Chapter 2: Arevacii Empire

I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked gorgeous in that satin baby blue dress with yellow lacings. It was time to go and get over this stupid debutante. My mom looked at me proudly then I saw her smile twitch a little when her eyes landed on my hair ;).My dad smiled and then sent me off with 5 bodyguards yes you heard it right 5 Freakin bodyguards. Off to a great start, I must say :(((

I sat on the carriage it was dark blue on the inside and was very comfortable, the ride was not. It took twenty-five minutes to reach the royal palace of Arevacii. I got off the carriage, oh a chilly wind sent shivers down my body. I quickly walked towards the gate. I took a deep breath and opened the gate.

I whispered to the usher, Lady Khione of House Rensteil. GOD, why is he staring at me this way? "LADY KHIONE OF HOUSE RENSTEIL". (i have a bad feeling about this)

I looked ahead, all eyes were on me and I could hear whispering.

No No No this is not good.

I quickly found a spot in the corner (near the pastries hehehe) and pretended to be invisible. I saw a group of girls in their mid-teens who were looking at me and then whispering to each other.

One of them who had dark brown hair took a step towards me and said: "Good evening to you Lady Khione I'm Lindy from House Kilderry".

I replied "Good evening to you too " in a monotonous tone. Her smile faltered a bit but then she said"Lady your hair looks very amazing".I was not here to make friends but I guess I shouldn't make enemies even though she is just a count's daughter while I am a duke's daughter. So this time I smiled a bit and said "You flatter me lady Lindy but I must say I have to meet with your seamstress because your dress looks absolutely gorgeous." Her face turned to a shade of beetroot and she quickly called her friends.

I chatted with them a little and when I looked around I realized many eyes were still on me. Girls looked at me in awe and envy and the guys looked flushed I don't know why (just kidding I know I'm gorgeous peasants). Then my eyes caught something a girl with silver hair and in a yellow dress sitting in a corner. She was definitely the female lead. Then I looked around and I saw a pair of beautiful amber eyes staring at me.

I guess I finally get to see Camilia.

I feel sorry for her cause she will never be able to capture the crown prince's heart, talking about that where is the birthday boy.

Just as these thoughts passed my brain a figure appeared and all I could see was shining golden hair.

The girls around started hyperventilating and their eyes literally turned into hearts. I saw Camilia biting her lips and trying to catch the attention of the crown prince by batting her eyelashes while on the other side the female lead looked disinterested. I quickly realized in order to not catch the crown prince's attention I must act like his fangirl. I also put on a stupid face and oohed and awed with the other girls. I know I'm smart.

Then I saw him, Kaelean Xanchior, his blond hair shone in the hall and his red eyes sparkled dangerously. It was obvious he was one of the main leads I mean just look at his face and his aura.

He spoke in a low but authoritative voice "Welcome to my 16th birthday party and I'm thankful to everyone who is here. I hope you enjoy this party".Then he went away. Lol, that was a nice speech (you see speeches should be short).

I went to have my babies aka pastries. While I was having them I heard some girls whisper, "Now the beauty ranking needs to be rearranged I mean Lady Khione is definitely prettier than Lady Camilia".Another one said, "No way I like lady Camilia better".Another counterattacked"Don't you know Lady Khione is one of the geniuses of the century along with Eugene Callista the son of Archduke Castilla I mean people call her the Mystery Lady of House Khione. The others silently agreed but one of them still went on to say Camilia was better.

I was silently eavesdropping on their conversation when I saw Kaelean looking in the direction of Mary. I smiled inside my head relieved that the plot was still the same when all of a sudden I saw the pair of red eyes looking at me.

Shoot I quickly looked away. This is not right, in the novel it was written he only looked at Mary the whole time. The story can't be changing already I didn't even do anything. I looked back but those scary red eyes were now not on me. I let out a sigh of relief.

Then came the time for Kaelean to dance with Camilia. Dang, he is a savage he did not even look at her once. The dance ended just like that and oh my god Camilia looked pissed.

Then a voice said, "Lady Khione please join the crown prince for this dance".

Shit, I took I deep breath and silently hoped he would pay no attention to me. I quickly switched on my fangirl mode and started smiling and looking at him in a dreamy way. Kaelean took my hand without glancing at me once and then we danced silently.

Yes, the song was gonna finish and then suddenly in the last move he pulled me closer and said "It was nice to dance with you, The Mystery Lady of House Rensteil" he chuckled.I frowned a bit at his remark but quickly changed it to a smile and replied "the pleasure is mine crown prince" and then he didn't give me another glance.

Then he danced with Mary and was kinda smiling the whole time while Mary still looked disinterested so I guess the plot was still not ruined but why did he have to talk to me. Maybe I'm overthinking but just to be safe i will not get out of my house now ;) at least until I'm 16 when I have to go to the NATIONAL ACADEMY.

I was lost in my thoughts of hibernating in my house when suddenly I felt a pair of light blue eyes looking at me and smiling. Those eyes belonged to Empress Audirisia, the wife of the Emperor of Arevacii.

I startled but I quickly smiled back at her, I mean I wouldn't want to go against her the mother of the crown prince as well as the empire. She smiled warmly at me in an approving manner. Even though her smile is warm it feels as if it is an ominous sign I mean shouldn't she be smiling at Mary, her future daughter-in-law (why me).

After some time I left the party and returned home. Now it's time to lock up myself again. Yipee back to me time.

Two months later

It was a bright morning when all of a sudden all of my maids rushed into my room excitingly and then my mother arrived with a golden envelope in her hand smiling from one ear to another.

She happily said "Lady Khione Rensteil is invited to come to the palace and stay there for a duration of one month as the companion of the crown princess Odette Xanchior. I hope you enjoy your stay here. With regards, Empress Audirisia Xanchior."

I'm officially doomed, this letter was definitely an order and not a request from the empress herself so I have to nopes of refusing it. I silently cursed under my breath and packed my belongings hoping to never meet Kaelean in that stupid palace. Little did I know that sly fox aka the empress had other plans for me...
