5 What's with that serious kid? Part 2

The part i hated most in my school education was being 1st in the attendance list ( it is based on alphabetical order) and my name starts with double 'a' was enough to cement the spot for my entire life.

The worse part is whenever the teacher wants to do something with the class, like asking random quiz, or distributing exam papers, or collecting any assignments or wanted volunteers for any experiment by default my name will be called upon "Roll number 1"😑. Most of the time "Roll number 1" will be the perfect scapegoat option for my class mates as well 😤 during any recital of class essays for internal marks.

Whenever my exam answer sheets are distributed by the teachers, after scoring, we can concluded below points by just looking at it

1) How was her mood while scoring the paper?

2) How the scoring will be for other students: lenient or strict?

3) What snacks the teacher had while scoring papers?

Yeah you read that right, being first among the stacks of papers in a teacher's desk, will lead to being a victim of tea/ coffee glass or snacks holder placement abusement. Along with answers and scores my paper will also bear the marks of tea cups and oil stains

Only who knows the stress of using right amount of color sketch pens/ highlighters to make the answer sheets more presentable before the final bell, will understand the pain when seeing the sheet in this painful state.😭😋😋

Once my Tamil subject teacher came up with this strange idea of us, reciting all the poems in our text book for internal marks ( both mandatory and non mandatory, normally only 30 percent of the poem's will be in memorising segment, we will get question from the rest 70% but will not be asked to write the stansta in exams ) in the same order printed in the book, along with author discription and time for each student to complete the reciting was 5 mins, last but not least in ATTENDANCE ORDER😌.

We were given around a week's time to prepare for this impossible task, when i tried to recite the whole segment after couple of days with friends, it took me 20 mins to complete it. Now I should only increase my reciting speed to 400% and i should stop breathing for 5 mins, that's it easy peacy!!🙄🙄

The day came and i was called upon first as expected, i was completely nervous, went near the black board and set my eyes on the other end of the wall never changed my eye line or looked anyone ( i was afraid if i looked at anyone, i will forget the whole thing) and started the poems.

I was supposed to look at my teacher before starting so that she can mark the " starting time", but no one told me that and even if god was present in the room that day i would not have looked at him. I WAS NERVOUS!!

Starting off with wrong foot i heard from my classmates later that her face expression was so irritated and dismissive. They also told me that i was shaking like anything throughout the whole time and the first bench girls thought i am going to fell down for sure.

None of those things happened and to everyone's surprise i completed all my poems with in 4.45 minutes and that irritated look on my teacher's face slowly changed to wide smile and got lots of claps😬😬😬.

The worst part is only i had to recite the whole thing and rest of my class were cut off in only 30 seconds due to the huge class strength and not enough time to assess all 100 students.

Moral of the story: Roll Number 1 == Scapegoat😤

My whole secondary school was like this and i completed with very good scores( 10th standard), it might not be district level good but its definitely school level good. I think i placed 5th in my school out of the 400 students appeared for the exam.

I am thankful for my teacher's especially, who were so much inspirational. Ms.Gomathi maths teacher in 10th - always been there for any doubts we had; Ms.Usha Rani social studies teacher in 10th- she always drew india map on board in few seconds with out referring to any book ( i scored centum in both their subjects in final exam😬😬)

Last but not least my tamil teacher Ms. Arumbu ( same one who asked us to recite those several pages of poems). Without her i cant be so interested in tamil "Ilakanam and Ilakiyam" ( grammer and literature)
