1 No, No, and NO!

It was after three in the afternoon on a nice sunny day. Nikolas Tse sighed deeply and stretched out his hands as the lecturer left the class. His last class on the first day of the term finally came to an end. He could not wait to go home. It was only the first day of his second term at the college, but he was already tired of everything. Ugh.

However, Nikolas did not immediately jump up and leave. Presently, everyone in the class was rushing out in waves. As someone who liked his peace, he stayed behind and waited until after the initial rush was over. He did not have to wait long. It took less than a couple of minutes for the class to empty out. Everyone was very eager to leave, huh?

"Hey, Nikolas!" somebody called from behind him.

Nikolas hesitated. A sense of dread stirred his heart.

"Nikolas, could I talk to you for a bit?" The person said again.

"No." He answered decisively. He did not even turn around to look. After putting his books into order, he stood up smoothly and turned to leave.

Only to have his way blocked by a girl. Nikolas blinked, surprised by her brazenness. Undaunted, he took one step closer to her and straightened up imposingly right in front of her, silently ordering the little miss to give way. However, little miss did not budge an inch. She stood still in front of him, staring at him with a hopeful expression.

"Hi, Nikolas." She said sweetly.

Nikolas frowned and refused to answer. He gave her a glance from head to toe, and decided that she was a beauty. And beautiful girls spelled 'trouble' with an additional 's'. Nikolas swiftly turned around and headed towards the other doorway.

"AH! WAIT!"

Nikolas nearly jumped out of his skin as her shrill voice rang out. Two students at the door turned towards them sharply in shock, then started to whisper to each other. Nikolas's sense of foreboding deepened. He could guess what little miss high-pitched wanted to talk about, and he wanted no part of it.

"Wait, wait, wait! Please wait, Nikolas!" Little miss high-pitched quickly dashed up to him and tried to block his way again, shrieking the whole way. His ears were going to bleed if she did not stop it.

Giving in, Nikolas slowed down and resign himself to his fate. Maybe he could try and resolve this 'trouble' quickly. He stood there quietly and gave her a cold glare to prevent her from thinking he was at her beck and call. He was certainly not going to make her feel welcome for bothering him.

"Hi, Nikolas. It's a coincidence, isn't it? To be in the same class again," she said, suddenly very demure and proper again.

Wow. This little miss regained her poise very quickly, Nikolas thought. He was a bit amazed. He wondered if she practised it every day for the transition to be so smooth.

"Last term we were in two classes together." She said again, undeterred when Nikolas remained silent. "We were also in the same class our last year of high school."

Oh. Now that he thought about it... He had seen her around in high school, and last term's college classes. Not that it mattered. He did not know her name and did not want to be friendly with her. In his world most people's' existence were fleeting and negligible.

"I really, really like you after all these time."

Okay, that's it. No need to encourage her to talk further. Nikolas harrumphed and glared at her some more, his eyes telling her to stop.

"So, I'm, like… that is… it seemed like we're… destined to be…" totally ignoring his reaction, she shyly stammered, before looking up at him beneath her lashes. " That's why I would like to be your girlfriend." She smiled very sweetly when she finished, looking like she had accomplished something.

Too bad Nikolas hated sweets and sweet smiles. Also, the same old script…

Nevermind that, she was not afraid of my sharp eyes! My eyes were so big and intense, they made others uncomfortable when I glared. But it seemed like she's immune to them? This girl should not be messed with. Nikolas was the one unnerved in return.

"No." He said again with finality. Get it? Please just say you get it.

"Ah, but… I am the number 1 beauty in our Business Faculty. If you go out with me, then you would be regarded as the luckiest guy on campus. Everyone, every girls and boys, even lecturers of this college would envy you, and admit that you are better than them!"

Wow, really? That's a little too far-fetched isn't it? And I want people to admit I'm better than them? For what purpose? Nikolas narrowed his eyes, feeling like he should have never given this girl a chance to open her mouth. But then, he suspected little missy would follow him all the way home if he ignored her. And her shrill voice was a weapon to be reckoned with.

"Since you're also number 1 pretty boy in our faculty, if you have me as your girlfriend, we would be hailed as king and queen of our faculty! Even king and queen of college is not impossible! We will be popular and revered by everyone!" She finished enthusiastically, her smile wide and her eyes shining like a 1000 watt bulb.

Nikolas' mind had frozen when he heard about the 'number 1 pretty boy'. What pretty boy?! Such a reference didn't make sense… And he was number 1?! He stared at her but his eyes could not focus. His mind was stuck on the subject of him being 'the prettiest boy', unable to think further than that.

"Ah! So you get it now too? Isn't it great?! As your girlfriend, I would be invaluable. I could turn you into a fashionable guy and take you to the best parties!" She was so enthusiastic. She must have binged on energy drink during class, Nikolas guessed. He was dimly aware that his brain was seeking escape from her nonsensical words.

"I know a lot of people in our college and other colleges. You would be surprised! If you hang out with them, they would stop calling you a loser who only have a nice face and no life…" the heck are you saying?! "We could start today since I am meeting some friends later…" start what? Don't you think you need to ask for my opinions first?

"NO!" he cut her off with an ultimate strike and quickly walked off towards the doorway.

"..." She was stunned into silence. Good.

Nikolas decided he had had enough of listening to little Miss Nonsense spewing stupid crap. This was the craziest confession he had ever had. What friends? Why would you want to associate such preposterous people with me? Also, king and queen? Are we still living in feudal era? How superficial can you be?

It was apparent that this poor miss needed to seek serious counselling. Or else she is going to suffer permanent brain damage from lack of rational thinking. Nikolas pitied her.

"No what?!" Miss Nonsense finally cried out, her shrill voice reverberated in the cavernous room again. Nikolas cringed internally, but he still pretended he was unaffected.

"I don't need a girlfriend," he answered, quickening his pace. He must reach the door before she could catch up to him!

"You mean you need a boyfriend?!"

What the…?! Nikolas nearly stumbled into the open door. He sharply turned his head and looked at her in disbelief. Contrary to his assumption, little Miss Nonsense did not run after him again. She was leaning back against a desk casually, smirking at him.

"I'll spread rumors about you being gay if you refused to be my boyfriend," she cheerfully threatened him.

So that's your true color? How despicable. You came to me and offered yourself to be my girlfriend, then spewed nonsense about me being... pretty, and now you threatened to spread misleading rumors about me? How low can you get?! He felt like flipping her 'the bird', but then he was afraid she would think he admitted to being gay. He was not gay!

"Like I care. Go to hell." Nikolas said murderously and left without further ado. This girl was insane!

He really did not have a reason to care. So what if such stupid rumor spread? So what if people ridiculed him? Not like he would lose friends, since he didn't have any. His extracurricular activity was nonexistent to begin with, too, so no worries there. His classes and lectures would not change just because people thought he's gay. He had nothing to lose.

College was really only a way for him to avoid a monotonous life. If worse came to worst, he could just quit college. But that would be like admitting defeat so he wouldn't do that.

Nikolas climbed into his car still feeling out of sort. Taking out his smartphone, he checked his facial features on its reflection.

His skin was of light porcelain in color, which was quite feminine, but he was not an exception. Most men around him were the same! His eyes were big, but his eyelashes and eyebrows were not outstandingly thick, the hair straight and fine. Definitely no curly eyelash or girly-looking eyes. His lips were a little pinkish, but they were thin, not pouty like a girl's. His nose was big and straight, a little pointy, nothing like the little nub of a nose girls should have. In other words, he was not pretty. Good looking was more like it. He huffed in disgust at some people's misguided taste.

Starting the car, Nikolas quickly shifted into gear and drove away. He should not dawdle here or else another crazy confession might happen. That would just be icing on a cake. Did he mention he hated sweet?
