4 What's with that serious kid? Part 1

That must be the question in most people's mind when they encounter me during 6th to 10 th standard of my secondary school education.

Yes i was so damn serious and always means business - in this case its studies. i was in 6th standard when all the changes were happening in my home, and initially it was very difficult for me to grasp the situation , i cant discuss these with my friends as its very embarrassing and i was a bit lagging in the studies as well but with time somehow i learned to block all these family situation affecting me and started concentrating on school which results in a very good but damn hell serious kid.

There will be a class representative in each class their primary duty among others is to keep the class quiet when a teacher is not around. They will write the names of girls ( did i mention my schooling was in an orthodox girls school 😉) in black board if anyone seems to be talking, which will be left for next teacher's display to decide what to do with them.

Mostly it will end up in silly punishments like, standing in the back of the classroom / kneeling down for 1 period or may be write the homework for 5 times. that's it😂 But being as serious as i am, i dont chat with the fellow classmates unnecessarily ( yeah i was boring!!) and made sure my name was not on the board ever. Yeah i mean it when i said serious🤐

Around 100 girls were there in my class, and all were very sweet at the same time different and with few of them i was close, they make fun of my seriousness as " Kadamai, Kanniyam, Kattupadu" which translates to "Duty, Dignity, Discipline" . Its more catchy in tamil language you know 😂. I had almost same set of classmates till the end of my school education, looking back at that now it feels very good.

My school - as i mentioned, is very strict and orthodox. Do you believe if i say my school uniform was half saree ( traditional indian dress), Yep, it is. Now a days i am not wearing the traditional dressess mostly , but i am very happy that i had opportunity to experience that in my school days. In entrance of my school itself, one can see series of god statues lined up, and we had a very big meditation hall where everyone is allowed, and a separate building for women saints who lived inside school campus itself. One Devotional song is included in daily school prayer, and on every Friday we had a separate Bhajan sessions fo 40 mins. We had our own Bhajan book ( i still have a copy of that book😊). Along with the education department approved subjects, we had additional classes for handcraft, music and Moral education, where one particular epic book will be assigned each year and we had to write exams on that and will be scored against it. I loved stories very much, Any story, be it movies or novels or historical stories , since i didnt get much opportunity to go to movies or read novels or had internet at that times, i loved reading these epic stories.

These stories were very long and complex to keep track of for many of my classmates, and i once remember reciting the whole mahabharatha for my classmates in 4 hours before the moral education course final exam ( girls from other sections were also seems to be listening the complex story).

Not only that i was very much interested in competitions like essay, drawing, speech and poem. Once i received a district level 2 nd place for a poem competition which i wrote on my own ( Promise i wrote it on my own😎)

Whatever was going on in my home, i kind of not let it affect me much, that was my mom's advice for us as well. She really wanted us to be independent and financially empowered.
