

I headed back into the kitchen where I pressed a button that would make beeping noises, not before long the seats were filled and they were all chatting happily with one another.

I listened to some of their conversations since I had nothing to but, but one in particular stood out from the rest. It was between the alpha and his son.

"Devon, my son, looks like tomorrow is the day when you will finally take my place as alpha. Are you prepared for it?"

"Well dad, were not really sure about that. First I'd have to find my mate and marry her right?"

"That's right, so what's bothering you?"

"What if... I don't know. I couldn't find her."

"Son tomorrow is the day when the alpha blood in you awakens. The only way wouldn't find her is if the is more than two states away. You will find her."

"Well what if I did but I don't like her? What if she's not strong enough to be Luna?"

"Well that's absurd! The moon goddess chose her for you, she chose her to be the mate of an alpha. Of course she should be strong, it's only natural."

"Alright then I'll take your word for it-"

"What are you looking at dear?" I was interrupted by a sweet sounding voice. I looked up to see Hana, the pack caretaker and the only one who is actually kind to me.

"Ms. Hana!" I accidentally shouted a bit too loudly.

"The children decided to seat with their parents so I decided to 'chill' here as the teenagers would say. So how's your day? Anything special happened?"

"Oh nothing much. Just my idiot brother and his friends."

Hana ended up chuckling at my last comment

"Well someone's a bit feisty today~ So tell me what happened."

"Well I sorta spilled some chips on Devon. But only because that b*tch Kristie tripped me!"

"She tripped you?!" Hanna spoke with shocked tone to her voice.

"Well I didn't really see if it was her foot but it make a sort of clack sound so I'm sure it was her stilettoes, since she's the only one there I'm sure who wore them."

"But I'm pretty sure her friends wear them too."

"Why are you defending them? are you betraying me too?!"

"ROSE! Turn down your tone young lady."

I was shocked at myself for saying that, I mean I never lash out at anybody, especially Hana.

"I'm sorry." I quickly apologized to her while bowing my head.

"Is it about Devon?"

"Huh?!" I responded shocked at her words.

"Is it Devon. It's because he will find his mate tomorrow isn't it?"

"... How did you?"

"Honey I've been with you for forever. I would know when my little baby has a crush on a certain someone."

"... Alright. You got me. I like Devon. There were times when he bullied me but recently he seemed kinder, he once even kept me from falling down the stairs when I accidentally slipped. He's not actually that bad and I know of it! he's just misguided most probably because of Kristie."

"I know honey, but why are you so mad at Kristie? Did something happen which I should know about?"

"... well... she's got everything that I want, that I don't have."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Huh?"

"There are also some things that she doesn't have you know."

"Like what?"

"Well... I shouldn't really say this but you know she was adopted by the Jefferson's right?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well honey, we are not so sure but we know she lost her real family. We found her in the woods crying and covered in dirt when she was about seven years old."

"...oh."

"Don't tell anybody what I told you alright? And promise me you won't judge anyone off the hook anymore. Who knows they might actually be a lot better than you thought."

"I understand, thanks Hana. I'm calmed down now."

"Good, well then it looks like they are already done. Let me help you with the cleanup."

"Thanks Hana."
