Chapter 2 Anna's POV; Normal

.....Things have been normal for me and a little bit stressful, I have been working in both hospitals for two months now, and it's sad to say I haven't gotten a lead yet, they hid their tracks well...

PRESENT

"Anna" John called me, I turned and saw him approaching me, "Hey J, what's up" I greeted him with a smile.

So far, he's the only one who knows about my double identity, he's been very helpful and since I work under him as my lead Doctor, he has been protecting me, and he doesn't give me lots of patients to supervise, I mostly work directly under him more like a doctor's PA. He walked towards me and touched my head, I looked at his face and smiled. John is an amazing man, very supportive, and calm and he can be distractingly handsome, his smile is so captivating, his eyes twinkle when he sees something he likes or enjoys doing, and he has this way of looking at you....Ohhh trust me you don't want to get lost in those eyes."Anna, you need to rest, give yourself a break, you don't want to get totally exhausted right?"

"Yeah, at all," I said, nodding

He then took my hand and pulled me into the elevator and we settled in his office.

"How's your migraine" he looked at me accusingly

Scratching my head, "getting...mmmm...you know...

"Worse isn't it ?" John answered as a matter of fact.

"I've been taking my drugs and sleeping during all my free time" I answered cheerfully.

"Anna, you are one of the best nurses we have here, and I personally don't want to lose you to a sickness you of all people should be aware of its way of operation."

"What free time are you talking about, we both know your schedule," he said

"J-ayyy" I said winking at him

"Don't Jayy me, Anna, this is getting out of hand." he hissed

"I feel like I'm getting closer honestly". I said, and it was true, I felt closer than ever now, just need to go steady, I can't afford to blow my cover now, this is just the third month. I must do this for Jasmine.

"What next on your schedule?" John asked when he clearly knew it...I mean he made it. "I meant Doctor Ann's schedule" he clarified rolling his eyes playfully.

I didn't want to change my name totally, so I just removed the 'a' in Anna and called myself Ann in Kings' Hospital, and really, I'm kinda living a life that doesn't exist and it is also very wise of me...I guess I couldn't really give myself another name, I couldn't change my name totally.

I didn't want to look like a fraud, changing my name for profits' sake or to make more money which it wasn't, I'm okay with my nurse pay and I'm doing all these for Jasmine not for some so called profits.

"Ohhhhhhh" I smiled answering "Nothing for today, I'm free, so I'll just do my rounds here after I have a scheduled operation at 4 pm and I'm the lead Nurse."

"I know your schedule here child," J said checking his drawer, then he handed me some drugs.

"What is this for," I asked confused why he gave me unlabeled drugs.

"This is an improved version of your migraine pills, I felt you will need this after your operation, it's going to be for long hours and your drugs will definitely wear out, so I asked the Ranx's Pharmaceutical Company to give me some" he rambled

"Thank you so much, I guess this hasn't been sold out yet, I'm really grateful John, "I said truthfully.

"It's almost time for your operation Anna," he said tapping the table lightly.

I checked my wristwatch and realized I have 20 minutes left, I stood up hurriedly "It's almost late" I said as I ran out.

I changed into my operation gown and prepared the room, for the operation, a 35 years old woman with fibroid and she was pregnant. I ventured more into pediatric nursing, I took operations that were child-related and it's very blissful when the operation is successful, I'm a surgical nurse and I've seen a lot of death in the operation. So I'm very happy when it is successful...I mean who wouldn't want a successful operation?

In an operation room, you have to be optimistic at all times, be self-motivated also and have deep concentration.

Trust...most important, you have to trust the doctors in charge both the lead and supporting doctor, the moment you lack trust in them, a lot of things can go wrong. Nobody is an island of knowledge, we can make mistakes, but it's okay.

We should, all as doctors or nurses must be careful because we are dealing with lives.

FIVE HOURS LATER

After 5hrs operation, it was successful and the baby came out alive and kicking and crying. She was so cute. I handed the newborn baby over to the wid-wives to continue their work and I completed the operation stitching up the woman, then she was later moved to the ICU, after her condition stabilized, we will move her to a private ward.

I went out of the operation room and saw Dr. Jane explaining things to the husband of the lady, he was nervous before, he was pacing around, but now he was happy smiling like a kid that got his favourite candy...the good news had been told. He thanked every one of us that came out of the room sincerely. 'What love can do!!' I mused.

"Ahhhhhhh" I groaned in pain, my migraine has started settling back, I started walking fast to get my drugs.

"Anna! Anna!!" I heard J should my name across the hall, I turned and looked at him.

He gestured for me to wait and I did, massaging my temple.

"I need your help" he spoke panting then I saw him, Nicholas Brooks walking towards us with heavy and rushed steps, he came not bothered about the stares he was getting.

"Is there any emergency?" I said to J without looking at him, then he traced my line of sight and saw who I was looking at, "I told you to stay back there, I'll try and convince her. "J spoke to him in annoyance.

"You don't expect me to sit back down there when my little sister is dying...do you!! " he barked"

"Ahhh" I touch my temple, the migraine was eating me now, their noises were getting to me.

"Anna, where are your drugs" John turned and asked next.

"I was going to get it when you stopped me" I explained

"I always told you to keep"...J was interrupted by Nicholas.

"Please!! Save my little sis..you can't be having a lover's talk here" Nicholas drawled out rudely

"Anna right, I doubt you have a little sister or brother at all , because you won't be doing this if you did, how can you be so heartless, she's dying there and you are here discussing like you didn't hear me earlier".Nicholas spoke angrily

"Hey, don't talk to her like that she's... I interrupted J as he spoke.

"Let's go for the operation J, who is the lead and the supporting doctor," I asked.

"You and I" he replied

"Whatttttttt" I spoke out a little loud, I pulled him away from Nicholas "I'm a nurse J"

"And a doctor Anna, I can only trust you with this operation, Dr. Park is in an operation now. We can't wait till he finishes "John said.

"Okay then" I answered
