72 Chapter 72: Truth

Shen Jun Shan brought Joel to the coffee shop near their apartment complex.

From there, Joel told Shen Jun Shan everything he meant when he said that Qiao An could be in danger and how he came into the matter. Shen Jun Shan was not stupid to trust people blindly, so he asked a lot of questions.

By the end of his 'discussion' with Joel, Shen Jun Shan was sure that the man who ordered Joel to do this and that would have bad intention towards Qiao An.

"Who's the man?" Shen Jun Shan asked Joel.

"Li Rang. Qiao An's ex-boyfriend." Joel answered readily.

"The fitness junkie?" Shen Jun Shan remembered that last time Qiao An told him and Amy Shen that her ex-boyfriend was a fitness junkie and not bodybuilder.

Joel nodded. "Both Li Rang, and I live in City L. His family is in this loan shark business. My father borrowed a small sum of money from them without telling my mother or me. You know how the interests for loan shark can be quite absurd sometimes. My father was not able to pay his debt on time. The interest accumulated up to the point that impossible for him to pay."

Shen Jun Shan had no sympathy towards people who borrowed from a loan shark, but he said nothing. He waited for Joel to finish his story.

"As the heir to such business, Li Rang came and met me to 'discuss' term with me. Since we went to the same university and lived near to each other, Li Rang wanted to help me at first. But I never expected things to turn out this way. This is all my fault. Involving Qiao An in this was my fault."

Joel sighed and seeing that Shen Jun Shan did not disturb him. He continued with his explanation.

"Li Rang came to my house uninvitedly the day after I went out for dinner with Qiao An. Earlier that time, I sent a message to Qiao An to ask if she was free the next day. Who knew that Li Rang saw her name because I simply saved her number as Qiao An. Li Rang questioned me if Qiao An is the same Qiao An of his ex-girlfriend? I denied at first, but Li Rang always has his way to get things done, I had no choice but to tell him the truth."

"Li Rang laughed evilly after he knew that. He told me that he had a way for me to pay for my father's debt. I only have to follow his instruction. I tried telling him to leave Qiao An out of this, but he threatened to crippled my parents' leg if I disobey him." Joel stopped talking; he took a deep breath to calm his heart.

"My father is the one who borrowed the money, but now, my mom was involved in this too. I can't let him do anything to my parents. I have no choice, aren't I?" Joel stared at Shen Jun Shan as if to wait for him to say 'yes.'

"What did he ask you to do?" Shen Jun Shan leaned back and asked Joel.

"Since Li Rang's new girlfriend is working in the management office, he asked his girlfriend to take the original key of Qiao An's house unit. At first, the two of us went into her house when she was not around. Li Rang asked me to find anything expensive from the house, but we found nothing."

Shen Jun Shan frowned. "Did you try her bedroom?" Shen Jun Shan saw Qiao An's jewellery when he entered her room last time.

"No. We could not enter her room. The locked had been changed into a new one." Joel shook his head.

Shen Jun Shan remembered last time Qiao An told him that she made the landlord changed the lock to her room because it was a bit problematic. It could be the reason why nothing changed position in Qiao An's room. "Is that all?"

"Li Rang made me enter the house for the second time to see if I could use any clue from the house to find out about Qiao An's interest so it would be easier for me to make her fall in love with me. After that, I'm not sure how many times Li Rang attempted to enter the house. I told him not to do that anymore, but Li Rang was too consumed by his anger towards Qiao An's brother."

"Why?" Shen Jun Shan was curious why Jin would be involved in this as well.

"I'm not sure what happened between Li Rang and Qiao An's brother, but Li Rang mentioned once that the brother humiliated him back in university day. The brother came to meet Li Rang and offered money to have him breaking up with Qiao An. He threatened Li Rang with a few things so, at the end of the day, Li Rang took the money and broke up with Qiao An."

"At that time, Li Rang did not know about Qiao An's identity as the daughter from the Tang family. He came to know the news just a few months earlier. When he knew that Qiao An's brother offered him that small amount of money, Li Rang felt that Qiao An's brother looked down on him."

"One thing Li Rang could not stand is being looked down upon by people. But at that time, no matter how much he hated Qiao An's brother, he was just a small-time loan shark in City L. He did not have a big connection to find out and locate the brother of his ex-girlfriend. But when he knew that Qiao An was here, he came up with a lot of ideas for his revenge. After this, I'm not sure what he will do. So, please make sure that Qiao An is safe no matter what."

Joel was honestly requesting that and Shen Jun Shan could feel it from Joel's words that he genuinely cares for Qiao An.

This will be something new to Shen Jun Shan. He did not expect Jin to do that behind her sister. Is he about to face the same thing too? Shen Jun Shan was sure that Jin would have difficulty if he were trying to offer money to Shen Jun Shan to break up with Qiao An.

Because Shen Jun Shan does not lack money, he will not break up with Qiao An just because of that.
