1 Chapter 1

In 2080, Earth experienced DoomsDay. Everything went into chaos. The destruction of earth all happened at once; forest fires, tornados, tsunami's, volcanoes erupted after being dormant for years. Evacuating Earth was unfortunate.

During the time between 2020 to 2080 the technology had evolved tremendously. NASA discovered a planet much like our own but light years away. Luckily, our rockets have become quicker and efficient and the trip through space only took 24 hours instead of years. Our President, George Leif, renamed the planet Thordime, I'm surprised he could even come up with that. He may have gotten us safely off Earth but he isn't exactly a mastermind of ideas.

Living on Thordime seemed normal. Stores, houses, cars, roads, and other essentials popped up in about a year. After that things started getting strange. There are lots of people in black suits hanging out on every block. Missing posters are posted on all the telephone poles till the point the wood on the poles aren't visible anymore.

Something about this planet is making people go insane. They won't even have a reason why they killed you and if they did it was just as crazy as they were.

"I'm starving!" Jacob Lopez said with a great big load of emphasis.

Hell, so was I. We've been driving down this road for awhile and have yet to find a single building, let alone a restaurant. Thordime was a lot bigger than earth, about double in size. Even though a lot of the areas already had houses and buildings there was still quite a bit of land to be built on. I turned onto a different road and still no sign of any signs or buildings.

"Killian, if we don't find food in the next mile I swear I will start nibbling your arm." Laughing, I kept my eyes open for anything that indicated life.

A few minutes later, we spotted a beat up sign that looked abused by the weather. Turning onto the dirt road it was apparent the sign was not the only thing abused by natural causes. Clearly the road hadn't been traveled or kept up with in a long time. Potholes, low hanging branches, and grass that could probably win the world record for 'tallest grass'. I wasn't even sure if I was even on a road until a small clearing came into view.

The parking lot was big enough for maybe 3 cars. The convenience store was a small run down building and off to the right of it was a gas station which looked to have been out of order for a long time. I put my Subaru Forester, Bessie, in park. There was another car in the parking lot which hopefully meant the place wasn't entirely run down.

"Well this doesn't look foreboding at all," I said sarcastically, "How much do you wanna bet that it's haunted?" Jacob looked at me and laughed nervously. We sat in the car for a few minutes debating if it was such a great idea or if we should just leave and find another building. My stomach growled. The Decision was made. I shut off the engine and we got out making our sluggish pursuit to the door. Only stopping to read the worn sign, "Not My Cup Of Tea". I swung the door open and a bell, in desperate need of a new battery, chimed.

There was one other person and that was the cashier who was definitely not expecting us at all. He glanced up from his iPhone two times, I think to check and make sure we were really there, then said, "Can I help you?" We looked around. The place barely had any merchandise. Most of it was a few days old or expired. I don't think he could help even if he wanted to.

"No, I think we're all set," and gave him an awkward smile.

We browsed through the isles, grabbing what wasn't moldy or too out of date. Somewhere in the midst of our searching the doorbell chimed again. A woman walked in who looked about our age, mid 20s. Black hair that reached the middle of her back and her skin was delicately pale. She wore a sexy, short, red dress that showed off her legs which seemed to stretch forever. The only thing that threw me off was the fact she had an umbrella and was wearing a beach hat. Or the fact we stopped our shopping and were peeking around the shelf to look and check her out. She turned.

Busted.

She looked from Jacob to me. As soon as her icy, bright blue eyes met mine her eyebrows raised slightly and she smirked. Something flickered in her eyes but was gone before I could read what it was. "You realize it's not polite to stare." she pointed out, forming a pout on her cherry red lips. Her eyes lingering on me for a moment longer before letting out an irritated sigh and turning towards the cashier.

"Carl, my usual. You know how I like it!" He nodded and turned and went out back to make her 'usual'. We made our way to the counter to purchase a 3 day old breakfast sandwich and some expired chips. She started tapping her delicate fingers on the counter occasionally looking towards Jacob and I. Carl came back holding a coffee cup in one hand and a brown paper bag in the other. Setting it down on the counter for her he cashed us out first in record time. As we were leaving I glanced back. When Carl was cashing her out all I could see in his eyes was fear.
